Sleeping faces - do you have/use them?

May 11, 2013

1. I don't have any sleeping faces. I think they're adorable, but since I am not much of a photographer I don't have a whole lot of purpose for them. They seem like a great tool for photographing your dolls.

2. I have 3 dolls with sleeping faces. It does kind of limit the ways I can pose them, but I absolutely love them. They seem so innocent and peaceful :)

3. I really wish I there was a sleeping Luna faceplate for Annora. A lot of her story as an OC is centered on sleeping, oddly enough, and I'd love to be able to photograph her both ways.

4. I have the one that came with my Minifee, I mostly got it so I could qualify for the free event and also knowing that the sleeping heads aren't sold separately. Who knows if I would have regretted not getting it in a few months. That said, I've put it on her once and even though it has the same default faceup as her awake head, she feels like a different character.

5. I don't think I would ever order a sleeping face for my doll. While it would be cool to have, the photography options for a sleeping face are a bit limited. Plus, as expensive as this hobby is, I could better use the money somewhere else. It's a cool idea, just not practical for me.

6. I used to have sleeping face doll (marchenwaltz moonlight aimee)
Very gorgeous sculpt, but i like changing eyes :-<

7. I can see myself getting a sleeping faceplate, but probably not if it's the only faceplate the doll has. I want an awake version too. But I like the versatility that a sleeping faceplate gives, so I's really like to have both. It's not a priority for me to get a sleeping faceplate, (I didn't get one with my Unoa Lusis) but someday when I'm more financially stable I like to think that I'll be able to explore sleeping faceplates more. :) I've also noticed I really like the dreamy look of half-closed eyes. The sleepy-but-not-yet-asleep look is so gorgeous, and conveys a lot of emotion to me. :)

8. When I got my Pukifee Pongpong, I didn't want a sleeping head, because people don't sleep with their mouth open, but I like the idea of tinies having sleeping faces, because they look so cute to pose with.
I think sleeping plates are useless if you do photography with your dolls.

9. For me the best part of my dolls is looking into their eyes, I could never own a sleeping doll for that reason

10. I have a Dreaming Lion head that came with my Iplehouse Tan Lion... since he was LE10 there were no other floating bodies that'd match the head's resin color, so I just use it as Karim's own sleepy alternate-face. It's a totally different mood than his usual intense eagle-eyed gaze, so I like the variety. I don't use it that often, but when I do, it is so stunning that sometimes I leave it on him for a couple months at a time. It's got the exact same faceup as his round-eyed head, and the same warm coloring, and the same sensuous smile-- but with his eyes 90% closed, he looks like he's adrift in waking dreams. <3

Iplehouse Akando 'Pierrot' edition came with a Gentle head (droopy-eyed but more awake than Dreaming), but that is painted up in clown makeup, so it only gets used on special occasions. I sure wish that I could get a Dreaming Akando head (it's so very sweet! <3) in Realskin resin, but it wasn't offered for very long or in the right colors, so alas.

And my second Tan Soo Ri, Samir, came with both a Gentle head and a round-eyed head, and Samir is always the Gentle head. As much as I love round-eyed regular Soo Ri, the Gentle head's different expression & mood just seemed to fit Samir's character better.

11. I don't really have a desire to get one for myself. I've seen some that are gorgeous, but they're just not for me.
I tend to like to do poses and characters that are better with open-eyed dolls. I'm also a strong believer that the eyes are the gateway to the soul.

12. All my Littlefees have sleeping heads. I need to take pictures of them sleeping!

13. I have one beautiful sleeping luts MNF shushu head - it's so gorgeously painted by the same guy who did my Oyuki and I swear it's never been out of the box, just lives in packaging. I have no use for it. Keep meaning to sell it but the thought of that process scares me (coz I is pathetic, buying no problem, selling 'argh!)

I dont' really like it enough to get a body for her so it's just in sad dolly limbo lol

14. I wouldn't be against one for the occasional picture but I like my boys' eyes too much to keep a sleeping face on all the time. Plus... none of them have sleeping faces available for sale. :sweat Sleeping DF Claus would be nice though. >w>

15. I don't have one, but I do have an idea or two if I'd ever see one I'd absolutely have to have.

16. I was just asking someone about this the other day! I ordered a SP with face-up for my MNF Celine -but only because I really really wanted to qualify for the MNF Siean Elf event head *blush*

Now that I've got it, I'm not entirely sure what to do with it lol She is a musician so perhaps some shots of her playing the flute could work.....?? lol

17. I love sleeping (or dreaming) dolls with a tiny bit of their eyes still showing. That way you can still get images of them with different expressions depending on the angle. The gentle and peaceful mood they give off is adorable and my absolute favorite thing about them. ❤

My Afi uses a sleeping head. I love it to bits. His character was meant to be forever sleeping, so it's fit him well. <3

18. Ooh. I have many sleepies.

My first was my DollZone BB Ami. Biscuit is blind because she lived underground (Earth Sprite) and they use other methods to 'see'.
My second was my Volks Yo-SD Rengemaru. Tisane has a sort of narcolepsy. It's kind of a running joke in photoshoots because he'll just randomly collapse.
My third is my Doll Factory Sunee. Calvin (his nickname) is the son of Rayne (Water Sprite) and Biscuit (mentioned above). He sleeps all the time because if he wakes up, he tends to cause thundershowers as he's a sprite of rain clouds.

Now, Kissy (a modded Chiwoo) has one open eye and one closed because of an accident as a child and Ashleigh (AE Soda), he has dreaming eyes mostly because he's an adorable fox in child form.

Aaand that's basically it because the other "sleeping" one I had has fully open eyes.

Sleepies sometimes have just as much if not more character and spunk as the wide awake ones! :3

19. I have a MNF Chloe sleeping plate and I just adore her. I am not sure of her character yet, but I am so glad to have her .

20. I dont any of them, I think I never will. Maybe they will be usefull for some photography cases like when your doll is sleeping or whatnot, other than that, I dont think theres much other uses of it ;\
