Sibling Dolls

May 17, 2015

    1. I have sibling dolls. Two of them are "brothers" (they're not human but brothers is the closest to describe the relation) and the other two are an older brother and his little sister. In both cases they belong to a story I'm writing/drawing so all of them are based on existing characters and I looked for dolls who had the right look to be able to look like the characters would if they were real and not animated/cartoon characters.

    2. One of my dolls is one half of a set of twins. My dear Tahlise, long ago, bought two RS Juns from eBay. She felt bad for them since they were being sold from their first owner (she does that... She may as well open a dollie orphanage ^_^; )

Recently she's moved in with me and brought all her dollies she's gotten in the past. Being the sweetie she is, she's let me take control of the styling, personality and naming of one of her Juns. And since they are identical, we ended up evolving them into a set of yosei/spirits. And thus Kei and Michi came into being!

    3. I'm still deciding if I will make three siblings or a pair in a group, but one of them are already on their way and the second will be bought on the next months. I also saw two sculpts that would be perfect for twins but sadly one only sells as a head and I'm in doubt about using it. Either way there will be siblings prancing around because the story and I like it because the family dynamic it create with the other characters.

    4. I love brother/sister relationships so I had always planned to have at least one pair of brothers in my doll family!

Nowadays though I'm leaning to putting in all of the following: big and little brothers, brother and sister, twins.... as I'm still developing my characters I'm not yet sure though who will fit which role but there's probably going to be a very uncomfortable love triangle involving siblings! <3

    5. My first two dolls are siblings! When I was buying my first doll, I initially just wanted a girl, but it felt kind of lonely so I ordered a boy the next day. As much as I love my older brothers, I've never really had a younger brother to spoil(since I'm the youngest and the reverse always happens to me LOL). So I thought I should make the boy the youngest brother of my girl.

They have families but I never thought of reshelling them since they have a really weird and confusing story.

    6. My first two dolls are siblings as well! Alaska (the oldest) and Aspen (the youngest). I knew I wanted Alaska to have a little sister after I saw a tiny doll for the first time! <3

    7. Yeah my first two dolls were brother/sister... they decided that on their own a couple of months after little one arrived.
They're not from the same company, but the companies are sister companies I think and cast by the same person, cuz the colours were almost exactly the same.
      Here they be~

They had a little brother for a little while too (Onyx's twin) but I felt he didn't fit into the dynamic

I miss having twins though xD so maybe more are in my future!

    8. I do have siblings! I love sibling dolls! Maybe since I'm an only child mysel? I wonder...

My DollZone Hid (Hideyoshi) and DollZone FeiLian (Angèle)
Angèle is Hid's adopted siter though. But still siblings, right?

Then I also have an Angel Fantasy Xi (Sying), a DollZone Yan (Somniferum) and a DollZone Raphael (Lotus).
They are all brothers and sister. No pictures yet though since Somni and Lotus still need to be painted again.
Sying is the older brother, Somni and Lotus are twins. Even though the sculpts look so much different, the right face-up really does make them look like twins!

I didn't really look at matching sculpts for my sibling dolls (well the adopted one don't even need to match, right?). And even so, I know enough siblings IRL to know they don't always look alike that much. Also for Sying, Somni and Lotus, I planned on having siblings. Hideyoshi and Angèle just worked out that way. Maybe that's why I made Angèle the adopted sister? I dunno.

Again, I do think it has to do with the fact not having siblings myself, that I endud up having half of my dolls being siblings!

    9. I will have siblings very soon! I didn't plan to, but when I saw Fairyland's new minifee, Liria, she looked so much like an older system to Pond, my 5Star Amy (my profile pic) that I had to put her on layaway. When she arrives Pond will get a make over, so they'll have the same hair and eye colour. Until now, my dolls were characters who had met and formed a family group, but weren't genetically related.

    10. I love sibling dolls! Planning to get a sister for my boy soon. (:

    11. My whole crew is a mismatch family with two biological brothers that have a foster family and an adopted sibling. :D

    12. Yeah, I love siblings! My biggest boy, Edgar (SoulDoll Vito Lester) is the older brother of my little girl, Nelliel (Dollsbe Mango).
They have identical eyes and the same wig colour, and the look really cute when they are together ^w^
I will post a picture tomorrow if I take them out for pics.

    13. My first two dolls are brother and sister! I never planned it that way but it just sort of happened

    14. I have a few siblings of current dolls on my wishlist but don't actually own them yet. I do have two cousins, though. For siblings I plan to stick to the same doll brand but for cousins I enjoy the variety.

Here's an old photo of my MNF Rheia loving on her cousin, my Dolkot Day:

    15. I just realized I have two sets of siblings! lol I didn't even realize.

My first set are tinies. They are werewolf twins (withdoll sculpt tines) and I just love them together. Bram and Ishbor. Ishbor isn't finished yet. His wig is giving me hard times. I fell in love with both sculpts at different times and I got one, then the other came on the second hand market and it was kismet. I need to work on Ishbor more and on their story. They also need a pet raccoon maybe needle felted.

My second set of siblings are just by coincedence thrown together. Both were kind of impulse buys where I liked their sculpt, opportunity came around and I had them both. One was a set character right away, but just loosely tied to my main story. She's an SD named Blessing. Her sister is a MSD named Magpie. I realized recently that they were sisters. It just kinda happened. So now both are loosely related to my main story. I seem to like my characters in "groups". I only have one that stands alone, well with her anthro cat guardian.

    16. I do! You could say it was planned from the moment I was able to add a human body to my Soom order.

    17. I have two sets of siblings! I didn't plan them.

The first set is a CustomHouse St. Mina and her younger brother, Souldoll Tiffee. I had been searching for a doll to use as the younger brother before I realized I already owned the perfect option. I hated to give up the Tiffee's established character, but I knew it was the best solution, so I sent both Mina and Tiffee out to the same artist for repaint. They do look very much alike so I'm very happy with the outcome.

The second set is two old Volks FCS girls who ended up painted by the same artist. I owned an F-07 and sent her off for a faceup, only to find out later someone was selling an old F-14 by the same artist. Interestingly enough, it was through photos of the finished F-14 I had seen previously online that made me decide this particular artist was the one I wanted to commission for the F-07! Now I have them both, and naturally, they are sisters.

Edited to add: I wasn't thinking, I actually have more siblings. :doh

Years ago, CustomHouse did a line of smaller dolls called Vintage Ai, made to look like pose dolls from the 60's. They were awesome, and I fell promptly in love with the Charlotte and Odree molds. I was able to snag a Charlotte secondhand, but it took me like seven or eight years to find an Odree! Now they are reunited as sisters once more. I didn't actually think I'd ever find another Vintage Ai so I didn't plan for the second one to arrive, but I'm so glad she did.

I also have a WIP set of sisters as well. One is a Minimee and the other an Elfdoll Rita; again, different companies, but their proportions are similar so I think they'll look great together once I can get the Rita finished!

    18. I have one relationship-but-not-blood-related-sister couple (between my Dreaming Doll Naomi and Ryuna) and since they are from the same company they could technically be blood-related but the story between them aren't that way, so they are just related through their relationship :P

In the future I will also get twins, two boys. I am still trying to find a good sculpt for them (I kind of want the same for them, instead of two different/similar from the same company) but we'll see when I find the right one :)

(Then I also have a father and a daughter (Luts Yuul (satyros) and a Luts tinytaur ^^)

    19. Weeeell... I have two pairs of siblings. But... I only have one of the sisters at home and the other ones are with my friends. We bought same sculpts and made similar face ups to keep them as sisters, one is with me and one with my friend (in both cases)... it's symbolic for us, because we as well are separated by countries, but still are Sisters^_^

    20. My only 2 dolls are siblings. I just like that aspect to them. I think I made them siblings because I didn't want people to think that because he's a boy and she's a girl they must be dating. *shrugs* :)
