1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

So you got a doll... now what?

Feb 27, 2016

    1. When I get a doll, I tend to carry her (or ocassionally him) around a lot for the first few days. Then she immediately goes to a shelf somewhere nearby to sit. Hopefully she has eyes, but I now have the kit to make my own eyes so I can pop some in right away. If she has no wig, I will make one immediately even if it's by crochetting, as I did with my second doll since she had a funny sized head. Faceup, also the second weather allows me to spray some MSC (assuming she doesn't already have one, which I prefer) and usually she'll get body blushing at the same time, though less likely if she's already got the face up and I'm busy. Then. even if she's buck naked, she's sitting out on a shelf, not back in her box. Eyes, hair and facial features, you're on display where I can gaze at you lovingly, hopefully dolls have no modesty! I'm laughing at the idea the first thing you'd buy for your doll is another doll so she has a friend.... but yes! If I'm being totally honest, somewhere during this process there's an okay chance I'll have spotted another doll I just "have to have" and so she won't be lonely, my first and second dolls arrived on the same day x.x At this stage I get to making some simple clothing. Or if she came with clothes, possibly tracing around those clothes to make the same thing in a colour I prefer. Now she's probably getting a new wig or new eyes made, and the cycle continues.Then.... then maybe I name her and start getting a sense of her back-story or personality. But honestly that stage hasn't come yet for a lot of my dolls. It depends. Some dolls are so versatile they are harder to find out about (I think of it more as discovering a character than writing one, because the dolls seem to have so much input) like my resinsoul Li might be my favourite doll. But she's so darn versatile, I've had her for maybe a month and all I know is she's Asian, modern and she likes grey and her hobbies include... kicking me in the face.

    2. Sorry, accidentally/technical error caused double post.

    3. Once I get a doll, I usually store it in the official box for a while until I get everything doll-related stuff for the doll, such as eyes, clothes, shoes, etc. I usually buy eyes first, then clothes and shoes. The final step is to build a diorama doll room by myself.

    4. I unexpectedly received a doll much quicker than the average wait times, I'm grateful, but, I was not prepared at all. I love her, I really want to take her out every second, but I unstrung her and I'm in the process of buying more elastic. She needs a faceup, clothes and I'd like to try making her a wig. I have many plans for her, but I'm also waiting on more dolls. The struggle is real.

    5. Photograph it naked blank, eyeless and bald, ofc! I enjoy the look of unfinished and especially ‘blank slate’ dolls in a different way than I do the completed ones. Some of my dolls may never be ‘complete’...or finished.
