1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Successfully Own Only One?

Jan 1, 2008

    1. XD Nope.

I decided a little over a year ago, that if I could just have one I'd be happy. I got a Felix Brownie not long after that.
I didn't hold off for long >.< I've got my second on layaway already. LOL Dolls are like potato chips, you can never have just one.

    2. I already failed right at the beginning. I have yet to own a doll but already planned up to my FORTH. My first two boys should arrive by this year end. Did you say "One is Enough?" Erm, It's impossible for me.

    3. When I ordered my first doll Mooble, I said ONE. A few months later, I have three, with plans to buy two more this week :P SO I have failed miserably, but I am not objecting ^_^ I love my dollies :D

    4. I bought one and I thought, hey, she needs company or she'll get lonely. I started looking at different doll sites looking for the perfect doll companion -suddenly, I have 4 more on the list.

    5. This is an interesting topic! Coming from a background of collecting Blythe dolls, I totally understand the addictive nature of dolls. Unfortunately I went a bit mad with Blythe and at one point owned about 20 of them. I stood back one day and couldn't pick one doll that I really liked. I didn't buy clothes and fun stuff as which doll was going to get it?
When I fell in love with BJDs, I thought about just having the one also to (as you put it) spoil with special clothes, wigs etc. I currently have 4 BJD but I don't think I'll adopt another unless I sell one. BJDs are more expensive and harder to get hold of than Blythe so I probably won't end up with too many more than what I have. I do enjoy just having a handful of dolls to buy nice things for now.
I guess my point is, I think it's great if you can keep to just one doll :) I would have loved to have done that but alas there are too many gorgeous dolls out there so I failed!

    6. I don't think i can just stop at one. I started with two dolls when i was collecting MCD's (Not BJD RELATED) I currently have 32 of them right now i have one Dollfie but what i really want are Doll Family dolls and i have one on layaway. I would like to have a complete family you know mom pop etc etc. ^_^

    7. Hehe I don't even have a doll yet, and I already dream of my own special room full of them! XD

When I first found BJDs, I was so overwhelmed by the varieties and sculpts of the dolls.... And I fell in love with more than I can count! Right now I'm saving up for a DOC T Too and Bee-a because I want a couple right off the bat :) but then sometimes, when I'm looking through the many doll sites for clothes and accessories for them, I see this particular object that gives me these thoughts of having a love triangle...... then the thoughts go to "But then i want a happy ending so I have to get another one to pair it with" and so on... hm... BJDs are expensive hobbies X3

    8. Uhhh. They multiply like rabbits.

It all started with "oooh! I want him!" with Kaiden (MNF Shiwoo) back in 2006.
Then he wanted a friend, his big brother, and his big brother wanted his friends.

I'm up to 11 with another on the way!

    9. What a cute discussion point! I'd love to find out how many the people at the beginning of this thread now own.

I never planned on one and I could never have just one. Besides you have to have two of something to be a collector!!!

    10. I haven't actually ordered mine yet (soon though), but I only plan on having ONE! I currently have 2 momoko's (i know they arent related) and I am kinda regretting having more then one. I think i'd feel the same way if i have 2 bjd's. id have to sell one to make myself feel better LOL

    11. I am still going strong with successfully owning only one. I think that is my reason for spending so much money on him. ^ ^

    12. I even have not received my first one yet! My ultimate goal is to stop at 4. I agree that getting outfits, shoes, wigs etc. are a priority with each BJD I adopt. Having said that, time will tell.

    13. Yeeeaaah....I had only ONE, but now I'm searching for another...I'll probably only get 2 though and then spoil them with stuff!

    14. My first one hasn't even come yet and I already know I'm going to buy more when I can afford it.

    15. Ahahahhaaahaaaaa!! Within 4 months I went from the "Only One I would Ever be interested in" , to having 3 at home, in addition I now also own a floating head, and am eyeballing Doll girl number 4.

I am soooo broke it's not even funny but gazing at my gorgeous girls makes me happy :)
      No regrets.............. yet! ;)

    16. I don't see a point in owning more than, say, five. Any more than that and I think most would just collect dust. I only have one girl right now, and no more because dolls are expensive, but even with 5, I would have epic photoshoots and what not. After 5, I assume a person like myself would start picking favorites and I wouldn't want to do that. If you have enough time and dollie love on your hands, more than five is perfectly ok, but if you are like me, and with school, work, and a montage of other crap, you wouldn't have time to do anything with a bunch of dolls. I guess thats ok if you collect but don't take photos or anything, but it wouldn't be my choice to spend so much and let them sit there.

    17. Yes, one and only)) And no plans dor the others - it`s been four years before Ive found the sculpt that I really liked, so I guess the chances he stays alone are pretty high :D

    18. I first thought I would own one doll and it would be a girl. But as I looked around at different dolls, I fell in love with a male doll that was discontinued at the time. As soon as I heard about the doll company offering him for sale again, I quickly jumped at the chance. The search for a girl still continues.

    19. I have one purchased right now but for some reason, this hobby makes it REALLY difficult to just buy one. XD I was in the same boat as you. I thought I'd only want one doll and that'd leave me satisfy. Until I saw Crobidoll's Yeon-ho... then Bobobie's Ariel... and then Dream of Doll's Homme Ducan... and another one. o.o So it's VERY hard to not just want one unless you're REALLY satisfied with the one you have and don't go doll shopping anymore. But it's hard to when you're looking at wigs and eyes and such. XD; But I'm seriously thinking over every doll I want and if I seriously do want them. After doing TONS of research, I had a few taken off the list. And now I have only 2 more I know I definitaley want. But yeah... it's hard. XD;

    20. Nope. I've already got two coming home, and I want three more for Christmas, and hopefully more after that, but we'll see xD
