1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Small World

Mar 23, 2016

    1. I have lived in my city for about ten years off and on. For the past four years I have lived a block away from a bright yellow building with pink trim. I drive by it every day on my way to work. I noticed the title, but I always thought it was a trading card company. I always noticed the Star Wars logo more than anything else.

Flash forward to last night. I can't sleep. I'm watching an unboxing video and the person has made their purchase from Mintoncard. I notice the yellow. I notice the pink. The font looks oh so familiar. Wait a minute.

Are you kidding me? This morning I immediately drive the block down my street on my way to work and sure enough. Mintoncard. Right there. BJD doll art in the windows...how had I not noticed this before? I've been obsessing over BJDs now for ages...just wishing I could see one in real life and there is an official BJD store a block from my house. Sadly I had to go to work, but I'm so excited! Now when my BJD arrives, I know I'm not alone. I have this place here that can help me if something goes wrong. My greatest fear was learning how to restring my doll. Now help is just down the road.

I still feel like a complete idiot for not noticing that they are literally on my drive to work every day. Their buiding is bright yellow and pink with giant BJD pictures in the windows. I mean...how did I miss this? Really?

I'm so excited to check them out though. I've heard nothing but great things about them!

    2. Wow that is really exciting! ^^ I wish I could visit a BJD dealer store like MintonCard. One day hopefully I can visit the Dolk store in Japan. Please tell us how you find it once you get back!

    8. OT but if it helps I work at a small local business in a pretty popular strip mall and we've been here for nearly five years, and people are still coming in thinking we're brand new. So it totally happens, people don't always connect with what they are seeing right away. Great story, be sure to take advantage of your discovery now! ;)

    9. That's a pretty nice luxury to have. There aren't many "brick and mortar" BJD stores outside of the main ones situated in Asia, due mainly to the additional operating costs involved, as compared to an internet-based store. It's definitely nice to be able to view items in hand, rather than going purely by stock photos.

    10. > Envy envy envy.
      > Macro of fat cute cat labeled "heavy breathing." (Not going to actually post the macro because it might be off-topic, I don't know.)

I'm so jealous that you have such a store nearby! Sometimes, these things have a wadi of working out.

    11. That's really lucky! I hope there's a bjd store near where I live *sighs* It would be so nice to spend some dolly time(?) there and even bring one in-stock doll home:XD:!

    13. Jealous! That's awesome! Although, if I lived near a BJD store, I'd probably never have a paycheck again. So, perhaps it's for the best :abambi:

    14. I know how you feel, when I was over in Japan on a work visa I used to go to Akihabara almost every week, I had no idea that the first building I walked by on my way out of the station was Rajio Kaikan (there was a Tenshi No Sukima in the building).

I probably walked by it for like, 5 months before I found-out there was a Tenshi No Sumika inside! I felt so dumb, but quite happy when I realized how close good bjd supplies were~<3

    15. I know that feeling! I visit Korea quite a few times...and I love seeing the Nine9 cafe and Volks Korea store. I feel really awkward there though since I don't have any dolly friends or dolls when I visit Korea. I missed the opportunity to attend their largest convention, which are quite cheap compared to US conventions.

    16. That's so exciting! I know I had similar feelings realizing I live close to DDE.
