1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Soom Monthly Dolls June (Gemini) the Third Land: Onyx - Light and Shadow

Jun 18, 2008

    1. I'm really excited about this girl. If Onyx had pointed ears, the pair of them would make a nice Princess Zelda and Midna. Can you tell I spend too much time playing video games?:sweat

    2. Well they are inspried by a game pc.

    3. Sorry if I sound like a broken record sometimes but:

Please Do Not make any mention of FS, WTS or WTBs outside of the Marketplace.

Any comments of that kind will be deleted.

    4. I hope the grey resin wasn't difficult for Soom to make. If they had a good experience, we might see other grey dolls from them or other companies in the near future! I have my heart set on a grey Heero, but stunning Dark Elves could be made, too. Onyx is so gorgeous, it'd be a shame not to make more dolls in that color.

    5. Damn, I can't believe I missed seeing this one altogether! D: Drat projects.

    6. It seems the first ones are arriving, hopefully the others from June will be shipping within a week (mine included)~

I'm disappointed, an excited, and a rumble of nerves over her, but I hope it works out in the end.

    7. on the board today:

    8. That's really good to know -- I'd been wondering! Thanks for posting the info :)

      -- A <3

    9. "Thanks a lot for your kindly understanding. "

well, I kindly don't understand that and I'm really angry with Soom right now. how many times will they change the shipping time?

    10. They're doing their best. It's not like they're purposefully making you wait. Would you rather have a perfect doll, or one with color inconsistancies? I'm really hoping they perfect this method, as I'd love to have a grey doll in the future.

    11. That's a little unfair. Would you rather they ship out a half-done, bodgy doll to you than try their best to create something perfect? Casting a grey doll must be incredibly difficult, with a lot of unforeseeable mishaps. We come into this hobby expecting to wait.

And besides, it's not like Soom are kicking back not doing anything about the shipping problem. They've hired more staff, and they keep their customers updated. That's fantastic service from them.

*edit* Oops, someone beat me to the reply. XD

    12. no. I would rather like them to solve this problem before making a limited gray doll.

but it's only me. if you don't care about that it's fine :)

    13. i think that they were just to greedy and took to much orders for MDs =__=;

    14. Radittz>> Well, given how it's a open for a whole order period, it's not like they can just stop allowing orders halfway. I mean, they could, but it wouldn't be fair, and there'd be far more people emoing and angsting and ranting about how unfair it was because they had promised to take order for the whole month and stuff.

As opposed to just delaying the shipping, which is an inconvenience, but you still get your doll in the end. :\

I personally don't see why a bit of a delay to produce a quality product would be such big deal, really. I'd far prefer they end up with a bit of a backlog in shipping than have the numbers of dolls available be reduced. D:

    15. I'd MUCH rather have a perfect doll, even if I have to wait.

    16. but as i remember they wrote something like "order period can be shorter" - that was one of reasons why i made my decision about buying her very fast. But even if they knew that there will be BIG problems with producing big number of dolls(esp if they don't have experiance with making dolls from grey resin) they keep reciving orders.
and you know i don't have problems with little delay - but it's another one !! From the very beginning they changed shipping date 5 times :/. When i bought my doll it was written "shipping in 35 days" - IF they ship her on 10.17 - i will get her after almost 4 times longer waiting - is that 100% ok?

    17. Remember when the earlier MDs were sold out partway through the order period? You should see the number of 'restock! It's not over yet!' pleas/rants all over their board. It's really a lose-lose situation with Soom =/

    18. At this rate they might want to just limit the number of dolls they make period. Have the monthly doll selling every month, but limit it to 50 or so instead of leaving the period open. Either that or shorten the period to a week or 2. Of course, if they do any of these things we'll have people whining about that. But no matter what some people are going to be unhappy, so SOOM needs to just put their foot down and deal with it. No more restocking even if people whine on the board about it and they should state that the order period is over early. Right now it's clear they are taking on more than they can chew and need to deal with the problem.

Though in the case of the gray skin, since they knew it was going to be trouble (colored resin usually always is) they should have limited the period at the outset. Maybe they just didn't realize how popular the doll would be and didn't think to limit it. Then they got flooded with orders and of course it's too late to do anything about it then.

    19. I'm waiting on a gray skin, and I want her to be perfect----for the money paid I think that is justified.

However, I feel that SOOM should have gotten the casting technique right for this color before offering the doll for sale.

I get the feeling that SOOM wants to be cutting edge with their dolls, but is not doing enough experimenting and research before releasing their dolls. When you do something new casting only a couple of test pieces is not enough. JMHO.
