1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Successfully Own Only One?

Jan 1, 2008

    1. I thought all I needed was my sweet little Anemone which was a birthday present from husband.

Then I felt she was rather lonely being the only bjd in my 3-doll collection.
Then I saw Pukifee Shiwoo and for the life of me couldn't get the little bugger off my mind so I had to get him.
Then I saw Bobobie Elfkin and for the life of me couldn't get her off my mind so I had to get her.
Then I saw a tan 5Stardoll TongTong and for the life of me couldn't get him off my mind and husband got him for me for Christmas.
Then I saw ResinSoul Long and felt he was the perfect doll to portray a character of mine. So I had to get him.

Then I stumbled across the doll again that got me into this whole hobby: Homme Ducan.
I still feel the same way about him (actually probably even more) that I did the first time I saw him.
I realized why I liked him so much: His facial expression and appearance matched perfectly to a very special OC of mine.
So I'm working on getting him.

And then I found the perfect female doll that looked like my special OC's love that also looked great with Homme Ducan.
Peak's Woods Goldie. Now I have to get her after Homme Ducan.

I hope I'm done after these last 2 LOL
      They're like...cookies...or ferrets...or pringles.
      You can't have just one.

    2. Same beginning, exactly.
"I need only one. I'll be spoiling him rotten, because he will the only one"
      Next stage:
"Oooh, he looks so lonely all by himself. He needs a companion !"
      Next stage:
"Well, they don't seem to get along very well. I guess they both need other companions"
      And so on...

    3. The road to owning my first doll was pretty rough and I told myself that when I got him, he'd be all I'd need.
But you see, these dolls truly are insanely addicting LOL. It's almost impossible to successfully only own one. He's an MSD, and after getting him, I thought I might want an SD.. Or a tiny... >w>; Sooo now I've got plans to buy an SD, then a tiny... Then I'll be done.
      ......Hopefully. <3;;

    4. Yeah, that's what I thought at the beginning: only ONE, as they're customizable, it's easy to change the style etc, it's as if I had several, etc etc....
BUT then she looked so lonely, and with TWO, there are more possibilities, they can interract....
AND I'm looking forward to my birthday in a couple of months to be able to wish for a THIRD one... There's no escape from resin, I say!!!!

    5. :lol:Haha:lol: I do hawe 7 kids in RL. I don't think it will be just one BJD for me. When i like something I just can't stop.;)

    6. Aha!! Me too! I juggled the idea of only getting one, but then he looked so good with the other ones I wanted, I just didn't want to say no.

Edit: I still don't want to say no, but I seem to have lost interest in other dolls outside of that one. I suppose I'll come back in a few years and tell you guys how that went - wanting and then having ONLY one.

    7. I never planned on 'only one'. The thought never crossed my mind XD In fact the only thing I have issues with is allowing one doll a YEAR. I know I'm in trouble... Before my very first doll even showed up, I had already bought another one. The funny thing is I wasn't even in love with the second doll. My dolls persona, Dorian, is the one who wanted him, and, of course, Dorian gets what he wants. Plus it was on sale :D If I be good I wont buy another till next christams... I really cant afford another one any time sooner.

    8. I meant to only get one I promise! I decided I was only interested in SD size and I fell in love with Dollzone Celine about 5 years ago but as funds were tight I bought AOD Sara. I had a hard time getting her as the first order I made with an authorised dealer at the time tried keeping the money but not sending the doll. Eventually I tracked them down and threatened legal action and I got my money back after several months. I then placed the order direct with AOD that time. I felt anxious about doing her faceup so after about 12 months I decided to buy a small and large Obitsu to practise on. I did Sara's faceup but then I ended up buying AOD Zi Yuan about 12 months after that. I got distracted with my porcelain doll collection for a while and then I ended up saving and bought Dollzone Feilian the middle of last year as the Aussie dollar was doing good. Everything just blew out from there and now I'm up to 37 dolls either at home or on order. I have finally ordered Celine though

    9. I think i might have said that I just wanted Mischief...but I love having them all so much! they look so different. that being said, in the almost six years I've been in the hobby, I've only purchased three dolls. and my list of NEED is much shorter than more. there are four more on my list. I think, as long as I don't feel overwhelmed, that I'll be alright. I'm content with getting them as I get them, and making their clothing, taking pictures and carting them around. I do think that with 25 dolls, it would be overwhelming. I make all my own clothes, do my own faceups.... for three dolls, heck, even ten dolls, that's do able. I won't limit myself but I don't think I'd ever be an owner of a very high number of dolls. Probably fifteen at the most, for me. I'm also picky, so that might be it. XD

    10. I planned on only having one. I don't even have him in my hands, yet, and I'm already wondering if I should get a girl doll as well just to make dresses instead of boy clothes! Or maybe I'll make my boy cross-dress..... x_x

    11. Well, for now it's one, but i was always thinking of owning a pair, so one more to come as soon I can afford it x) but no more then that, I too see no point in having dozens of dolls which are unfinished etc... I'd rather finish those I have and play-play-play with them^^

    12. I have only one. want more... but there no way i can aford another one...ever so i can only have one to....its alittle forsed but still successfull haha!

    13. When I ordered my first doll, I was absolutely sure she'd be the only one. My 14th doll arrived today. Each one has their own 'personality', and I love every one of them.

    14. Weeeellll....I did think I would only have one...at first...but since I've been hanging around all the dolly-enablers here I've seen two-three-fifteen more I want....so the "just one" resolution is fading fast....

    15. I have 'only' had my Atropia, for two years. I got another and sold it, didn't connect with it. There is a Dollpire i want but will probably be another year or so before I get it, if I get it.

    16. Well, at the moment, I can only have one. (My DOD Bee-A who I love to bits :D) because my parents are all "don't you dare get another doll".
Although, when I'm independent (earning my own money and all that) who knows? ;D
Although at the moment, she might be my only bigger sized doll because I'm really loving all the anthro tinies. Might get a tiny army in the future ><

    17. I'm kind of going the other way, now. I initially started with two, sold them and got one, then got another, sold her, got another again, sold her, now I'm getting another girl, and considering selling off the girl I've had for the past year. *_*

Getting in to the hobby, I never considered having one, but I really think I'm better off getting a single doll that I really adore. I love the hobby and the people I've met through it, but I'm happier the smaller my collection!

    18. I may only ever own one. It really depends on how much I like the BJDs compared to other dolls, like Tonner dolls. They involve a bit more dedication, and I am terrified of trying to restring a doll! Haha. We'll see...

    19. Ahaha, I got into this knowing I wouldn't just have one, and though I haven't accomplished my goal of obtaining another (yet! this year!), I always knew there'd be a bigger family. Sakiyo is from a larger story, for one... and then there's the fact that I'm getting a few characters of mine from another story. And then there's a bunch of others I like but just don't know what to do with yet, and so on and so forth...

    20. One?! I couldn't have just one, they would get lonely.
