1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Spiritdoll 1/4 Smart Mini discussion Part 2

Nov 15, 2014

Oh she is so beautiful! :whee: And the face up is great too.
But the hands ARE different. It can be seen clearly in the unboxing photos. The position of the fingers are not like mine doll`s. And the hand itself looks a little smaller. I wonder if Spiritdoll have changed the open hands.

    2. I hope they haven't changed the hands, it is one of my greatest loves of my girl, her beautiful, graceful hands.

    3. Yeah that's what I was looking at... Borrowing one of Debbie's pics, I believe her snowdrop arrived in 2014. I sure hope they haven't changed the hands because they gave no notice of that... and I haven't seen another smart doll with hands that look like that... I fell in love with the original hands. I don't think those look better than these. And those hands are definitely different.

    4. They did change the hands... ugh...

    5. That doll is actually my Sydney , I bought her off Debbie lol So showing off the same hands, its a shame they changed them. I love her elegant fingers.

    6. Yeah I remember =) Syd is so cute ( and apparently really lucky ). I just happened to already have permission to use debbies pics xD She has a lot of dolls I want/wanted and she lets me use them for ref and photoshop experimentation. <3

Ughhhh I'm just so worried that I'm not going to like her when she comes in without the old hands. Those hands were what sold m on the body because it's SO hard to find dolls in MSD size with hands that don't look like gumby made them...

    7. it looks like the same hands that are used in the image to show the difference between the bust sizes
      [IMG]

    8. The new hands, Ada? Definitely not because those are old photos. Those are the photos they used when I got my snowdrop and they're the hands that most of our dolls have. They're super not the same as these hands
      [IMG]

You can tell by the shape of the fingers of the dolls left hand. The old hand is a lot more dynamic and the fingers on the new hand have a more relaxed shape

    9. Yeah, they probably didn't bother to take updated full body pics but the pics of the hands definitely show that they changed them. I suppose people could always ask if the old hands are still a possibility. I wonder what possessed them to change them all of a sudden. I'm getting boys, anyway, so it won't matter for me, but I feel bad for you guys who've fallen in love with the older hands.

    10. Yeah I've sent them an email about it and asked if getting the old hands is a possibility. It might not be for me because my order is two months in but if they still have the molds then I'm willing to wait extra time to get the hands that I want. If they don't ever offer the option of the old hands this might be my last spiritdoll to be honest because from pics only I REALLY don't like those hands...

    11. The ones in the image look way more bent than the ones in the photo you just showed but match the sydney one.. The middle and index on both those dolls are almost at a right angle, whereas any other picture of that same hand they are only partially bent.
The hands on the bust comparison model do not match the hands in the image showing off the hand sculpts. they are completely different.
I may be confused on which is old/new so the ones in the bust image are the old ones and the ones in the hand comparison are new?

Just saw your post on tumblr. By the response to the posting of the sydney doll I was under the impression that the bent fingers were new and not old, but I see now that the hands being shown in the hand only image are the new!
I've only ever seen the new ones so I'm not too heartbroken, but It's not ok to go and change them without notice, hopefully they will let you switch to the old hands!

    12. I hope all of you can get the old hands for your girls! I actually just had to check which ones my own girl has, since I do love them (and she's boxed up so I had to look at my own photos), and I've got the old hands, which I'm glad for. Maybe, if enough people ask, they'll give options for the new or old style when you order.

    13. Yeah I think just about everyone except that one snowdrop ( and your future one ) in this thread have the old hands. It's 100% not okay to change things without letting people know. And they only changed the hands photo which isn't fair. Since I've bought the smart body twice I didn't feel the need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to check that anything had changed =/ Also no news notifications about it. Usually companies make a notification when they make something new.

    14. They replied saying they changed their hands a long time ago... That's not nice or fair. They never said they changed anything... ughhhh.............................................

    15. Hello everyone. I probably was supposed to post an introduction somewhere else, but I just joined here the other day. Been researching nonstop and have finally decided on Snowdrop, but I have some questions. I don't want to break rules or go off topic, but when you order Snowdrop, on some sites, it says the sample image is showing the doll in white skin. However if you go to the actual spirit doll site, it says the sample image is normal skin. Can someone clarify what the actual sample image of Snowdrop is? I am guessing white based off of the pictures you all have posted of your dolls, but then it's also hard to know cause how much does blushing and face up makeup affect the overall look?
Also for those of you who did do the face up from the company, were you overall pleased with the look? Match the sample or vary? I love all the custom face ups, but for my first BJD, that just seems like a grand undertaking. I don't know...I also don't want to end up with a face up I don't like either. Switching out eyes is easy too, right? In case the random ones come and I want to change them? Can you all tell I'm nervous about this?
But I have collected miniatures and 1/12 scale dolls my whole life and one day BJDs just popped into my pinterest feed. Then I found Snowdrop. And it was love. And now I'm obsessing. Ok. I'm done rambling. Thank you to anyone who can help me sort this out before I press order.

    16. Hi @Meggethann welcome to the snowdrop collective! The model in the picture is normal skin ( Spiritdoll's normal is very light ). It's super easy to change the eyes because more than likely you won't care for the eyes she comes with ( mine were 14mm and HUGE took up her whole eyewell xD She looked like an alien ). Just pop off the head back to change them, it's nbd. You'll need your own eyeputty though. I get all of my dolls blank but some of them have the default faceup. From the photos I stalked while making the decision to buy her I don't think the default faceup they come home with looks very much like the faceup on the page.

    17. Thank you for the help and the welcome @itzreeseybetch I didn't even think about default eye size not fitting right. So many things to think about!
I really am torn on the face up issue. I may need to sleep on it another night or so.

    18. It's pretty common. If a company sends you a pair of eyes that are actually the right size for your doll consider yourself lucky! Snowdrop takes 12mm but I was sent 14s. My minifees take 14mm but I was sent 16s! My Loongsoul takes 14 but they sent me 18mm eyes!!! Default eyes are a wild ride.

    19. I did it. Ahhhh...placed my very first order for a BJD Snowdrop!!!!! And now the wait begins!

    20. Congrats!! Go add yourself to the waiting list =)
