1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Successfully Own Only One?

Jan 1, 2008

    1. When I first got the idea of buying one I did think, "I'll only get one, I don't think I could afford to spend on more than that." Then I started looking at names for her and I thought..... well..... maybe I could get 2, that way she's got a boyfriend, so I need to make sure their names fit together. lol hopefully I'll be able to stop at 2

    2. I have one right now with no specific plans for another. I love that I can spoil him; I don't change his wig and eyes too often as I like him with a certain look best but it's nice to be able to buy clothes for him and not worry about buying stuff for another. He's currently waiting for a 1:3 scale guitar too. For me, I have limited funds and am also busy paying off school loans so it would be really difficult to have more than two....these dolls take work to get them to look the way you want. I admire those with big families whose every doll looks flawless; I know how hard it is and how much money it takes!

    3. Well, I currently have one boy, and have had him for around 6 months.

      ...
      Unfortunately- I have no plans on keeping my family limited to one... I did at first just because I thought that spoiling would be nice, but then again wouldnt having a big family be nice too? ^^;
      Good luck to anyone out there planning on only having one, it's far more challenging then I first thought!

    4. I really only want one for now, because they're so expensive, I just cannot afford more than one plus all of her clothes and makeup, haha. Maybe later I will get her a boyfriend. :D

    5. I still have one. I'm sooooo picky!
      I do intend to break from having a single doll and getting a Pukifee though especially since I purchased a pair of eyes recently.

    6. I thought I was just fine with my girl Anemone that my hubby bought me for my birthday this year.
      Then I thought I wanted her to have a friend and thought of a cute little demon boy and just ordered a Pukifee Shiwoo the other day, haha.

      Now I'm considering a Pipos Dali or PukiPuki Pukisha set to turn into an anthro rabbit character I have @___@

      I think after the rabbit, I should be fine with not needing anymore. I just wanted a fashionable girl, a mischievous trickster, and my outdoorsy adventurous rabbit character xD

      At least I hope that's all I want @____@;

    7. I never had the thought that I would only get one. After I found out about BJD's, I knew I wanted a collection. Maybe not a huge collection, but a collection nonetheless.

    8. Initially, I had only wanted to get one. I had seen a Crobidoll Nao B and completely fell smitten with the doll. Then I happened to stumble upon the Ringdoll site and saw their fullets...Then Souldoll...Custom house.

      The thought of getting only one seems impossible now, and I already have a DoC Twinset on hold for christmas. ;;

    9. For me its hard to say, "Hes my first and last doll"
      When your favorite company comes up with a new arrival its tempting not to want it...So I personally cant say this doll is going to be my only one. Also when creating a character, he could have family, enemies ect. its hard not to find him a companion or friend in the end..Though if you do manage to have just one as your first and last congrats! D;

    10. I want just one, and it's taking me a LONG time to pick her out. I have two real little boys already, so I don't need more children! What I'm looking for is a medium-sized, realistic female doll to make extravagant clothing for. She has to have an interesting face. She would be 20 dolls in one. I would constantly change her eyes, wigs, shoes, clothing and jewelry. I have a family, so I can't spend tons of money on my dolls. I would consider buying another doll (or maybe just a second head) if she could share all the things I already own. I say this after buying way too many 16" fashion dolls. There's only so much you can do with them and no matter how great the outfit, there is always that stupid stand in the way.

    11. I still haven't purchased my first doll, but after I successfully save up enough for her, there are four others on my wishlist. I'm guessing, though, that I'll have only one for a long time before I actually get the money to purchase another. But as I've been waiting, more characters have been developing in my mind and I don't know if I'll be able to hold back with just one.

    12. I only just got my first doll and I'm already saving up for a second. She came with a free event head so he'll naturally need a body. :3 It's going to take me a few months to save up though but I'm happy to spoil just Annabelle until I can get her a friend.
      When I do get a second doll I think I'll be happy with just the two for at least a while. I don't think I'll end up with a huge collection but I'd still like a few.

    13. I had my first doll Miya (DZ Shouyo) for about a year before I got the urge to buy a new doll. On a note, my second doll was the Shouyo 3 Limited that I wanted to use for a character. Then I bought the next twoshortly afterwards for the same reason lol.

    14. I have only one doll at the moment and I think two is probably my limit. The only other doll I'm thinking of getting is a Puki, and that might not even happen considering my current financial situation :/

    15. I have one right now, (A dollzone Mo) but have ordered an other (a Resinsoul Mei) shes incoming
      I got her because I wnat one boy and one girl... and maybe a hoofed (if they ever do MSD)
      so I failed
      opps XD

    16. I only have one right now, but lets just say that won't for very long. I'll be getting another one as soon as I have all the funds.
      I was just bound to fail sooner or later :sweat

    17. I never specifically started off with the rule of "1 and only 1", but I've had just the 1 girl for a year now. It has been hard though, as I did keep looking longingly at other dolls*, and now I have a small 15cm doll on order under the justification "if's for a specific project".

      * And now I realise that this makes it sound like I'm cheating :P

    18. I found out about the excistence of BJD's when I was only just 11 or 12 years old. Of course, they were way too expensive back
      then for me. Last year, when I found out about Jun Planning, Isaid I was only going to have one doll. That's when I bought my first
      Jun Planning doll. It's a Taeyang Jade and I really love him. Then I came across a Dal which is really cute, a customized Kanaria.
      So then I had two.
      And then I found a BJD for sale, the head arrived last Tuesday. But I already know for a long time that I want more. Way more.
      So for me, only one doll isn't an option. xD

    19. I only have one doll and that's all I ever plan on having! I've had Lyle for quite some time now and haven't gotten bored of him, so I can't see myself wanting another one anytime soon. If Obitsu released more of a variety in boy bodies... well, that's a different story, haha! Until they do though, Lyle is all I need! :aheartbea

      EDIT: I now have TWO dolls - one vinyl, one resin. I feel so guilty reading this old post!! :sweat

    20. At first, I told myself to get only one doll because BJD's so expensive and I would like to spoiled my doll.............. few months later (a) friend(s) who can share clothes and wigs would be GREAT!!!
