Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Space & dolls

Jul 24, 2015

    1. We have no space for anything (dolls included). My one SD girl takes up a good amount of space, so my husband and I agreed I'd hold off getting another one. Studio apartments are tight living quarters. When we get a house, though, I will have a room for my things again. :)

    2. That is a problem, my room is small and I don't live alone and there always people visiting. So placing them on other rooms is not a option. I have a table now that I will use for them and build a room for them, but I can't get more dolls than it would be possible to stay there. At last not for now, I really want to have a room for my hobbies when I move so I hope they will have a bit more of space soon.

    3. We live in a two bedroom house, but I have a very large room in the basement. With humidity control and curtains over the only window (north facing) it makes a good place for my dolls. However I have been collecting O T dolls for many years, as well as doll furniture. So, I figure I don't have room for more dolls until I have space to set up their bedrooms and living rooms and gardens and ...
      Never enough room!

    4. A climate controlled basement for your dolls? That is the stuff of my dreams!
Considering one bedroom apartments are currently selling for $1.5 million in my city, it will only ever be a dream. :pout:

    5. ahh, I put everything in storage, only taking them out when i want to work on them. It'd be lovely to have enough space for display shelves but even then, I'd pbb put most of my collection in storage.

    6. I clicked this really hoping the thread was going to be about outer space & dolls, for some reason.

    7. I did the exact same thing! :XD:

    8. I barely have room for my actual necessities let alone more dolls so I can fully understand when people say that space is a really big issue. I still live with my mom and I don't (and never did) have a room, not even a shared room. All my stuff is packed into a linen closet, a medium-sized steamer trunk (that doubles as some nice-looking furniture), a dresser and a small cabinet shelf thing in the living room of the apartment. My doll lives in the closet, either in her box or sitting on the edge of one of the shelves in the closet. So as much as I'd love to buy one of her sisters soon there is no space for that.

@cleverLC, I thought that this was going to be about dolls in space too ^w^

    9. I rent a single room in a house with other people. So I have to have space for my sewing and my computer, as well as my bed and dresser. I have shelves which hold my fabrics and sewing supplies and all my doll supplies. One other shelf unit holds my books. I only have one shelf dedicated to my dolls, and they share it with several dozen beanie babies.

I plan to eventually dedicate the top of my dresser to just my dolls, but right now my dresser is cluttered with folded clean laundry and assorted personal items. I keep telling myelf I need to clean that off, but I never seem to get around to it.

    10. I have a craft room all to myself now, and will have a slightly smaller one when we retire and downsize in a couple of months. The problem is that the craft room is already stuffed with all my scrapbooking/art journalling stuff, so my three MSDs are currently sitting on top of a cabinet in their chairs. I worry a bit about dust and in our new flat I'd like to give them a dedicated shelf that I can make into a room setting. I also collect some other dolls, which are quite big, and they take up space as well, so yes - space is an issue. I'd fill the whole place up left to myself, but I have to hold back because I really can't cope with too much mess and clutter if the room gets really full! Having said that, I do feel lucky to have a room of my own.

    11. Oh space.. yikes.. I got 3 "floors" in a shelf full of pullips and one cleaned up for my MSDs that will come.. atm the got a couch i made and a sweet shelf where I store their shoes.. when I got more then 2 I need a second "room" or I kicked out the funrniture and let them stnd at the wall ^^
And my wishlist says that I want 2 more then I've already preorderd ^^

    12. I really like having my dolls contained-the idea of having them sitting around where they might get dusty/bumped/broken stresses me out :sweat

Up until a couple of years ago I lived in a 400sqft apartment with my husband and my BJD were all in a small converted computer armoire. We now live in an old Edwardian house with three bedrooms and a finished attic...and they're still very much contained XD Now they're just in a slightly larger built-in.

So I suppose space really isn't an issue for me because I don't like it when my BJD take up space XD

    13. For me it's not just space that's needed, but SAFE space. I have half of a room for my hobby and craft stuff where it's all protected from my dogs, cats, bright sunlight, or being knocked over. When I collected cheaper dolls that I could buy in toy or department stores I let them spread through the house. If one got pushed off a shelf or chewed on it was annoying, not heart breaking. But my resin dolls take me many months to save for, are sometimes limited edition or spend more months on layaway. So I will only let myself accumulate as many as I can fit in my safe place.
