1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Successfully Own Only One?

Jan 1, 2008

    1. I'm so glad I'm not the only one  I told my boyfriend this morning of my love for SDC Kurt and he told me to hold off and enjoy the ones I have before I splurge again. I know this is good sense, but I'm not sensible  And I do enjoy the ones I have, I really do love them all and enjoy playing with them...but five just is not a round number!

    2. I second this! I sometimes think to myself "Now you know it would be the sensible thing to take some time to enjoy the ones you have, get them some clothes, get to know them a little more". But it doesn't always work out that way when there are so many other beautiful ones you want someday, and soon enough someday wants to turn itself into RIGHT NOW! *_*

I thought I would only have a couple because I just couldn't spread that much love around between a bunch of them, but after I got my third one just a little while ago I realized that was certainly not the case. Turns out it isn't just some sweeping blanket love kind of thing that is supposed to spread over any and all of them, but an individual love for each one that is different from the other. So... I'll probably end up being one of those people with 10 dolls. :sweat

    3. At the moment, I only have 1 (and even it is not in my hands yet, still being shipped from the company), but she was not planned. She has nothing to do with my storyline, and was an impulse buy. Love the mold, though.

What I'm trying to say here is that I never intended to have only one. I plan to get 6 more (a total of 7) and maybe some small ones, too. I tend to get dored of things and having numerous dolls I hope will prevent me from etting tired of one of them ^_^

    4. I'm ordering mine next week, and there are only two ways I'm ordering another
      1. I want a girl for him
      2. they come out with a model that looks more masculine, all the males look so feminine, which I don't mind but it would be nice if there were some diversity.
I'm going to love my one and only though, I know it :D

    5. I can't remember if I replied to this one or not.....:|

I only have one and I'm actually glad that she's my only big girl! She's absolutely gorgeous and I never plan to sell her, but I SD size is just not right for me. She's too freakin' HUGE and takes forever to sew clothes for!*_*

The 2 I want are MSD(mini?) size but with mature bodies. And I may add 1 or 2 1/6 resins later(another 5 years or so...) not sure right now, though.:?

    6. A few months ago I posted in this thread when my first boy was on his way saying how I didn't want to own more than one....

... Here I am. With another doll head asking for a body, which I can afford, but my common sense is trying to convince me to spend the money on more useful things instead.

... And I don't think this common sense is going to last much longer. :sweat

    7. I'm actually grateful that these dolls are so expensive that I can't just decide to buy them. During the time when I'm actually saving the money my enthusiasm for a particular model might fade and I think that's a good indicator of whether I'm just overly-excited over a new doll or if there's something in the doll's character that will intrigue me for years to come. That way, if there's a truly a favorite, I think I will be content with one.
I don't have a doll yet, but I know that when I first saw Volks Super-Dollfies, if I had the money, I would have bought one right away. :D It took me half a year to get over the initial excitement created from photographs, and only afterwards did I calm down enough to research and look for other makers. For example, while I know Volks makes very good quality resin and dolls, and while I appreciate the very unique look to Volks dolls in general, I actually prefer doll heads that are less anime-ish and more realistic in terms of facial proportions. :sweat So now I have a much better idea of what kind of doll I want to get and where to get it.

    8. ... I don't even have a doll yet, but I'm already planning for more than one. He needs his woman, haha. I'm thinking I can't very well have him without her. ^^;

    9. It's a curse. You plan on only getting one or a few and BAM you have a pile of them @____@

I had one and only one for awhile. I sold him and bought the DIM Angelo head i've always wanted, which meant I needed a body. I bought one and it comes with a head.....meaning i'll need a body for that one and somehow I'll find another one to buy and so on and so on and AUGH!!! It's inescapeable.

    10. oh yeah i own that line of thoughts too.. at first.

"just one doll... can't see the point of having many..."

then i started to see this fantastic doll and that gorgoues one... that my wishlist became more than 10 dolls long before actually buying my first girl lol!
Now I own 2 BJDs and waiting for another 2... and my wishlist still left 8/9 dolls... so I didn't successfully own one at all :XD:

    11. I don't have one at all yet, just saving up - but I'm planning on 3. Maybe 4, but most likely 3. (Although I really shouldn't spend the money even on ONE - I'm cutting way back on another hobby to get her.) I'm starting with a girl most likely, because I want one to dress and because they're beautiful, and I'd like to have 2 boys. I really enjoy the photostories and shoots where the dolls interact with each other, but not when the groups are so large I can't keep track of who's who. I know myself well enough not to even fool myself that I'll only have one, and I absolutely can't decide between the girls and boys, so...

    12. I was supposed to only have one doll, a special designed head made by a friend of mine (which will be ordered soon), but when I bought him a body I got it with a free head... Which I adore so I would never want to sell him. So yes, will have two dolls now... But then I've found so many others I love too, so if I get the ones I want (whenever I'm rich)... I'll have 4 -_- (and probably wanting other dolls when I brows the doll sites and see so much prettyness)

      So no, not managing to own only one, it seems ^^;

    13. I have two full dolls, well Three, Two SDs and one MSD.
I could probably live with my boy Reznor. I love him so~

    14. I love the idea of having a doll "family". I see no reason not to get more then one- when there are so many out there with the personalities and faces that are so dynamic! I say I'll start with one- but I'm planning for at least 9 at the moment ^.^

    15. Haha! Own only one doll?!! You gotta be kidding...

    16. I originally only wanted one -w-
      my one and only Kei-kun
but then i decided he needed company
      den kids...
      den friends..
      it just escalated XD

    17. Haha. I posted here earlier.... I had one boy for a year, and then I bought him a boyfriend. The boyfriend went with my girlfriend when we split, so now I'm back down to one.... But I have a floating head waiting for a body, and a LTF Pipi in the mail, so I guess my family is growing. <3

    18. I started out only wanting one, but like many I found myself with multiple dolls and a HUGE and ever growing wishlist. I've switched between companies and types until I finally settled down. In the begining I find tastes are always changing.

Its always starts out with "I'm content with one." I grows soon after I see my girl alone!^^

    19. i don't even have my first doll yet (i'm waiting for him to be shipped) and i'm already planning more probably with a grand total of 6...it's a sickness i tell you XD

    20. Just one... right. I began with this noble intention, and was quite happy... until I got a coupon that signifigantly lowered the price of a 60 cm. So I got one, decided it was just too gosh darned big, and sold it. Which left me with enough spare cash to get a Puki, which is so little it barely even counts. But after working the Puki into my first doll's story, I had developed a whole new character who will be joining us in doll form soon. It's an addiction!
