1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom Idealian 75cm Discussion Part 10

Jun 10, 2021

    1. I'm curious about everyone's opinions about the interval to change the Soom elastics too, I've got 50-50 older & newer models I'm certain some are overdue. like Setsura mentioned, I can get some others to stand with the center of gravity shimmy-shake technique, but my Sooms have been not so much  so they probably need a tune up.

@OmitIdentity - I went through my history to see if I could find the seller I used, and they seem to still be around: Wholesale Leathers - eBay user id = seymourssi
eBay link for Wholesale Leathers 1.5oz - this was the "premium" grade version I got, which had no flaws throughout the piece received. I got this one to make some doll accessories and clothing, and figured I could use the scraps too.

eBay link for Wholesale Leathers 1.5oz dollmaking - this was not the premium grade, but was still very close in quality. this one was marked as undyed as a bonus.

in the states, you might still find Tandy Leathers around, but you have to really watch the listings for the thickness of the hide and they don't always say what it is. that's where the chamois type might help narrow the choices down.

    2. Many thanks! I'll do some comparing and digging around, and thank you for the wholesale leather links on eBay!! I'm not quite sure what to do with such a large piece since I only want it to suede so I guess I'll ask my local doll community if anyone wants to split it or see if there's smaller ones on eBay:3nodding:

    3. I also had my company faceup for that exact lim crack. It was under a year when I saw the cracking. The one other faceup I got from them is fine. I contacted soom and got lim redone, but I had to pay. Kinda bs since it sounds like it’s a wide spread thing.

    4. @annv did Soom have the same faceup artist repaint him for you? or did he turn out different?

I think I wouldn't qualify for after sale support as owner #2, but it's really good to know about this, especially if the faceup was "everything" to someone, even if it might cost to repair. thank you for sharing your experience

    5. They didn’t say if it was the same artist, but the faceup I got back looked more or less the same. Honestly it would probably be cheaper to go directly to the artist if they’re willing.

    6. Hi Hi!

So I recently recieved my very first Soom 75 lad, River! But I find that he....would like to kneel every given moment! lol.

Any ideas on how to improve his stability and me not getting into untoward accidents

Also any advice on protecting his resin (he's a bronze skintone)?

    7. Are folks excited about Lok? Not sure how I feel about him atm...

    8. @Kween I'm surprised that it's not sold out, just because.

    9. I'm new to Soom ID75 world, so I'm still figuring out what's popular and etc. I'm on the fence with Lok. I love his face in frontal view but not in profile view because I prefer a stronger jaw/chin. (Again this is just my preference though!)

    10. @Kween - I agree, and front vs. side profile is an astute observation to make. Some of my dolls were purchased for one or the other quite specifically. I find I get a little antsy over company doll photos if they don't have both front and side profile view pictures in the product listing.

    11. I'm reading more about how ordering certain sculpts like Hwain is near impossible because of its popularity in China. Now I'm wondering why Lok isn't sold out yet. Is it not a popular sculpt? Is it the economy/tariffs causing people to pull back on spending?

    12. It's rare [to me] for any sculpt not to sell out, but I only been around for over a year. I waited so long, that I gave up. After I bought a 70 sculpt (from a different company), all of a sudden Idealian was NOT sold out for one sculpt. And, the irony is, I really liked that Idealian that wasn't sold out. (The order window closed, before it sold out. So, it probably won't get re-released anytime soon and I might not see it second hand.)
Edit: BTW, I love my 70cm doll VERY much. :love

    13. @tinyflame I am sorry to hear! What sculpt was that?

    14. Wenzel. I would have bought a white resin. But, I also would have been determined to mod, give him larger cheeks and the look of deep set eyes.

    15. The fact that he hasn't sold out is probably evidence that he isn't popular. Also, I believe this is the first time a 'normal' version of him has been released, so he hasn't really been around long enough to get really popular. Tariffs almost certainly have nothing to do with it since the current tariffs only effect US citizens, and it's China that is Soom's biggest market currently (and then it's home market of Korea probably). That's why dolls started selling out to begin with, because Chinese doll owners took to Soom in a big way.

    16. The US tariff is still a nightmare... feared the price of PanPastel (made in China) would be go up, so added some for face ups. :whee:
Lok is beautiful but I've been waiting for Zak now, so maybe next time. Here is my newboy R-Hugh on YC body, I love it!

    17. Is there still a massive demand for OE Hyun in normal skin? I just fell in love with the sculpt damnit.

    18. I got a shipping notice for my Storm today, just a few days shy of 3 months of when I ordered him.
