1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Some thoughts after visiting the SOOM store in Harajuku

Jan 31, 2009

    1. Unfortunately their staff does not speak English, but with hand gestures and a conversation book we were able to get by. The staff at Volks Harajuku nearby did not speak English either but one of the girls had a small handheld computer translator that we communicated with. If you have one, that will help. The restaurant above Soom, Casa Nostra is a good Mediterranean restaurant. If you're hungry, I recommend it too.

    2. Well poo, hand gestures hmm. Good thing I'm brushing up on my high school japanese then :3

I'm a little iffy on going to a restaurant so closely named after the mob, but if you recommend it then I think i can try it out :P haha

    3. Here are some of my pictures from my visit to the store on Thursday ^.^
      (Sorry they're not that great... >.< )

All of the pictures can be found in my photobucket album here.

The Rosette dolls reminded me a bit of xxxHolic and Tsubasa characters with the long limbs. All the dolls were very pretty ^.^ They also had a nice selection of clothes, shoes, and wigs for sale.

    4. id love to visit the Soom store in Japan (any of them..?)
if i do get to go there next year, then im hoping that i would be able to go.

i hope that if i do get the business that i want to run that i will have dolls on hand that people can buy and walk out with!

    5. I actually visited the Soom store yesterday. And the girl working there understood most of my english. I do talk some japanese though.^^
She was so incredibly sweet and answered all of my questions and all other weird things I had on my mind.
I was a little surprised the store was so small though..I had imagined something biig!
One thing that really got me were the doll eyes. really beautiful IRL! <3

    6. oh wow, I;ve been to the volks store there, but I didn't know that there was a Soom store in Harajuku
      is it new? D:

    7. keiko-chan! OMG! THAT is what the Rosette School girls remind me of! CLAMP characters!

GAH, that has been racking my brain for so long! XD

    8. What a pity that the shop wasn't already opened last year when I spent some months in Tokyo  But I'll definitely go and visit the store in summer when I'm back there :D Special thanks for the pictures! I think this way I can find it a lot easier now :D

    9. It's pretty easy to find if you just turn left at Gap and keep walking ... past am/pm ... and it's pretty soon after that.

I was also surprised how tiny it is, especially considering the humongous dolls they have. And surprised at how small 80cm dolls look if they're not sitting next to other sized dolls.

    10. I would love to see more pics of the store. So lucky to go there in person

    11. yay going to japan next month and during my free week i'm hunting down volk and soom store :)

    12. i,m jealous... i would really love to check out a live store.

    13. I noticed there has been a little bit of discussion on how to find the SOOM store in Harajuku, so I made a photo guide. Here is the link to it: Photo guide to the SOOM store in Harajuku, Japan Hope it helps.

Also, here are a few photos of Black Culprit, who happened to be on display this day! When I went back a few days later, she was gone. She was really pretty in person! :aheartbea

      Check out those hooves!

    14. Just a warning - the SOOM store is closed on a Wednesday. I went on a Wednesday (last day in Tokyo for Golden Week), but yeah... we found out the hard way.

So if you plan to go to the SOOM store, go on a day OTHER than Wednesday! :)

    15. Oh man! I want to go to all the doll stores there! I'll be in Japan over the summer for about 5.5 weeks, but four of them will be spent studying Japanese over in Kanazawa. I think I should just move there so I can go see all the things that I want to.

    16. oh, Cuprit's very pretty! thanks for hte pics!!
