Soom MD: May Grit and Syen- Little Guardians!

Does anybody know if these guys use standard S hooks in their paws? Or are they the resin hooks like Shonki/Appini and Hati/Skoll? I'm guessing they're normal S hooks, but I wanted to be sure.

Second this! I was considering getting Grit's outfit for my Glati. The puffy skorts kinda killed that.

 

I loved the puff shorts! I was first trying to get Grit's outfit on a split, but didn't have much luck. But then my bf (who has a good eye for clothes) said that Syen's looked better for my Hippu, so now I'm getting that instead

 

Yeah, i'm trying to find a split for his (grit) outfit as well... i'm going to use different pants with it tho. I don't care for the puffy pants either, but I have some dark greyish black ones that I think would go nice with the rest of it. (Grit splits are hard to find tho... I want the grey gargoyle hand/paws too, but not having any luck.)

I wonder too! I hadn't even thought about it, but I hope they are like Hati & Skoll's. It is so nice to be able to sit my Hati down and just see paw pads instead of the s-hooks I see on my sister's Glati when he sits.

 

Okay, I looked and now OMG I want! I’m totally in love with Syen and the best thing is that I’ve got a character for which I’ve been looking for a little one to be her and never found exactly what I wanted but Syen is just that. Except, I’ve got no experience with Soom or fantasy parts… So I’ve got a few questions.

How is Soom as a company? Since I’m going to have to do a layaway plan (which I’ve never done before either) I would like to know how the company is in dealing with customers.

What are the wings and little horns made of exactly? It seems to be some sort of luminescent resin, how does that work exactly? And does it look good when blushed? Anyone got experience with this?

Sorry for all the questions but I like to be informed before I buy a 400USD doll I really love the OE head, the wings and horns and the outfit, I’m not really sure about the other head but I think it’s the face-up that makes is look weird but I’m not getting the face-up anyways. I’m not too fond of the poofy paws but I’ll probably have to see them in real life to make up my mind…

In the end, I think I’m Soomed XD

 

Was about to say, you can have my outfit as I'm getting the Syen outfit and not sure I can rationalize both (and I won't use the Grit outfit for sure).. but too late xD

soom is actually really good to work with. i have gotten 4 dolls from them all on lay-a-way and never had any issues.

the horns/wings look like clear resin tinted with black/gray. pretty i think. fairly sure im getting grit.

 

Soom has excellent customer service. There used to be long wait times but they have been cutting them down significantly. Their communication is good but you may still run into waiting. They have fixed up the layaway plan to so it shows the exact amonut of each payment.

The horns and wings are transparent resin. The body blushing is good but the fantasy parts are prone to the paint chipping.

As others have said, they're made of transparent resin. Same stuff as the rest of the doll. Just transparent. Check out Monzo's page for an example of blushed dark transparent resin, specifically his horns.

As far as the foot hooks go, I'm thinking they're a normal metal S hook. Shonki/Appini and Hati/Skoll all had paw pads, which seem to lend themselves better to resin hooks. Plus doesn't Soom generally add the "how to string your doll with resin hooks" pictures on the dolls that do have them?

 

Holy cow, there are like, a ton of splits open for this! For you Soom veterans, what bodies would work w/ the WS head? ( I'll probably go ask the soom tinies discussion thread too.)

 

Awwww, crap. I have resisted being Soomed the whole time I've been in the hobby, and then these two come along. They're little BATS. I have always, always, always wanted a bat tiny. Must find the money... I might be able to swing one. Probably Syen--I prefer her sculpt just slightly.
I'm not crazy about the gargoyle hands--too chubby and cute for me. I do like the little feet, I think. They're growing on me. I don't love the outfits--I find Soom MDs incredibly beautiful, but the clothes have never been my taste, except maybe Beryl's.
If I get Syen I'd probably do something darker with her--black clothes and purple dreadlocks, or something. I really hope I can organize the money for this one. We shall see...

hi, these little guys are so cute and i am really tempted to get both but... if the cost is over $1000au i would have to pay customs fees, does anyone know if soom mark down their packages or are they declared at the full amount????

Oh lord....WHY DID I LOOK AT THEM?! XD Grit is sooo cute~ I've never been one for fantasy Resin, but Grit is just too adorable to deny! I just love how cute he is with those adorable lil fangs. I was totally waiting for the next super gem...but I think Grit might have caught me in his trap! DX

 

Yes Soom does mark down the price for customs. You just need
to write it in the comments part of your order and ask them to
just to be safe.

 

So I'm thinking of running my own split for Syen.. but the question is.. WHICH HEAD DO I WANT?
I can't take both, nor do I want both as I'm already going to have this random floating head with no body xD
Plus I have Grit coming so I'm going to get both heads that way.. it really comes down to which of the Syen heads I like better.

GENERALLY I always like the OE heads better than the R.heads.. but the R.heads always get all the fantasy parts.
In this case, I don't really need 2 fanged dolls as I'll have grit, but I really do wish the OE head had the fantasy ears.
Then there's the option of having the ears on the OE head modded to look like whatever I want them to.. but that just starts to get crazy for a head I have no plans of putting on a body just yet!

Then.. do I want the faceup or not?? It looks really cute on the OE head, but of course not my thing at all and I already have SO MANY Soom dolls with default faceup.. might be nice to have one sent off to be made REALLY REALLY fantasy.

Urghh decisions decisions!

That's a lot to decide about midnite!! I usually
get the soom faceup because in the end with overseas
shipping/customs fees getting a custom faceup will cost
a lot more (I tend to lean towards european artists work)
plus I LOVE how Soom shades & blushes their GS dolls :-)
