Soom MD: May Grit and Syen- Little Guardians!

Ohhh ty! I might really like to do that I was also thinking of
trying my first split and seeing who wanted the outfits but not
the necklaces. Hopefully I won't like the outfits....
The necklace looks like it's a handblown glass bead with a bit
of silver foil inside and the blue-green one looks like it's in the
shape of an urn, which for some reason I find interesting, but
the pink one is likely the same shape too.
Their horns and wings look like the same transparent resin as
Byggs horn was, seems Soom opted not to blush them which
is good for those that might not get blushing (like me) I was
a bit disappointed when I saw Ai/Afi's little horns looked very
different without the blushing and you could see the magnets
underneath, but I guess it's an easy fix with a bit of pearl powder.
I've been waiting for my Ai/Afi to be shipped for a month now...
the wait is killing me but hopefully their arrival will help me while
I wait for Grit & Syen
Can anyone tell how much I love these two?? I can't seem to
shut up

 

*giggle* Lula, I feel the same way! For me it's mostly so exciting because I'll have my first, first-hand doll! A real box, from SOOM no less! I think the transparent resin might actually be a shade darker than Bygg's horn, so hopefully it'll hide the magnets well!

 

I'm curious about the pink corset outfit. Oh man... I really like the style so far. I hope it's a long skirt style.

Actually it was Thursday around 11:30 pm when I found the pics for Syen & Grit. I checked doa to see what everyone was saying and then I posted the new news thread. The pics could have been there for a while.

dolls are really nice, especially when you miss out
on a soom release....but it's so much fun opening
up a fresh Soom box!!!
Yeah I think you're right, the resin looks darker, more
black while Byggs is kind of a smoky color. Those wings
are sooo cute!! I've had their pictures up since it was
released and while I look at other things online I'll look
over at their picture
guess I should just print out their picture...but I have to
find my pink ink cartridge first.

 

Lulu I was disappointed about the horns also and geez I wish they would make & ship my Afi & Ai !!! I've been waiting two months since I paid now.

Afi pics like Felias beast's Icon and the fact that they are shipping Chalco's and Breccia's make me even more impatient!!

I bought a Chalco ns head in a split and it is on shipping and will probably be in the States by Tuesday. which is great but geez I want my Afi & Ai



On these new dolls I 'm interested in seeing what the dolls outfits will look like. I think I will like the pink one. I hoping that the top is a corset and there is a skirt for the bottom, maybe I will try to get it in a split.

Chrystika: Is SOOM always so lagged with the MDs?

 

Soom used to ship even slower when it came the MDs..that new 100 day guarantee really changed things..I'm not sure if it's for the better or not..but it doesn't seem like they are having too many manufacturing issues..I know when they were struggling to get all the Heliot's out a lot of 'em had problems. x-x

I think a lot of it depends on how many orders they get as well..I mean less orders means fewer dolls to make which can either mean they take more time to be more careful or they are faster because they aren't making as many.

At any rate I'm just really, really looking forward to seeing more pictures of these darlings and fearing being Soomed. ^_^ Hoping for some gender neutral bodies as well because..well I prefer them I think. Though I personally liked the hermaphrodite body. ;p I don't want a girl so gender neutral is best I think..though I believe if I get one of these darlings it will be the gray one.

No I think it is only with the people who had long layaways, because most Ai/Afi people have gotten their dolls. I'm starting to think that they give priority to the people that pay immediately. I guess Soom had production problems with amber and a few dolls taking a long time to ship ( I think 6 months?) and people were getting very unhappy about that. After that Soom did promise that no one would wait on their dolls more than 100 days after full payment.

It's just hard seeing everyone else's dolls and then seeing dolls that came out after yours ship.

So if I was you and you order a Syen / Grit Pay right away if possible. I'm stuck in layaway land for the Appini / Shonki dolls I ordered also!

 

Chrystika that's terrible! I'm so sorry. I'm afraid that when the time comes that I've actually ordered a Grit/Syen I'll be joining you in layaway land. Oh well..

 

Ugh @ waiting for Ai &Afi for 2 months Chrystika!! And I know
how you feel, I'm in the same split as you for Chalco so while it's nice
to get other things in-between waiting it's also disappointing cause we
just want our dolls!!! lol Hopefully we'll both get our little deer before
the kittens start shipping....
But yes, Soom waits are a lot less, they managed to fix those problems
last year, although at first it seems they were rushing to ship dolls and
a lot of mistakes were made (missing/broken parts etc.) but I guess
things are better now (?) IF I can get these two they will be on
a long layaway. Maybe one day I'll have the $ to pay upfront...but that
would mean no doll purchases first. So layaway it is

 

I hope you get your Ai and Afi, soon. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I would hate to have to wait so long between falling in love with a doll and holding it in my hands..
I'll catch up tomorrow.

 

I'm going to go against the grain here, and say that I'm rooting for gender neutral bodies because I'd rather have a white boy >.<

I'm fairly sure that the point of the 100 day guarantee was to make sure nobody had to wait too long. I know a lot of people were angry with Chrom that people who put him on layaway and paid him off got him before people who had paid for him up right..I know I got mine earlier then some people because I ordered him blank. Seam sanding, face-ups and other options use to slow things down but now I think it's just that they will ship 100 days after you've paid in full and obviously if you have a layaway you might be waiting awhile.. x-x

I'll probably end up putting Grit on Layaway(depends on a lot) so we'll just have to see I guess. ;p

 

I emailed Soom about how long it was going to take and they said 100 days after you pay but for a faceup and sanding add extra time ( I don't remember how long) and for extras such as eyes, wigs, shoes and clothes add two longer to your order.

So I ordered all the extras except the shoes and no blushing or painting, so for me it could be 100 days + 2weeks

 

Jeez, hope you get them soon. I know how that goes. I didn't get my Bygg and Beyla till the end of January, it was killing me that it took so long for them to get them to me and then my post office was holding them for like two weeks without telling me. Was not happy. Now when I buy something from overseas for my dolls I always check USPS.com with my shipping number because they've (the post office) done that to me two other time since getting my two babies. It's extremely annoying when you're waiting for something and you know it shouldn't take as long as it is and then you look online and find it's been two blocks away for days and no one thought to inform you.

Anyway, I am almost definitely getting Grit, and am probably going to try and pay him off in one shot to avoid all that hassle again, but I just need a few more pics to make my decision final. Don't think I'll be getting the clothes, though that does look like a cute cape he has, so not sure as of yet

 

I can't even think about it! It's too depressing. I need
my dolls now!! I ordered 4 faceups both wigs 4 outfits (hehe)
and a pair of SG boots. So, yeah it's gonna be a while....

Back OT I just read the comments on Soom and this one
rubbed me the wrong way:

"I really hope that there's separate heads with them because the teaser
pictures does not make me want to buy them. There head molds are so unflattering."


Ugh. As if it's Sooms job to make dolls just for them
I didn't like the kittens, but I sure wouldn't tell Soom they
needed to make me happy!!!! *rolls eyes*
What does "so unflattering" mean anyhow? Uhh that they
don't like them, right? So then...don't buy them!!
They really just should have said ugly because you can't
say someone has an unflattering face......

That's awful your PO was holding onto your Bygg & Beyla for
that long Astolat!! I actually always use tracktrace for my
ems because I sooo don't trust the PO with my dolls.
