Dollshe and the sculptor may not advertise his products on this forum. Sales may not be discussed, no news threads may be posted regarding new releases. This ban does not impact any dolls by Dollshe ordered by November 8, 2023. Any dolls ordered after November 8, 2023, regardless of the date the sculpt was released, are banned from this forum as are any dolls released under his new or future companies including but not limited to Club Coco BJD.     1. Most of my dolls are shells for pre-created characters, so of course they have backstories. My first Asian doll, Megumi, is unique in that I didn't have a character for her. When she arrived, after I did her faceup and chose her clothing, she just sort of...asserted herself. By which I mean to say, I didn't create an elaborate backstory for her or assign a pre-existing character to her. Megumi is nothing more nor less than a doll. She has her own personality (or at least one I project on her) but she hasn't got a history beyond being my first BJD.

    2. Hmmm I don't think its necessary but its certainly cool to give them a background story :) like this you have a foundation and you know what you should focus on to give and create their own personality.

    3. There's no right or wrong way to use your dolls. If you don't want a backstory then don't force one just because it seems that many folks do. While my dolls don't generally have extensive backstories, they must fit into my little universe & develop a character as it goes along. My dolls also "reveal" more about themselves the longer I have them. It's sort of like the dolls make up their own stories once they're here.

      That said, those are my SD dolls. My MSDs are just starting to get a world of their own & my tinies are so diversified that there is no story for them. They're just beautiful dolls that I play with. So personally I have both aspects, storylines & none.

    4. One doll I've had since 2007 still doesn't have much of a back story. It's always a happy discovery when he speaks up and says he likes something or doesn't like something. The last thing was some rings that he wears like bracelets. He has three outfits, one because all my dolls have something made from that fabric, and another he's worn since I bought it. By now I figure that's just him.

      What you do with them has nothing to do with how much you love them.

    5. My dolls don't have backstories, but as they hang around the house, they do seem to develop "personalities" and a story may then come from that. For example, I have a beautiful Sleeping Akando that I've had a few years and it suddenly hit me that he needs an Angel and a Demon fighting over him as he sleeps. So I'm working on my angel first, then I hope I can find a suitable demon. I'm thinking Soom for that. But up until a few days ago there was no story! So do what feels right for you, and a story may sneak up on you too! :)

    6. It is your own decision if you make a story for your doll or not. You don't have to when you don't want.
