Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Sleeping faces - do you have/use them?

May 11, 2013

    1. I don't have any as just an extra head to be changed out with the OE heads for my dolls. I feel like if I were to own a sleeping head I would rather make a character out of it instead of just having a head there to take pictures of it when my doll is suppose to be sleeping. I'd just give my doll a sleeping mask for its eyes for the picture or just take the picture in an angle where the eyes aren't showing.

    2. I have some sleeping faceplates and heads that came with open-eyed dolls. I don't go for JUST sleeping dolls. I just love seeing eyes!

But now and then I think it wouldn't be bad to have a sleeping doll. Not THAT versatile, but it might be good for those times you just like that look, maybe?

    3. I have an AOD 1/4 group and currently have one sleeping head.
I also have two sleeping heads of different years with the eyes opened.
I got it when there was a free head event, and tried it on a doll I originally interned it for, but the skin tones don't match.
So, for now, it sits with it's matching opened eyed counterpart waiting for a full doll/body.
I plan on using the two head as option heads for a doll I'm planning on having in the future.

    4. Yes, I love sleeping/dreaming and half-closed eyes. If I have to pick then I mostly pick the sleeping/dreaming one. :)

    5. I don't have a sleeping head or faceplate. I couldn't see myself buying one either, though they do look very pretty and peaceful. I just wouldn't be able to take the pictures I want of my dolls if they were only sleeping. ^^

    6. I just love sculpts with half-closed eyes - though have a really hard time glueing their lashes in such a way that their eyes don't look completely closed :/. If it were possible, I'd love to have an open-eyed and sleeping version of each of my dolls, but alas, it's not possible because often only one version is available (and I can't see myself modding eyes open or closed). So I get them when I can. On my wishlist at the moment: Zaoll Luv dreaming head, to go with my open-eyed doll :).

    7. I don't like them in general, though I had a Soom ZZZ Shonki for a while, and he was a lot more diverse than I'd thought he would be... I also have an Elfdoll R.Lydia head (destined for a Dollstown Elf body someday~) who I've painted to look dead, as she is a ghost. Her face is also surprisingly versatile, she can look peaceful, content, sad, tired, lonely, lost, etc... But I don't think I'll ever get another sleeping face doll...

    8. I have a sleeping head, I really ordered it because I was certain I would use it, but sadly it has only left the box two-three times. I felt bad, so I did a photoshoot and later stored it again. I hope that when My LTF has her new wig I will use it more. It is kind of frustrating having this head and not taking it out regularly.

    9. I've only got the extra sleeping head for my F60 girl so far and I haven't used it yet, but I really want to. I just gave her a quick temporary faceup when she arrived that I haven't replaced yet... when I get the time to repaint her better I'll paint up the sleeping head as well. Not sure how much I'll use it, but for the little bit extra it cost I think I'll be happy to have it around.

I also ordered the sleeping heads with my two tanned minifee that have yet to arrive. I think it'll suit those characters. Part of me wishes I had the sleeping heads for all my minifee but I don't see that ever happening, I'd need a whole extra storage bin just for sleepy heads!

    10. I do not like them, do not see the point in them...
Although they are very cute for pictures probably.)

    11. I have the sleeping faceplate for my ante but I rarely use it, its just nice to have incase I need it for a photo or story.

    12. When I bought my first doll, I didn't get the sleeping face simply because it would've been so much more money to get the sleeping faceplate w/ makeup. Some days I regret it but most of the time I don't even see myself changing the plate much anyways so it would've been wasted on me I suppose. Not to mention it's easy to make a convincible sleeping pose without the plate anyways.

    13. Not usually; most of the dolls I want don't have them, anyway. I am getting an RS Fei in the (hopefully near) future, and she's the sleeping version of their Mei. But she's going to shell a blind character whose eyes were sewn shut, so it makes a bit of a difference.

    14. I don't own a doll with a sleeping face, but I do want at least one or two in the future. I intend to use them as their own characters though and I don't plan for them to have open-eyed faces.

    15. I have sleeping head and I like him. But actually I didn't use it very much.. :(

    16. Yes I have one and now use it pretty often, but I think when my doll finally gets a faceup it will be less often, just because the faceplates of my doll don't hold on well =/

    17. When ordering a Doll from Fairyland or other doll companies, I am always torn if I should Buy with a Sleep face or Not?...I do love the Sleep Faces but I wonder how many time or ways I could take pictures with them?...I only have 2 of my Littlefee Dolls with a Sleep face, oh, and one Pukifee on the way with a sleep face also...So I was just curious what most collectors think about sleep faces really?....are they worth the extra financial layout?...If you have any, how often have you used them in pictures?...I must admit I do think it is cute to have one of my dolls on show in her Pj's in bed asleep though, and if money was not an option...I think I'd always buy the Sleepy Face...what do you think?

Oh, and would love to see some of your pictures with creative sleep shots please! x

P.S. Hope I have posted here in the right thread...General Discussion?

    18. Four of my five LittleFees have their sleeping faceplates (the remaining was an event plate). I do enjoy having them both for pictures and just posing on my shelf; my incoming LTF will include one, and the last one I will buy will also come with a sleeping faceplate.

I did go back and forth a bit on them, myself; the first was a special case where he included it no matter what, but with the remaining ones I had to order it, and I do think that if I hadn't had the included faceplate on the first doll, I might not have purchased them for the remaining ones. I considered ordering the set without their sleeping plates, but eventually decided to do so. Likewise, on my incoming MiniFee, I waffled on ordering the sleeping head, and ended up not ordering it at first. (FairyLand was kind enough to allow me to add it to the order a bit later, when I did regret it enough to fully change my mind.)

They may not be as useful as the OE plates and heads the dolls come with as their defaults, but they do appeal to me, and I do like the added visual element of it, so to me, I do feel that the sleeping plates/heads are worth the investment, as long as they aren't the default. I don't think I'd want a doll with constantly closed eyes, but having the option available is a lot of fun!

    19. I totally agree with you Vicemage...I order Minifee Rin through the a la carte menu and without a Sleep face...Now I do regret it! :-/
Like yourself, I think it's just having that added visual to play with :)

    20. To be honest, the sleeping plates are what made me want a Littlefee in the first place. I love the idea of having my doll's awake and asleep it really helps for pictures and gives you a much wider ranged of options.
