Successfully Own Only One?

I'm slaving for one...and I'm already thinking in the back of my mind that I want a girl also...GRAH. THIS IS A PROBLEM!!!

I have only one (and actually don't have him yet, he's being shipped soon) but I think it'd be awesome to have a girl doll too.

 

I am about to successfully own one I am just waiting for it to come.

 

I think it's some kind of natural urge for us to want to provide our first doll with a friend, lover or sibling! I started off buying one, then decided she needed a friend so I got the friend who arrived before she did. Then the girl needed a brother so I got the brother, who also arrived before she did. Then I wanted to get the brother's girlfriend so I got her....

 

I never intended to get just one doll, to be honest, but i did think i would be able to keep only one for long time. But as soon as i got him, i knew i needed another one. I thought it would stop there, but now i have a list of 18 dolls planned >.> ... i know people that have for than this ok >o< lol

 

I only wanted one and thought that would be enough. Now my doll wish list has grown to about 5 and sad to say I have seen more heads that I like.

Part of my problem is I dont odd numbers *maybe* or just like pretty things,,

 

i don't even have a single doll yet, although i bought my first only a few days ago (so do you think i have slept properly since? his face isn't even painted yet and i even know what style of hat i want to buy him. and a friend of mine has been accidentaly commisioned, ratehr oddly, to make him a pair of pants). i know that i would not be able to afford another one for *at least* a year, by my reckoning, probaly much longer. i see two sides to this, which are:

x - one, i would find it easier to explore his character through his interactions with other dolls. my friend has a doll on order, it's true, so i can explore that way, but i would love him to have "friends" who live with him. also, he was not my first choice of doll - i was going to buy another, but i heard the company were having some issues. as i did not know how long i was going to have to wait for the 'issues' to be over - months? a year? double the time i have been waiting for a doll already (not since ordering - since i decided i was seriously needing of a doll)? instead, i would buy another doll in the meantime (not a "second best", one i liked as much or more, who thankfully i found) and save up again to afford the first doll at some point. in my head, i already had slight character profiles for the first doll. they're just going to have to wait for a while. on top of that, there are around 2 or 3 other dolls i love and can imagine as my own characters, and how they would interact. um, that's 5 already, and my first isn't even here yet.

x - but on the other hand, i'm terrified if i had more than one or two, i would neglect them all. as a kid i had a monthly magazine and got a new model pony every month. eventually, you have so many ponies you don't get to play with all of them. now they are all very special to me, but they aren't all getting a special ammount of attention. much as i would love my dolls, i would probably feel a little bad over "neglecting" them (i'm a stupidly emotional person - over big things, i don't get too worked up normally; "little" ones make a big impact).

anyway, i guess i wrote too much to be interesting, my apologies!

 

Of course everyone must have had just 1 doll when they got their first BJD! (apart from those that can afford to buy 2 at the same time! -_-)

So as you can see it IS POSSIBLE to own just one. XD
As for myself. I've had Lucifer since 21st December (I even remember the day he arrived! XD) and I'm just in LOVE with him! I think I could be happy being with just him for the rest of my life.

But when the oppertunity comes along and you know your mom just got a ton a cash it doesnt hurt to ask for another. LOL! Of course I had to bully her a bit but she agreed to buy me one. BJD's are just so lovely. I won't be the one to complain if someone offers to buy me another even though I'm happy with just one. ^^

 

Actually right now, Lazule is the only doll that really struck me, and he will be my first. However, I'll probably end up with at least two. I'll find another someday. (Besides, I was planning on getting an extra head-- Lazule will come with a face up from Soom, but I want to try doing face ups myself too!)

Yeah, I planned to just have one... Now I've got two and one in the post. And when the second one got here, I was convinced that she'd be my last. then my flatmate decided that he wanted one, and suddenly I was buying a third... Oopsie.

 

I have only one, and I'm VERY content with just my Jasper!!

I've had him for only a month, but I have no desire what so ever to get anymore. MAYBE in like 10 years when Jasper is way old...but I'm content with just him for now. Plus, I'm so close and attached to him that I dont want to get another and NOT be attached! So, one is GREAT with me!!

 

I had only one doll for about two years! But.... I just bought my second. Ooops!

 

Before I found DOA, I had one doll.

I was with just that one doll and one outfit for 2 plus months. Then I wanted to buy more outfits for him; then I found DOA....... and there was my second boy calling to me from the market place.

I am one of those people brainwashed by the excellent Japanese Marketing Scheme, thus I am not surprised at all that I cannot just stay with one doll.

Each of my boys have their own charm and I love them just the same.

However, I am at my saturation point, I think; so I do not think that my resin family will be growing this fast this year.

i truly believe there will only be 7 (i hope)

 

When I started I wanted only one, and that lasted almost a year. Then I saw the Soom Beryl and just had to have her. And I already have plans to buy at least two more now, so it's becoming quite an addiction.

 

just one so far though we are getting a total of 4 maybe 5. but 4 for sure!

 

Well it's nice to know I am not alone. One is just the start. I swear they hypnotise you in your sleep, they sneak in through your ears. They make you look at other dolls. I think they get lonely.

 

Must............have............more...........dolls.

 

I've had only one since February, but I really, really want another. XD; There's no way I could have just one, but the time between each purchase will definitely be a huge gap.
