Soom Legend Collection: Quartz - Ice Dragon

I think someone who buys this boy is gonna have a really wonderful and interesting sculpt on their hands, but I must agree that the lack of parts feels rushed a bit. At the very least some clawed hands with or without (preferably with) the blue resin would have been nice, even if they didn't give us wings (which also would have been nice, as these only come with the outfit I think?). Maybe a tail or something? I feel like maybe Soom is doing that thing where they simply put too much on their plate, and have a lack luster release of a doll that could have been a big seller for them, becaus elects face it "ice dragon" pretty much always equals want, but you have to put in the effort to make a doll worth almost 800 starting...and that toga, cure or not...is not worth as much as they are asking! Okay, well Soom...please Little Gem dragon elves next?

 

It would have been cool to give him some claw hand parts in that same clear resin as his claw feet...maybe a tail... They are calling him an "ice dragon" but I feel they could have added more to him to make him fit that.

He is quite lovely though... But.... I dunno, if I had the money for him, I'd lilkely still save it for something that pops more to me.

 

Yay, it's about time Soom released something I can go meh to.

What a shame though. Ice Dragon, it could have been so great. The horns are too small for him. The colour is just a tad too pale (or greenish). No claws - what? And don't get me started on those wings. He's a bit heavy to be a tree topper. If he didn't have claws then why didn't he have wings or a tail. They could have learned something from Loongsoul's Dragon.

The pricing is just not working out for me either. Epidia for only $25 more you get tawny skin (which has always been extra), kitty paws, a tail, claw hands and an extra head - Quartz you get dragon feet and horns.

too bad they didn't make it in normal skin..or at least optional ears...

 

While I am completely in love with him in both colors, he does seem pricey for the number of parts for a Super Gem. Not that it matters. He is the most excited I have been for a Soom doll since Phonolus came out in WS. I actully like Quartz's head sculpt better.

Has anyone seen a Haidi or Taco in person? On my computer monitor Quartz looks like a perfect shade of icy pale blue, but my iPad turns him (Taco and Haidi too) into an odd off greenish gray white. Which one is telling the truth?!

I'll be getting this guy in WS but man oh man will he need some hybrid work. He's going to be the brother to my Arkose and that means he needs wings...maybe a set of Bazel wings air brushed a dark shimmery blue hmmmm oh and Sphalers claws~

Just thought I'd add his face mold seems like a hybrid between Heliot and Arkose, I'm a little concerned of the finish on the joint of his Talon given the record I've had with sphalers but we'll see

 

That ice crown is stunning, I have to say. The face is beautiful, but not quite to my taste... At least, I don't think it is. (Owner pics could have me eating my words.) The claws are very Arkose-meets-Cuprit, and I think that they're pretty fab. I do have to agree that resin wings would have been nice, though.

 

I'll definitely be getting this guy in WS as I'm in love with his face. I thought I'd be safe from Soom for awhile.....I'll never get away.

 

Holy cr*p he is absolutely beautiful! But 1200$ for a fullset is too pricey for me.
Really lovin the resin color and his fantasy parts. Too bad Soom doesn't do tails anymore (?).

 

I love the face sculpt and his color, but they could have done resin wings. What is up with those silly lace things sticking up? Thankfully this boy does not have enough going for him to make me want. Now if they do a super gem girl in this color---that might be a different story.

 

On my monitors both at home and at work, he's looking "beauty green"/mint green in some shots, a sickly greenish grey in others, like he might . Poor guy, maybe's he's sick! :p

Speaking as someone whose only Soom doll to date has been a Rosette School of Dolls (since sold), I have to say this doll's facial sculpt is enough to lure me over to the Soom side, so long as the white doesn't have a greenish cast.

I don't go for fantasy parts, so the lack of resin wings doesn't bother me, so long as the tinsel ones can be removed. The clothes are a turn-off. What else can these dolls wear?

im highly interested in this boy..but in his face/head only...so i'd need to find someone who would want the body .

 

I used to own a Haidi. The colour on my screen looks right but monitors vary...

It is a very very subtle pale tinted blue that isn't very noticable until you have it next to another doll. I don't think I have any photos of her with any other dolls to compare, sorry. The blushing on my Haidi really brought out the blue.

I really like the colour and if I were to get this boy I would probably opt for the blue.

 

On Soom's order page, what is the difference between "simple" and "extra" under body type? I can't find any explanation of it on their site.

 

vermont chick: someone will correct me if i am wrong, but 'simple' has 'regular straightforward legs'. With the 'extra' the legs have that 'swivel cut' up at the top of the thigh.

About colour issue i see him gray/light green as well, perharps may he look a little green due to body blushing?
