1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Signs of doll addiction

Oct 16, 2012

    1. I cannot stop going to the company website to look at the dolls hahaha

    2. THIS!

      ALL OF THIS!!!

except for the last one. I'm not that organised :sweat

    3. * I see all miniature items as doll scaled
      * always visiting doll sites, also marketplace threads, even though I won't buy
      * shop for my doll, not for myself
      * Sew some clothes every time I have free time

    4. Spending time at the office on doll sites! Always being broke because of my latest doll must haves. Having what kind of day I'm having defined as bad when I miss out on a doll I want. Having dolls with a more expensive wardrobe than my own!

    5. I'm starting to feel concerned about my BJD addiction. It would be different if I had plenty of money to spend on BJDs,but I don't and I'm already eyeing another doll I want to buy. I told myself I wouldn't buy any more dolls after this last purchase, but here I am already thinking about buying a Pong Pong.

    6. When going on city trips, checking if there are any doll shops. I spent most of my last stay in Paris looking for doll stuff...:|

    7. Did you go to the Musee de la poupee in Paris? They usually have a few BJDs in stock.

      And back on topic:

Looking at a webshop and picking out clothes...only seconds before clicking on " buy now" I realise its full sized stuff.

    8. I actually expend a good bit of energy reassuring my roommate that this is not an addiction. (I'm bipolar, and obsessive behavior is a function of the manic aspect, so she worries about me.)

That being said, I do live at Hancock Fabrics (the nearest JoAnn is in Jackson, *sob* I miss the variety and the selection SO hardcore!) and I dream about scrounging fabric at thrift stores and yard sales. I actually woke up one morning thinking "Man I've gotta get up and dressed, there's a yard sale on Highway 49!" ... and I was half out of bed before I realized I'd been dreaming. My brain was just going "I can make a full dress out of a large size man's shirt! I can get a jacket out of a tweed skirt! Let's GO!" :XD

    9. When I first got into dolls I only took about a week to figure out what doll I wanted for my price range at the time. My family/boyfriend said it was just a phase and I shouldn't burn so much money, but when they learned about the community behind it they accepted I was in it for more than the perfect dolly faces. XD

    10. You know you're addicted when...

#1. You run out of room to list anymore dolls under the Doll Family section of your DoA profile!
#2. You awake in the middle of the night absolutely sick at the thought of having missed a deadline to enter a lottery to purchase another doll!
#3. You're stunned when you realize you no longer know exactly how many BJDs you have without checking what's listed in your profile!

      ;)

    11. We are only here to enable you ;)

    12. I started with an addiction to an off-topic jointed fashion doll series last year, which blossomed (more like spiraled!) into a longing for a real BJD! I look at vendor websites every day and just dream about owning one.

    13. I have it also... first were the Blythes now I am into the new world of BJD dolls and the thing is getting seriously...I am addictive to the doll world!! What can i say? better to have to think about Lilou(my Unoa) than the crisis that is hitting hard in here!!! I maybe be unemployed in a month or two and still on my mind is a new girl..(kid lonnie!!!) wish me luck ..to keep my job so I can have her!!! Is my condition a severe one???

    14. I do most of the stuff on that list too xD Most of the time my eyes r glued to sales threads to see what people are selling xD

    15. I've only been into the hobby for a month or so and I'm already guilty of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 9. I'm addicted to the doll world, it's like it filled something that was missing in my life. Sometimes I think I've gone crazy. :)

    16. The red flag of addiction for me is committing to a new doll when I have no clue how I'm going to pull off paying for it.

    17. Let's just put it in another way, you love your doll a lot. Hahas.

    18. Mm I think I have on-off periods of these symptoms? haha! There are periods when I'm completely obsessed and taken over, and periods when I'm busy with other hobbies/school/etc ^^

    19. Yes to every single one of those! I went shopping with my friends one time and I saw a motorcycle the perfect size for an MSD and called over the only other person who obsessed about bjds as much as I did and we both had a fangirl moment. I also have this dream where I've gotten all of my dolls and they, for some reason, were human and were all glaring at me in my room over the lack of space I had for them. They are all going to be SD sized, so they would easily tower over me if they turned human.

    20. I am Maggie and I am a Doll addict *waits for everyone to say "Hi Maggie"*

I have been in the hobby about 10 months, not even an entire year....I own 6 dolls, a 7th on the way.....I need help XD.

I love all of my dolls and I find I too buy them things that for myself, I would deem too expensive @_@.

I am constantly telling myself "This doll is the last one, once I get him/her my collection will feel complete" then I look at sites and read around DOA and end up with a new doll on my wish list >.<.....I make stupid little rules for myself about money like "when I get X amount saved, everything past that can go to a doll"....yeah, I was going to get a tattoo but they say they are as addictive as dolls so maybe I will just get another doll instead lol.
