1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom Gem Discussion

Jun 9, 2011

    1. It's a huge shame that the Gem fell in popularity and I do wish that they'd update the body at least so that maybe they'd have another shot at being popular again ^_^ I think they'd make a good addition to the MD line as well... *sigh* I really want a Mirabil but I'm just unable to deal with single joints ^^;

Edit: Well... now that I've thought about it... I may just actually get her anyway... I have a plan a'brewin'...

    2. I totally, absolutely and completely agree with you Second_banshee. If they updated the body I'd buy an entirely new Namu to be a twin or clone of my current one. I like Mirabil too but single joints are a dealbreaker. If they did a revival or pulled a Fairyland and did the Gem sculpts in different sizes I'd be all over them.

    3. I'm pulling this thread from the ashes again, I absolutely agree with you all, Soom needs to put attention to their Gem line again! I don't mind single-jointed bodies much, but it seems that the general doll collector does nowadays. If Soom updated their Gem bodies and/or put out some MDs with the classic sculpts like Namu or Gena that would be so cool and would guarantee a new interest in the Gem line I think.
I really like Namu and Kanoa (and Asil, shame she's discontinued), I think one of them will be a part of my doll family in the future. How does the Gem body pose? It looks like the V1 Delf body, does it sit and stand passably? :)
Oh and btw I had to manually look for this thread myself (it was on page 8!), it wouldn't come up when I searched for "Soom" in the Larger Dolls subforum. How strange!

    4. May I necro this thread again?
Somebody in my local comm is selling their Gem for a very reasonable price. I'm not a huge fan of single-jointed dolls, but for that price, it's more than worth.

My question is, can someone show me the poseability of their male gem body? (I know I could just ask the seller, but I'd feel really bad if I ask for a bunch of pics but end up not buying it)

    5. Is this thread dead? I am doing some research on soom gem dolls, and I wanted to ask if anyone knew when they might have an ordering period again?

    6. :bump

I know this thread is pretty much dead, but I was wondering if anyone knows when Soom officially discontinued the Basic Gem line of dolls that included Gena, and Namu?

I tried to do some research in the News Archive, but really couldn't find anything.

I remember I kept visiting the Soom site in hopes of getting a Namu head, but it always showed as "Sold Out". I finally gave up looking in late 2012. So, I'm just curious, did they cancel the Basic Gems when they discontinued the Super Gems?

    7. Hello, I'm not sure if they officially discontinued the line but I saw a Soom Namu for sales on eBay as a full doll. It looks like he came with a CoA too if you want to check it out.

    8. Thanks KuroHitsuji. I saw him, and there was one for sale here in the Marketplace too, but I don't want a full doll; I only want the head. And, frankly, I don't want to buy a full doll and get stuck with the sadly-lacking early Gem body. It would be impossible to re-sell. Thanks for suggestion though!

Still wondering what year the Gems got phased out. Thanks!

    9. did you guys prefer to buy soom full doll, or just the head?
because if I'm not wrong, soom relatively more expensive than the other doll's brands so... I just want to know how you guys think XD
