Successfully Own Only One?

Jan 1, 2008

    1. well i've had only one for about a year at the most, but then i bought a boy to keep her company, and yet i feel that two is alot already.

    2. I had just one for a year.... My problem was I always wanted JUST a Cyndy, but my first doll was a Sylvie. Once I broke my rule of "just one" to purchase my Cyndy doll, it was all down-hill from there.

I really liked only having one. When you have one, like you said, just get to just spoil him or her. Having several, with different themes and styles for certain dolls, makes spoiling your fave. difficult.

    3. I never started with the idea of owning only one. But now that I have my crew, I wanna kind of narrow it down to one. We'll see how that works. o.o

    4. Yes! It's exactly the same way with me :sweat But I've struggled long and hard and decided I'm only getting one more doll (No really!). So my doll family will be one SD girl (the older sister) and two MSD boy dolls (her two younger brothers).

    5. I didn't plan to buy *any* at first. I saw them, I admired them, I told myself too expensive, then I found my first boy and there was no stopping me. Of course I said the same thing at the time: 1 doll, 1 outfit, 1 wig, no need for anything more than that . . . I have 28 dolls now. There's no end in sight. So yeah, it was frankly impossible for me to stick to the 'only one' idea--the whole notion went the way of the dinosaurs for me XD. But I actually love them all to bits, so I'm happy :)

    6. I am already starting out like Lachlana. Didn't plan to...bought one...now plotting more...though I keep saying only ONE. I just really hope I stick to under 5. Two SDs, a few tinies and maybe a MSD. I swear they have this magic power to make you fall head over heels for them and WANT more of them :D . I did put a lot of research in just like you. I started with several prospects and narrowed it down after much consideration.

    7. I don't think I ever wanted just one. I had my first girl for about six months before the next three arrived (by a strange set of circumstances I ended up with another three all at once instead of just one ^_^;;), and I would have to say that I like having multiple dolls. I like to have them interacting with each other. They look so sad when they are by themselves. It didn't help that once I created a world in which they existed, more characters appeared in my mind, and I felt the need to bring them to life in doll form.
I had only one doll this time last year, and now I have eight. I find that I go through stages where one or two dolls will grab my attention more than others, but I love them all .

    8. I have only one at the moment. I agree with you about spoiling the one you have. I would feel bad if I got another and ended up neglecting one of them [unintentionally of course] But sometimes I wonder if my only doll gets lonely.

    9. Just wasn't possible for me. I even waited till I could get two at once so they wouldn't be lonely. Since then there's been a population explosion. But I've never been able to have just one of any type of doll. They always seem to need another to interact with.

    10. So far I only have one. I do plan on getting another, but probably not until I go to japan, in about a year an a half. My doll does seem kind of "lonely" as in, I'd like to pose her with other dolls for pictures.

    11. Great, guys, I love this thread!

Now you've made me want to consider a Homme-Ducan as an older brother figure. D: Of course, I love the incest factor, though I'm not sure if that's illegal here.

I was briefly considering a pet, but I haven't found one I like.

    12. I only have one.... body.
If heads count, I already lost the battle!

I will probably get another body so I can pose them together eventually...

    13. I said to myself I could happily have only one. If I got many I think I would feel like it was too much of an indulgence and that I wouldn't be able to give them the attention they deserve.

But I think I'm leaning towards two, a boy and a girl. Then you get the best of both world! :D Haha. There is a girl who pops up in my graphic design pieces and drawings every now and then, and I would love to develop her as a doll. She's kind of a whimsical character who always has a short 1920's/bob-cut hairstyle.

I don't really have a great desire to get that many. I would rather have a couple I can spoil

    14. I only wanted one, and so far I've only got one. She's so beautiful and I love doting on her. But I do like the idea of having another one to pose with and sit with her so she doesn't look so lonely when I'm not playing with her.

On the other hand I don't know how I'd like to divide my time between two dolls, since I already feel like I don't give her enough attention.

I doubt I'll be able to stop at one, I'm already shopping around for possible heads. More because I want to have a go at painting them than anything else. I've fallen in love with some really beautiful molds while I've been looking, so I hope I can stop without getting too many more.

This hobby is ridiculously addictive though.

    15. I have just one. At first I thought to buy another one, but then decided not to. I barely have space for just one doll, and I can't even imagine making clothes for two or even more dolls as I barely can cope with my boy's wardrobe :) I'm happy having only one boy to spoil :)

    16. I have a small but growing family of BJDs. I don't have specific stories for them but I always love groups of dolls so I guess it was inevitable that I'd have more than one.

Plus I love "discovering" a new doll from another company and seeing the differences!

I think many of us "play" very differently with our BJDs so I can understand why some would choose to have just one special doll. I "play" with mine and sew for them as fashion dolls and enjoy that aspect.

    17. For a while, I only want the one doll that I have, because I'm an unemployed student and only really have enough money and time to spoil her, I doubt I could take care of another doll. Right now she sits with a bear I got for christmas the day after I got her, so he's kind of like a surrogate brother, so she isn't too lonley. Someday I'd LOVE to get another doll or two, but I think I'll have to wait quite a while before I can do that.

    18. I will only stick to 1 for now, lots of reasons, most important, is a a little girl who manages to find my hiding places and she's faster than lightning at getting to things she knows she's not supposed to. So 1 doll for now will be enough for me to keep safe ;)

But I think I would like 1 girl and 1 boy in general. I really dont think I'd have any extra heads for either doll I like to keep their personalities separate if that makes any sense at all

    19. At the moment I only REALLY want two (DM Chami and Puki Pipi) and I've just narrowed that down from 5 (though AA Ling still lingers). One doll has never been an option for me. As soon as I saw theese little buggers I knew I would be addicted.

This has proven to be extremely true thus far.

    20. I definitely want two dolls. I currently only have one. We'll see where I end up.
