Startled by doll sizes?

Jan 17, 2015

    1. Oh yes for sure :3 When I got my first Doll I was very surprised by the weight, Size and how Resin is like but I take it easy a bit. Now that I know, what I have to expected ;)
I was even wondering how small my little Doll is. I will get my first YoSD soon and I would guess I will be surprised by his size too XD but I like the mature look of SDs ;) So I can't resist to get at least two of this size. XD but after having them I will go for the smaller Dolls I guess. ;)

    2. I was surprised at my first bjd, an msd. I used a yard stick to see the height, but the scale was what got me. I've tried a few msd since, but feel that for me they are too big. I have one msd who is 40cm -the biggest I'll probably ever go. I'm more into 30cm or less. I feel that 30cm is the perfect size -not too tiny, and not too big. I love the sculpts in the SD range, but the size is not comfortable for me.

    3. Yes and no.

My first doll was an MSD. I had been watching box opening videos in which I heard many an owner exclaim how large these dolls were... But when mine arrived, I thought he was kind of tiny and thin and light! This was probably because my sister owned a vinyl art doll that was comparable in height but whose girth was much larger. BJDs are just so skinny!

My second doll was an SD. She was supposed to be 65 cm tall and I'd guesstimated she'd look like an adult next to my MSD, who is supposed to be 11 years old. Well, she turned out to be closer to 67 cm and she dwarfs my MSD XD. I was in shock! To this day she is my tallest doll. And she's not even wearing heel feet. And to be frank, she leads me to believe that anything taller than her is simply going to be too tall...

    4. Yes! I did the same thing, looking at a yard stick to check the height, but it still surprised me when I saw him for the first time.

    5. I don't own a SD size doll, but have seen one! I met up with someone in my local area, and was really surprised with how big the doll was.
All I can say, is that's too much resin for me to handle.
I was even extremely surprised by some of the MSD sizes myself.

I don't think I can ever go above the MSD size. I feel like MSD and smaller is what will work best for me. Besides, making everything miniature; aaaaaahhh so adorable.

    6. My first BJD was an SD, 62cm, and even though I had an approximation of how long that was, I had no idea he was going to be so big. And so heavy! He still surprises me with his sheer size, haha.

    7. I was really surprised by how "chunky" my Mini Dollfie Dream Rena is - she never looked like this in any of the images I saw before purchasing her. Still am trying to get used to it, but she just looks a little bit too much like the kind of dolls I actually don't like (the lower body, that is).
On the other hand, my MnF Shushu on the SoulDoll body is much smaller than I expected her to be - even though the bodies have the same height, the Dollfie looks like a giant compared to her.

    8. I was more than surprised at the size of my first doll. I had read the size chart and made note when I purchased her but when she showed she was huge! She kid sized DC doll and I don't think I want anything bigger.

    9. Not really, i start out with a 60cm and now have them up to 75cm, my merman is by far the longest BJD i own....But i also notice, i have nothing in between :XD: beside one mini fairy bjd and my pets bjd are all 20cm and under O.o (coming home soon) wonder how that is going to work out for me.

Course sometimes the head is a lot smaller then the body, it sort of freaky >.> with wig and clothing you can't really tell, but blank it look just odd, hopefully with a tad molding it would be fix.

    10. There's a SD (can't recall the company or sculpt but the body was "Superman" Or "Superhero" Or something like that, it's HUGELY BUFF. and My goodness how HEAVY he was, it was like tryig to pick up a small child.

    11. My first BJD was a MSD and I was very surprised! I don´t know why I thought she would be smaller XD

    12. I was a little surprised when Drayen arrived. He's MSD but I thought he'd be smaller. ^^ Then I bought Cumberbatch head and see that Drayen is very small compared to the body I will need for this head. In opposite, I was surprised at how teentsy PukiPuki dolls are.

    13. I was surprised by my first doll, AoD Chen. He's 46cm, and I figured that up to be roughly the height of my American Girl, but I was surprised by how tiny he felt! I guess because he's so much thinner than AG, and with a much smaller head, but I just didn't expect him to be so little. Honestly, I probably would have started with SD, if I had realized their actual size before I bought one.

    14. When I got my first doll, a Delf El, I had not previously seen any BJDs in person. I had taken a measuring tape and measured out how tall he would be, but it still surprised me when I got him and first took him out of his box.

The first time I saw a Hound in real life it kind of startled me, too, but that was back when that size doll was extremely rare.

    15. My first doll was SD size and next one too. :) All my dolls were above MSD, so I wasn't surprised how they were that much. And one of them was even 80 cm.

    16. My first "in person" BJD was a Dollshe Saint, way back when Dollmore still sold Dollshe. My friend ordered him and I rushed to her house to check him out. I was very surprised both at his size and weight and his anatomical correctness.:o

    17. Ohhh boy when I bought my Doll Chateau Douglass I always imagined him sort of around the 30cm height.
      Nope.
      50 cm!!!!!!!

    18. When my second MSD boy arrived I was very surprised at the difference 4cm of height can make! I feel as though he towers over my 42cm boy :XD:

    19. I'm not been surprised at the size - but at first the weight of the resin surprised me! My first doll is a DragonDoll Tiny girl - she's 25 cm - but so solid! Loved it :d By the time my EIDs arrived I was used to that weight.

    20. When I got my first one, I was surprised of how big it was. Then I started carrying them outside and yeah, they are quite heavy. Back pain any one?
