1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Successfully Own Only One?

Jan 1, 2008

    1. I planned to get one, really I did just somehow I ended up ordering two at the same time, then I got a third and a forth and am now looking at a fifth.

It's kind of like eating cookies - I tell myself I'll just have one, then the next thing I know the whole packet is empty... just in this case it's my wallet that's empty and my house full dolls instead of an empty packet of cookies.:sweat

    2. I've settled down with two dolls, after going through 12 or 13 and losing way too much money along the way. I don't feel like buying anymore. There's too much other stuff I want to buy. ^^

I found "the one," but the second was a gift and of course I can't sell him~.
So, two it is. ^^ Came out to one SD and one MSD. I just have to finish them both up and I'll be done.

    3. i haven't quite purchased 1 yet (getting ready to purchase a kirill though), but i keep looing at the different dolls and wondering how i would ever be able to afford 2. it would be nice to have a 2nd one to keep the first one company, but still...with the style of clothing i'm thinking about...i wouldn't have much money for other things.

      time will tell i suppose.

    4. I do have a clear favourite doll and I am often tempted to sell them all and just keep one...but I don't know how long that would last!

    5. The first three are ALL exact!

    6. X_O I owned Bobby alone for all of... two months before I broke down and ordered my next doll a few days ago.

And here I was thinking "Yeah, I'll only own one doll and just spoil the snot out of her.."

      HAH.

    7. I failed at the one doll thing right off the bat. I had my Miyuki for 2 days before I ordered my next...

    8. I only have one currently, and I've had her for about a month now...

:< but now i really want to get her a friend.

      Unfortunately I was told I should save up for a new car ;~~;

I know I should, but my girl wants a playmate at home :<

    9. I also promised I not buy another for I blessed to have one I have and buys lots and lots for her...until I got reacquainted with Gena Mold. Only Had Lux for maybe...few months, not more than 4 then I buy another one X'D

    10. Yeah, I've got my doll only recently...
But I think that's enough for me. I am a loner myself. I needed the character I love and only her. I've never seen a doll who gave me "OMG want to take home" feeling and I doubt I ever will.

Yes, maybe she'll get a twin sister one day. But she will be my boyfriend's doll, not mine. I am not a big fan of Suiseiseki.

    11. I'm currently waiting for my first BJD to arrive, but it'll be more than likely he'll be the only one I'll own. There's the issue of money and expenses (even if I did manage to buy my doll some clothes after paying for it, I still need shoes, wigs, other accessories...) and the fact that I've decided to "finish" one doll before jumping on to the another. I have fashion dolls I bought on a whim while I hadn't finished customizing the previous one I had, so in the end I had two or more dolls lacking face-ups, clothes, wigs, and so forth.

So, my BJD isn't home yet but I'm thinking I'll be spending some time customizing it the way I'd like to. It's likely I'll a) be short on cash for a time because of this and/or b) be spending the little money I'll have left buying doujinshi or manga, yet another hobby of mine I can't give up, so the idea of getting another BJD looks like a very long term plan for me at the moment.

    12. I had only wanted 1 doll... some time, no solid plans or anything. I would browse for hours over a period of months with no real intention of getting one myself any time soon. Given the costs and everything it seemed to me to be a rather distant goal. Until, of course, I discussed my plans with a dear friend of mine. It was then we decided on an elaborate "background" for the future dolls we are going to get. It first started off with only a plan to get the 1 doll... That lasted for about 6 months until I decided to add someone else to the story as well. Now... we each have plans for our second doll already... >.< Realistically speaking, I am aiming for 3-5 total... Hopefully it will end there.

    13. I think I had my first doll for about a year before I started collecting more seriously. Then I had two for another year. It was last year and this year that it steadily grew to about 6-8. Instead of buying any mold that took my fancy, I concentrated on the ones that were difficult to get. My thinking was, "When will I ever find this doll again??"

    14. I thought to myself when I started.
Geez, they are expensive, I probably won't be able to afford more than 2. Which was kinda what I had planned, two mini size ones.
But it is the, oh, this is nice. Oh, that is nice... or maybe I can work this out.

The problem is tinies. They are so... almost affordable. And you need more than one to make photos fun. And then... D:

Granted, I still can't afford a lot of them. But originally I said two and no more.. I am merely more open to the idea of I can have another one.. or two.. especially when layaway is available.... D:

    15. You know, the scary thing is, I used to be really good at this. A long time ago I posted here I'm pretty much a one doll person, but all of a sudden, this year, I'm seeing dolls as far as the eye can see. X_x

    16. I only have one doll right now and even though I do plan to get a couple more dolls, especially his twin sister because I want to make girl clothes too, I think I can live with just one doll. Just me and him...hahahha, I think it's cute.

    17. I'm currently waiting on my first doll to arrive... darn FL takes so long and I didn't even thing to check DDE first (dumb me). As much as I'd like to say I'm only going to have the one doll, I know that'd be a lie. I want a MNF active-line girl who will hopefully be my next purchase, and either a BBB Sprite or Mei... I have characters for my puki and the MNF, but the BBB persona has yet to be decided on. I guarentee you however that I will not exceed 4... I might want a MSD guy too...

    18. LMAO
      Riiiiiight.
      :?

    19. I don't really see the benefit in "planing" how many dolls to have. I'd much rather go with the flow and welcome whichever dolls, end up in my home. Because, really, new dolls show up all the time. Who's to say what the future holds. ^_~*

    20. I did well for a few years not buying more than one doll; mostly because I was unaware of the large amount of companies out there i think. There are very few sculpts i liked so i was super picky. Then I discovered DoA. And the various companies. I now have my 2nd on the way lol, my 3rd, 4th, and 5th are on layaway. ( did i mention soom owns my soul?:sweat)
