1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Storage of Clothing and Dolls Boxes?

Dec 9, 2022

    1. @TheBlueWazaga Thanks! Such a great idea! I found one that I am going to try. Reviews seemed mix but here's hoping I get a good product!

    2. I have a doll room now with a big closet and a lot of shelving so storage is not an issue anymore but before they were in a spare bedroom and I had to get creative. Dolls were on shelves but to add dimension and different heights I placed doll boxes here and there to display dolls standing or sitting on them. Plain boxes went under the bed or behind the dolls. Then all clothes and accessories were stored in shallow plastic bins made for under the bed.

    3. Best of luck!

    4. @TheBlueWazaga It worked just fine for actual mug storage (I collect a lot of things) so I am sure if I ever more than 2 floating heads, this method will work great!

    5. @aihre I totally just bought 20 of the Parkla bags to try out. I know that might be a lot but I have a lot of doll outfits hahaha! I am looking forward to using them!

    6. @jessholy LOL, I bought 4 at first to test, they worked out so well that I used them all immediately... and went back to Ikea the next day to buy another dozen more. XD I used half of those and have 6 still unused, but I've made a big clothing order so I expect they'll all be filled up soon!~

    7. I keep the majority of my doll clothes hung up on tiny hangers in their display area/bedroom now but I had them in a human dresser I was also using for my lolita accessories for a while. I use the boxes (covered in fabric and decorated with cute pillows/plushies) as furniture and the ones that don't fit are in the highest part of my closet where I can't reach easily anyway so it's not an issue....for now.
If you're struggling for storage and want to keep the doll boxes without breaking them down you can use them to store dolls clothes/props and then use the full boxes as furniture for the dolls to sit/lay on.

    8. I store clothing, accessories, and doll heads in their original bags and boxes and put them into another larger box. Doll boxes are tougher, but I store them in any cabinet or closed space that is long enough. I collapse doll boxes if I could, but most of my boxes don't.

    9. @aihre I used up all 20 Parkla bags in one go...so I am going to buy another 20 I think. I do like how I can keep a lot of the clothing flatter or matching sets together in one bag. I might add labels to tell which ones are in which because they're not as transparent as ziplock bags.

    10. Dolls: Just sit around the house. Mostly in the spare bedroom on doll furniture or the chest of drawers, though I usually have 2-3 downstairs in the den with me, sitting on the tv stand. They only get boxed for travel.

Clothing: Each doll has their own shoebox sized tub for clothes and accessories. Most of these stay in a chest of drawers, but with 19 dolls, they don't all fit, so the rest stay in the closet.

Wigs: On the dolls. Spare wigs stay in the packaging they came with, and then are stored in one huge plastic storage bin in the closet.

Boxes: on the shelves in the top of the spare bedroom closet. When I lived in an apartment without much space, under my bed worked well too.

    11. I went through a few different storage methods, and it's still a trial and error.
My favorite and the one I'm using at the moment for storing doll clothes is transparent ziplock bags. I categorize clothes (like skirts, jackets, pants, etc), and put them into separate zip bags. Then I just toss them all into a large box. It may sound like a messy way, but so far it's the easiest to manage. It doesn't take much space and I can quickly find what I'm looking for.

For shoes and wigs I'm using GLIS boxes from Ikea. They are not perfect though, because they can't fit much and are difficult to open. I'd like to replace them with something similar but twice as big in the future, if I'm able to find a suitable replacement.

    12. I keep the actual company doll boxes in the attic, the cardboard outer boxes are either recycled or stored in the garage. I have plastic storage boxes for clothes (separated by doll size), and for additional wigs and eyes. I also have a box for shoes, and a box for extras like jewellery. But I am still forever mislaying things!

    13. This thread is a life-saver :D I am moving come October, but until then I'm so out of space it's not funny! haha

    14. I store my dolls outfits and accessories (mostly SD) in plastic drawers (on wheels). It's practical, and I can easily move them whenever I need to.

    15. I just got a Our Generation wardrobe for my birthday and it is amazing for storing clothes, shoes and accessories! I was fed up of having everything in awful boxes honestly

    16. Yes! The Our Generation wardrobe is great! It really is a good quality product! Honestly all the products in that line are great. I use some of their food and props for my 1/4 scale dolls. Target had most of the entire line on sale during Christmas. I always add pieces from their collection when there is a sale!

    17. I have a veeeery big box, and a lot of hanger things but doll sized that I put on top of shelves. It's also taking up a lot of place for me, lol. I've got some boxes under my desk, to the side.
