1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

SO many Sculpts, how do you research?

Feb 17, 2013

    1. I just randomly find one while browsing their website like you said haha I may search the sculpts other people owns which I like how they look also :)

    2. Browsing company face-ups, flickr streams and groups, the news section on DoA and the gallery. That way you find lots of sculpts you will love^^

    3. It really varies. Sometimes I just find them on the company's site or here on DoA. Once I find a sculpt I like, I search for it on Flickr. Flickr has a lot of beautiful dolly photos from owners. It gives me an idea on how the doll looks in different face-ups, outfits and etc.

    4. Usually I find out about them here when browsing through box opening threads.

    5. I randomly browse, I did and do most browsing with one of my best friends, without him I wouldn't even know about bjds! I just browse and browse looking at ones I can't possibly afford at the present...

    6. When I was starting to get into the hobby, I looked for lists of BJD companies that were as complete as possible and browsed through every single one listed. It was time consuming, but definitely fun as I learned a ton of things including most of the jargon (size, face up, price range, resin color, etc).

I'm also a bit of a chain clicker so I got hooked watching different how-to videos on YouTube as well as company reviews (for posing mostly, also really adorable box openings etc).

After that, I just kind of had the hobby hanging around while I earned money for my first so I followed a ton of BJD blogs on Tumblr. I'm always pleasantly surprised to find out about new companies! Dollstowishfor keeps me updated with new releases and events.

    7. What I did is look at various sculpts from different companies. Some had a style that I liked, some didn't. When I found companies that had a few particularly pretty (in my opinion) sculpts, I looked through the rest of their dolls to see if there was one I really, truly liked. It was time consuming, but fun.
