Soom [MD/Apr] Hati & Skoll – Ignis Fatuus

I think they have such cute faces, but yes I am in the camp of wanting a baby crab T___________T The wolves are cute, but I can't say that I'm not disappointed But for those of you who get them, I can't wait to see them in the gallery threads ^_^ (although that will be a long wait ^^; )

 

Oooh, I remember seeing bag'hnak in a museum years and years ago and thinking they (and the story that went with them) were really neat, and assigning them to a character. And now they exist in doll form! I think I can resist though? Maybe?

 

They are really cute, but I'm safe. I'd have loved to see a baby scorpion!

 

True. I think that would have melted my heart. X3 Wolves are cute but not as original as a scorpian would have been.

 

I'm not tempted by them but the picture of Hati on Vesuvia's tail and Skoll being held by Bix are totally squee-worthy! Too cute! X3

I'm kind of glad they won't be sticking only to the previous monthly dolls for the tinies, since I think Beryl was the only MD I liked the concept of enough to get in a tiny version (and I ordered Glot) but maybe now they will come up with some other cute new concepts to tempt me!

...though maybe I should be unhappy since it might be bad news for my wallet?

 

I really like the heads, I have to admit: more than my incoming Glati's face in fact. I may just keep an eye out for splits for the head

Personally I'm not sure about the paws... the biologist in me can't take the three-toed paws! I wish they had tails as part of their ensemble too.

Hmm... I wonder what their 2nd land rival will look like? Wolf, Arachnid, Crustacean or something new?

 

The only thing I am gutted over is that Glot and Glati are white skin whereas these little wolf cubs are NS. I prefer NS dolls over WS dolls any day...but don't get me wrong, still excited about my Glot!

 

I too love the heads, and actually think that Skoll is a cuter boy than Glati (please don't kill me xDDD)

Hati right now I'm totally loving.. Not really sure about the wolf thing yet but I love her outfit and hair and everything.. Right now I'm thinking that if I decide to go with her, I'll keep her human. I just really wanted a scorpion baby SO BADLY. Selling out and making something cute is kind of irritating! xD
Though I also felt weird about Cuprit's hooves when I ordered her and thought I'd keep her human, until I went and actually saw her in person and was completely sold on them!
So maybe when I see Hati I'll be the same (personally I'm hoping I'll hate her in person, but there you go xDD)

 

Oh noes, they're normal skin? I totally missed that: so it's not like I could spilt the head and stick it on my Glati anyway Boo hiss boo...

 

Well I caved and got a Skoll... even though, to be honest, I think Soom could have done better with the whole wolf-themed doll deal, but I'm not complaining either. I just wish they had made Hati the boy instead lol! It doesn't make sense to have Skoll as the boy to me ~.~ Ah well, not that it matters since I won't be keeping his name as Skoll when he arrives.

I'm a fan of WS personally and really hoped they'd keep all the teenies WS, or some insane skin colour like grey or whatever.
I too was also thinking of mixing and matching with my Glot! D:
It makes sense though if you think about it. They come from a land of FIRE. Somehow it just seems right that their skin tone is a little warmer!

Am I the only one who kinda sees kittens over wolves?

What I do like is that their body blushing is similar to Glot and Glati, except reversed.
Glot was the browny/red, and Glati the grey/blue. Now it's the girl who gets to be the grey/blue!
This is great for people who got Glot, and really wanted a more blue toned girl too, and visa versa, people who got Glati but want a browny coloured boy!

 

They're so cute, but as much as I love wolves and would love a wolf-themed doll.... they really just look like any other 'cat' doll, not a pair of little wolves.

I guess they did it this way because Vesuvia and Bix didn't sell as well as the others.

 

Just to add on to the, "they look like cats" thing!

My Yuna (abyssinian) just came and sat on me as she likes to do, and I suddenly realized that Hati and Skoll LOOK LIKE HER!
Which is a weird thing to say xD
Her little paws just look like their paws!
Plus she's a puppy kitten, in that she behaves more like a dog than a cat, so it's even MORE bizzare that soom have created these Wolfy teenies that remind me of my silly puppy kitten

Are all the people who were looking forward to a wolf doll disappointed? Or is this exactly what you were hoping for?

 

You know, I completely agree with you on the cat doll part. The paws looked like cat paws to me too. At least the hand parts do. I doubt I'll be using those with my Skoll. I'm definitely keeping the leg parts, but that's about it.

I think it would have been a lot better if they made the paws more wolf-ish in my opinion. And if they gave the dolls wolf-tails or something like that. However, I do like what they did to their ears.

And unfortunately for me, regardless of how unwolfish they may look, it's Hati and Skoll. I was doomed from the moment Soom announced their names XD

 

Oh yes, I'm disappointed all right. I was actually hoping for a super gem sized wolf themed doll. But then Soom announced their line up of MDs and I noticed immediately Hati and Skoll were stuck in the teenie gem's category. As I said in my previous post, yes, I think they do look feline more than canine and it's disappointing they didn't just go ahead and do baby versions of Vesuvia and Bix like everyone speculated they would (that way I wouldn't have wanted either Skoll or Hati!).

 

This is how I'm feeling too.. I really like the feet, but right now something isn't working for me with the hands.
I think a lot of it is also how Soom have set them up. The way Hati puts her little paw up is SO cat like. Skoll I can see more as a wolf but Hati is just SUCH a kitten!
Not that this bothers me, as I didn't have the strong tie to them being wolves that some did, but I can see how this might turn some people off!

 

That's kind of what I thought. The WOLF vibe just isn't as strong as it could be.
And I do wonder why they don't have tails... a big wolf like tail would probably help steer them away from looking like kittens (just cause cat and wolf tails are so different)
Maybe you just need to make a tail for your Skoll? xD

There's also still a chance that Chrom will be wolfy?
I mean, if they've opted for cute little wolves over scorpions and crabs, possibly in the hope that they'll sell better, it seems really unlikely they'd make a scorpion/crab/spider/whatever god.
A dragon seems a really possible god, but maybe it needs to be something that ties the wolves into to the whole theme? WHO KNOWS! xD

 

Lol, isn't it amazing how much cuter a wolf is perceived over a scorpion, when they're both dangerous? That stuck me as a lovely piece of irony: us debating the cuteness of wolves...

It's a shame they're not more wolfy... and my mind won't accept those three toed paws AT ALL :P I think you're all right about the cat thing: poor SOOM!

I wasn't so much set on a baby crab or scorpion, but I was hoping they'd stick to the trend so that later there'd be a baby heliot >.>

I thought I wouldn't like wolves at all, but these guys are pretty cute ^^ I'm not sure why they didn't do detachable ears or some sort of tail though, hrrrm. Maybe they were worried the ears would make them more cat like, and I guess the ears on the head itself are shaped instead.

Either way, they're cute and I'm interested to see what people do with them when they're released, but I'm not soomed this time, hehe. ^^

When I sat down and thought about it, I realized I'd be freaking out over wolf dolls if they were kind of uhhhh.. scary and hardcore! Like Vesuvia and Bix were!
If they'd gone a little tougher with these 2, I think we'd be getting the wolfy vibe!
But cause they're SO cute and Hati has her little paw up and.. yeah.. all we can see is tiny harmless kittens!

The good thing is that I love kittens, and I think if I go with Hati, she'll be a kitten and not a wolf in my mind.

The problem I'm starting to see is that, ALL THE TEENIES ARE ADORABLE!
I can say NO to the Super Gem sized dolls... tell myself that one is enough.. but I seem unable to say no to teenies, especially fantasy themed ones!
