Sleeping faces - do you have/use them?

May 11, 2013

    1. I have one right now, a Dikadoll Sleeping Rena, but I also have the open-eyed head and they share the body as the same character. I don't use it all the time but I love how peaceful and serene she seems to be. I'm also waiting on a Pukifee Ante with the sleeping faceplate option and that decision was made based on how much I like this one. I don't think I would order a doll with just a sleeping head, but if the option existed to get both the open-eyed and sleeping version, I would get both for sure.

    2. I have a Dikadoll Rena too (awake) and when I bought her, I got her sleeping face as a gift. I have to say your sleeping Rena looks very sweet... I guess I'll try my sleeping face at some point, after I learn how to remove the one she has on. :)

    3. Thank you. ^^ I knew my Rena could convince you! ;) That's how I got the sleeping face, also. I probably wouldn't have purchased it separately, but I'm glad I picked it. Like I said, I don't use it all the time but it's nice to have as an option. Good luck with the head, I think the DK head cap is the worst part, I feel like I'm going to break it! XD Anyway, if you do, share some pics!

    4. I guess it would depend on the price. Some can look pretty cute, but IMO they are only really good for photos and I can't justify spending a lot of money on something I may only use once or twice.

    5. I would buy a sleeping face/head for all my dolls if it were an option (sadly it isn't) and not too expensive, I'm not sure how often I would use it but it would be a nice thing to have, in my opinion.

    6. I don't have a dreaming face plate. I don't think I would use it as much; also trying ti match the faceups would be a hassle for me.

    7. My MNF Tan El came with a sleeping head but I've never used it - it's stayed in a box since the day it arrived. I'm much more a fan of the open eyed look, and I'm lazy. Switching heads is just too much work.

    8. Some of the sleeping faces look so sweet and serene, but I couldn't justify spending money just to have a sleeping head that looks pretty in a few photoshoots. :(

    9. I seem to have a preference for the alternate head sculpts, hehe. I've found I really love sleeping heads! At first I purchased them for the versatility and then noticed that I often leave the doll with their "alternate" head more often. ^.^"

    10. Once upon a time, I never thought I'd get a sleeping/dreaming sculpt as a SD. Tiny maybe yes, who could resist an adorable sleeping tiny lol, but I thought if I did ever get a sleeping head with fully closed eyes it'd be as an additional option like Fairyland offers. But then, I saw msDoll Drayton and just fell in love with him! I now think that sleeping sculpts can sometimes be quite expressive too and there are some poses that you can do better with sleeping sculpts, like sleeping obviously , praying, being deep in thought and so on. For me, I made my boy as someone who likes to shut out the outside world and is always lost in his own world, hence the closed eyes. :XD:

    11. I love this option for Fairyland dolls and sometimes I can't resist buying one. I have sleeping head for my littlefee and another for my minifee, and I bought new minifee with sleeping head too. I don't take lots of pictures for my dolls with their sleeping head, but sometimes when taking photos of my dolls I want a certain feeling within the photo that only the sleeping head can give (such being vulnerable), for me they aren't that big waste of money but also depending on which doll I'm buying, her character and if she need her sleeping head too. :)

    12. I get sleeping faces whenever I get the chance, just to have the versatility. Currently I have only one sleeping head and I use it mainly for pictures of my doll playing instruments, here's a couple of pictures of the same doll playing the violin with open and closed eyes, it really changes the mood. Sorry about the poor quality, but you get the point :)

    13. I do stop motion and it is tedious but I plan on getting a LittleFee and hopefully getting her to blink! I just love all the photo options that open up, they are good to have on hand :D

    14. [IMG]

left: pukisha sleeping face, modified to ..that xD
      middle: pukisha sleeping face
right: normal pukisha face, slightly modified eyes

..well, the example on the left is how I usually use sleeping face; to make the kind of eyes I like :P I love pukisha but it would be boring if they all looked exactly the same, plus modifying is fun <3 (as long as I manage not to hurt myself).

    15. I wouldn't want to have a doll with their eyes completely closed all the time, but absolutely, if my doll had the option for a sleeping face that could be switched, I would get it, no question. The versatility of being able to change her facial expression for photos would be amazing.

    16. I have three dolls who are sleeping 24/7. They're all the same character and blind, modded (and to-be-modded) with scars over their eyes. It's weird because I'm so used to them and their character that I don't think of them as sleeping or even closed-eyed. To me they're every bit as versatile and expressive as the rest of my dolls. I even have to pause and think when discussing eyes ("What eyes does Aishe have?? Oh yeah, none" XDD). I have thought of getting an OE Breakaway and giving him white marbles for eyes to use as Aishes OE head, but for the most part I don't want one. I love that particular head to death, any other one wouldn't be the same...

I also have a few SP FPs, and a couple closed eyes "sleeping" heads as alternate heads of other dolls...and I never use them. I always think I need them, but so far? Nope. Yet I can't get rid of them!! And I keep wanting more...(c'mon Dollmore, make a sleeping Kara Klum for me!!).

    17. I don't have any, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to purchase a sleeping head honestly. They'd be useful for photostories and stuff but I can't justify the cost of another head just for some photos. I don't really like them THAT much. If I had a blind character or something I might get one, but right now I don't have a need. I do like the dolls with eyes that are half closed, though.

    18. I realized not long ago that I never use the extra sleeping faces of my dolls. Not really on purpose, it's just that I tend to forget about it...

    19. I have no sleeping faces. I don't love them therefore I don't order. I love beautiful eyes.

    20. When I got my Fairyland tiny girls the sleeping faces were a must-have option because I wanted to be able to take "extra" photos of them sleeping. Other people make it look so great! But, I actually ended up never using them so I sold them.
So, I won't be ordering anymore dolls with their sleeping plates unless I feel I'll actually use them.
