Successfully Own Only One?

I never even had the intention of owning just one, there are so many pretty ones. And now that I've started a new book (which was started by a character for a BJD that just jumped into my head, who then, after subsequent talks with my boyfriend, developed an elaborate backstory. woo!) I have a feeling if I ever get money I'll end up with a slew. But I'll probably only have one for a while. I'm a broke college kid. T-T

 

Right now I only have one and I love him to bits...I would like to get him a pet and eventually a girlfriend this way I can have a boy and a girl but after that I don't think I'll buy anymore as I'm already having a hard time deciding which girl I will get...so for me I don't think I can only own one

 

I just recieved my first (Unoa Sist ) and my mum has been asking me, "So are you going to get her a boyfriend?"

Not gonna tell her that she's a lesbian.

I never planned to have only one doll. But I also know that the number I have will be restricted by my funds, and by space. Also, by characters.

I don't see my doll as a individual, but as a cute and beautiful piece of art. And so I don't mind to idea of having a varied collection of these beautiful pieces of creativity.

 

I only have one doll.. was thinking of getting another but it didnt feel right.. and i have no need for a second doll..
as you say id rather spend money on the one that i have..

 

I have successfully owned only one doll (Dollzone Xi) for 8 months, and I was actually happy and really content with just one doll to spoil rotton. In that time, I've gone for quite a few meets, and seen other bjds in person, but was never compelled to get any more.

I've since rehomed my Xi, and due to a change in personal preference and direction in the hobby, I now have 6 dolls at home with me, and am happy with this number too.

But I'm planning for three more! XD
I'm pretty sure I'll stop at four. That seems a comfortable size group for me.

 

I may be echoing many others here, but that's exactly how I started ; I'll just have one and spoil him to death, I won't have enough means to keep more than one. one is enough.

...oh boy was I soooo wrong!!!

I now have total of 5 dolls, planning at least 2 more. -_- They multiply...

 

I never thought I'd have even one, and with my darling Pixie girl coming this week I am hoping to stay with one. She doesn't have a story or a name yet, as she was a total surprise (my very sensible self wouldn't have allowed me to buy a doll that is worth half the new countertop I need for my kitchen), luckily my husband isn't nearly as sensible and knows my whimsical side needs to be indulged. I know when she comes her personality will become apparent.

I "collect" porcelain dolls and have a Samantha and a vintage Betsy McCall doll, and I am uber picky about the dolls I have thus far, so that my "collection" is special not common. I am not considering my BJD as part of this collection, but in the same way I'll be picky about her stuff and if she ever gets a friend.

Luckily, my sister in law and some of her friends have dolls to so group photo shoots are still in my future ^_~ . We'll see how I manage, especially after the major house projects (We just bought our first home) I need to do get paid for....

 

I only ever wanted a Yder but Then they let out the Lu wen limited and said after limiteds were sold out they would stay that way. so I freaked and Got my Lu wen. but what I really want still is my Yder. So I'm saving for him next

 

I'm glad I'm very picky with dolls too XD I SAID I'd only get one for a little while and then just gave up and decided 3 would be good... I really hope I don't get the "But I just GOT to have this one more" syndrome. Plus these dolls are expensive and it's taking me forever to save XP. But I think my kiddy would be lonely, so it'll probably be 3... But yeah, my dolly purchases will be very spread out, so hopefully they will all get equally spoiled to death ^^

THREE! I must keep telling myself that

 

Like all the others, I was certain it was just going to be one - my Sooah. But getting on DOA and seeing all the different sculpts was the death of me. 18 or so dolls later (cough, cough) ...

i would like to go back to owning one doll, but the others wont let me, my dolls have me in an evil grip on me and they're making me buy stuff and make clothes for them :p

 

When I first came into the hobby, I only wanted one. Of course, I ended up settling on one and we really haven't bonded at all. I don't know what I'm going to do with him. My second just arrived a week ago and while I'm loving him, I know he's not my dream one. Sooo. I've narrowed my two dream dolls down to my two favorite characters in books I've read. I think after I get them, I may sell my other two and then just have the two characters to spoil and love equally.

 

I did, but there's only so much you can do with one doll. It does get boring, especially when you have just one boy doll. That's the problem I had.

 

I pretty much jumped into the hobby knowing I would at least want two, so I was pretty much up the creek without a paddle to begin with. xD When I first started learning about dolls I talked just a little with other owners and all of them told me the same thing-You'll get addicted! Watch your money while you still can!

They were right. xD Lucky for me I'm very selective about who I want to adopt and add to my family, and the number had quickly changed to wanting four total. A couple months after, the number has pretty much solidified to five, and even now that fifth doll is not a must have like the others are.

I think I'm safe for now. x3

 

At the moment I only have one doll and I'm very comfortable with having only him with me. But even so, I've been seriously thinking about getting a second one. Why? Because I fear he'll get lonely when I'm at school or just otherwise not around. Well.. more than getting another one for myself, I'm hoping someone from my circle of friends that live close to me would get at least one for themselves. My roommate is really interested in my boy and she's the one who has been trying to get me into buying that other doll too, so.. maybe I'll get her to buy it instead?

But but. Like I said, I'm comfortable with it being just the two of us. I don't treat him as a doll, so getting bored of him isn't really all that likely - he's my little companion, so spending time with him is something I greatly enjoy! aaalso, having only one doll is easier for a poor poor student like me. buying clothes and junk for two different sized dolls? oh, don't think so.

 

Hmm. For me, I don't see a point in trying to stick to one. So long as I have the means and enjoy the hobby, and of course so long as I don't go crazy and spend the rent money on dolls (lol) then I see no reason to limit myself. I don't intend to get more than 5 or so but that could very well change. *shrug* I may not have much money now, but I'm sure in the future things will settle out (I'm about to graduate college, get married, move, and get a full time job) and then what happens, happens.

 

Nao's plenty for me. I have, since Christmas made him the following...

A hat (what are we up to now... six?)
Blue jeans
Two shirts
Khaki capris (sp?)

And am in the process of a better fitting kimono.

I also did two photoshoots with him for two different photostories (blast not being able to upload yet!)

I have fallen in love with Volks Ayumu, but know that I'll never get the chance to own one.

 

At first, I also wanted one to "spoil". Then I wanted a second one...

And now I have 2 dolls coming home soon (a SD and a petdoll), and I have at least 3 more planned to come. And after them, there might come more.

I have so many styles in mind that my dolls could wear, but I don't want one doll wearing multiple styles. So that's why I am planning an army.

Oh, and I am going to spoil all of them anyways. I sew my own clothes, so I'll be happily sewing stuff for them as well.

 

I have only one doll now, but I am planning to get more ^^
