1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Sleeping faces - do you have/use them?

May 11, 2013

    1. I don't own sleeping faces for any of my dolls currently, since I think most didn't even have that option, if they did, I didn't know it or couldn't get it for whatever reason, but I'd LOVE to have the option for all of them. Sleeping pix are just so cute. :)

    2. I love dolls with closed or partially open eyes. They aren't necessarily sleeping. They can also be looking down or thinking or going through some emotional intensity or leaning in for a kiss! If the mouth is open or pursed they could be singing!
In many ways I find them more interesting, realistic and versatile than the wide-eyed sculpts.

    3. I like the sleeping faces, I have one doll with ONLY a sleeping face and have a sleeping face for a doll in progress (buying a third face for it when I get the body). Options are nice, makes the doll more versatile, tho if its a whole second head its a bit of a pain lol.

    4. I like dreamy eye shapes, but when they are too closed it seems like they are in another world. Great for some people, but I prefer awake and alert expressions. :)

    5. In the beginning, i thought i would not be able to live without a sleeping head for my doll, if it was available at order time. But honestly, i found that i never really use it, in fact i dont really like it all that much. The sleeping head increases resale value, so that is a good thing (as it is a face that can be modded into anything, and matches the body skintone 100%)

But right now, i would not buy a sleeping head (i was tempted with unoa lusis, but i know i wont use it, so i didnt, and most likely will not regret it)

Its a different story if you feel your character needs it, if you enjoy various photoshoots... And they are not that expensive anyways

    6. When I first starting looking into different company sculpts, I almost always saw sleeping faces here and there, but I honestly thought they were useless. The thought of having a doll that's asleep all the time was really boring to me, and it still is, although some of them do look cute, I just don't picture myself actually buying one.

However, now I've come to realise that sleeping faces are great...but only when you have the open eyes face as well. Like Reveta said, it gives you a variety of pictures, and the doll doesn't have to be actually sleeping in a bed only. Many models close their eyes in pictures and ads and such, and they're obviously not sleeping lol. It's "sensual" almost, and you can also go a long way with the face-up for a sleeping face, since you have a better "canvas" :)

    7. I have closed eye alternate heads for several of my BJDs, and I love them! I wish I could get them for more of my BJDs. And my DollZone Yue, Tyler, always has his eyes closed (he's not sold in an open eye version), but he isn't sight impaired or sleeping in my storyline. He's just as active as everyone else!

Here's a pic of Kaoru (my SoulDoll Lune, right) wearing his sleep head. The faceup is painted to match the one on his "awake" head.

    8. The first time I saw one, I thought it useless. Why would I want a doll with closed or nearly closed eyes?
Since then time has pased and I like my collections compleat. The moment I decided on a Littlefee it was no issue, the sleeping faceplate was a must have.
Uses, I have nearly non for it, just made one shoot with it this last year, but the value of collecting is there for me ^^.

    9. I'm not really much of a fan of sleeping or half-open eyed faces. I don't know, they just seem a little odd to me. In certain contexts and certain photoshoots I can see where they'd come in handy but at this stage I don't think I'll be getting any.

    10. When I ordered Guy, I had the option to buy a sleeping face - but I didn't. I sometimes regret the decision, but most times I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money on the face as I probably wouldn't have used it much. I will admit it would be cute to get a picture of him sleeping, but beyond that, I wouldn't have a need for it. I would rather spend the money on clothes or shoes or wigs than a sleeping head and I don't need something lying around that I'm not going to use. So if the option came up again, I would most likely pass on it.

    11. No sleeping faces here. I enjoy the beauty of the eyes too much.

    12. Nope. The closest I have is the half-open eye option on one of my Withdoll heads. I'm not opposed to them, but I think that if I were to get one, it would be that doll's only, permanent head. I can't see having multiple heads for one character when it comes to my collection.

    13. If company offer sleeping face I always get one, I may not use it much compare to open eye face.
But who's know, in the future I may need to mod them to get other expression and feel I want or if something happen to OE face (like drop on the floor and break it, dog/cat bite, ...etc.)
then I still have spare for the doll sculpt I love.

Some company not offer just head to sell as a part so if something happen to the doll face/head we can't replace it but have to order the full doll.
And also even you have money to buy new full doll, the company not always have that doll available to sell, some of them if sold out and no plan to reproduce in a future if you really like that sculpt you may not be able to get it at all, it will be hard to find.

    14. I don`t really like sleeping or half-open eyed faces. I have one doll with extra sleeping face. I don`t use it. Only as a model for doll`s makeup

    15. One of my dolls, a Fairyland Real Puki, has a sleeping face. I haven't used it much yet, but I think it gives the doll a different kind of expression, so I wanted to have it for times when her character is really happy.

    16. I think sleeping faces are so cool! the only downside is you have to have them painted to match... that seems tedious! but how cool that I could make my dolls cuddle or sleep!

    17. I can sort of get the appeal for certain characters and photo opportunities, but it's not something that appeals to me personally. I like to be able to see my dollies eyes.

    18. I've never used sleeping faces before, but now I'm starting to like an idea of a sleeping/meditating character.

    19. I love the ones that have the ever so slightly open dreamy look but the entirely closed eyes spook me a bit...but I would still probably use a sleeping head if I got it as a gift. Idk maybe make it into a zen monk character or something. But for now mine all have open eyes.

    20. I unexpectedly fell in love with a Dollmore guy with half-closed eyes, Masterful Kasi Dan. Maybe it's because there are already two boys with open eyes in my doll family. But he is giving me the impression not of absentedness, but of intense focus on me when I look at him^^. It's a question of how I perceive his personality I suppose, and I am very curious about how the real feel in comparison to the pictures will work.
