1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Stand recommendation for large doll with tail

Aug 31, 2023

    1. I just received my lovely Loongsoul TaoTie fullset and he's gorgeous but he's VERY heavy! He's 68cm and he has a huge tail in the back that pops into his bum so my saddle stands aren't working well with him; the saddle covers up the hole in his bum where the tail plugs in.

I'm looking for recommendations on a stand that will be stable and support his weight, plus let him wear his tail in the back without interference. I tried browsing around Etsy but I didn't see much that seemed like it would be sturdy enough to support his weight, plus most of the stands on there are the saddle type. I'm not really sure where else to look.

Here's a picture of his body for reference:

    2. Best recommendation I could give is the "invisible" stand at Alice's Collections. It grips around the waist, and the pole is adjustable in ways that would easily let it move out of the way of the tail. I've got one for MSD, and it's a little light for larger MSDs, so I'd recommend the 70cm stand for a heavy 68cm boy.

    3. The stand from alices collection is great when moving around tails and stuff. I also recomend having something heavy on the base (i used a bag of rocks decorated in fake flowers for my yosd dragon)

    4. Thank you for the recommendation!!

I found this stand that also has the waist clamp but I don't have any experience with this type although it looks stable. Would this one be worth trying or should I go with the Alice's collections?

    5. I can't say for sure if it would be worth trying because I'm not sure how thick your boy's tail is at the top. That one has the disadvantage of a big piece of metal hardware right below the clamp, and a narrow top where the legs come together. It may or may not fit over the top of his tail, depending on how high on his body you attached it.

    6. That's a very good point, I might have to move the clamp further up his chest but then it may not be secure because it couldn't close tightly on the wider part of his chest. Hrmmmm this is tricky, haha. Maybe I will try the Alice stand and just be sure to weigh it down on the base.

    7. I'd say there's no rule that the stand rod has to be directly behind the doll. If you put it to one side of his tail it still won't be too visible in photos and even the Alice's stand doesn't go away without photo editing.

    8. I have not used it for a doll of this size and weight, so please take it with a grain of salt. But I have a similar stand to this for my MSDs, and I absolutely love it, it keeps my dolls stable in all kinds of poses. Mine only has two legs on it, so I think a tripod would be even more stable. Since the legs are adjustable, you should be able to set it to an appropriate height and angle to dodge the tail.
I also have the AC invisible stand, and I absolutely hate it :') I can not even trust it with my Dollfie Dream. And she is so light and has an internal skeleton it really should not be difficult to keep her standing and yet it fails?? I would never use it as a primary stand for my resin BJDs unless I made some modifications to it. But why put in all those efforts when I could just buy any other stand?
I guess that it might make a good supplemental stand for supporting that beautiful tail itself while the doll is posed.
