Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Successfully Own Only One?

Jan 1, 2008

    1. I've successfully owned just one for about a year and a bit now. It's mainly because it took me forever to quit being scared of his price tag and actaully bond with him that I didnt want anymore. I now have 3 more and a head on the way :)

    2. For 4 years I had only one.....I looked at other dolls and thought I would love to have that one and I had one I wanted to be a friend for Anathema....and that was pretty much it...I was only really interested in buying maybe one more, but I was content with my one....There's a lot of ones I'd like to have, but I really don't know what I'd do with a little doll army....I'm happy with one, but I've got a second ordered and we'll go from there I guess. If it works out I may truely be a multi doll type of girl and THEN there will be trouble!

    3. I would love having my doll, and I think one is enough.. But I don't know if it is going to work out succesfully ;)

    4. I have only one, but will certainly be buying more. For me, it's about fashion design. One doll inspires me in a certain ways, a different doll would create a whole new set of inspirations.

    5. I've always wanted more than one. I think because my first encounter with dolls was at an enourmous doll panel at Otakon. So, I naturally grew to ideal of more than one BJD.

    6. Like some have said, I've had only one for about two years now. That will soon change, but in my own defense, I resisted a long time!

    7. I think I will be content with just two for a while (one boy and one girl) to dink around with.

    8. I don't know if I planned to have only one. I reaaally wanted an El for the longest time (actually about a year) before I got one. However I waited a good 6 months between actually learning more and reading up about the hobby before getting my first doll, AOD Wang Zi. I saw his promotional pictures and thought he was really beautiful, and at a pretty decent price considering most other prices in the hobby. There was a bit of drama in getting him, but I wasn't disappointed at all.

I had Storm for about five or six months before Sollien (my El XD; ) arrived. During that time I really enjoyed just having Storm, but I also found myself wishing that I had another doll for him to interact with. Now he does~ Though by this time, I had Sollien planned out, and I want another doll (a tiny).

I hope I don't end up with 12 dolls, but there are a lot of molds that I really do like, so I guess we'll see how I end up in the future :sweat I just know I won't be getting any more for a looooooooooooong time, because I'm graduating this semester, and need like, a really job @.@ No monies for dolls.

    9. I have just one successfully for about a month so far so I guess I'm not quite in the safe range yet. xD;

    10. Edit for amendment: No, I don't think I could stick to only having one BJD anymore. I've been working more lately, so I have more money to spend, and that leads to being able to buy more BJDs than before. I could easily see myself owning 4 or more in the future. *__*

    11. I only owned my one girl for almost a year but then I got a job and had more disposable income and I bought more dolls. Now I have an even better full time job but I'm trying not to get anymore since 6 seems like enough. I don't feel like I would want just one doll though as I like having my dolls interact with each other and creating scenes with multiple dolls.

    12. I really thought that with my first purchase, a couple of years ago, I would have enough. But then I saw another one and another one. So far, I have four complete, two heads and one on layaway. I want to say now that I think once I have bodies to go with the two heads and once my layaway boy is home, the only other doll I really want either a Limwha or Supia, I will be done. However, I have to agree, each doll brings it's own personal style, so when is it enough? I'm really enjoying my expensive hobby and I couldn't be happier extending my family of dolls.

    13. I always planned to get 2, for, as you say, a couple, but then I saw Leekeworld's Peanut, and then I was all "Well... he COULD have a younger brother..."

So no, not really successful, either for only having one or for staying what I had planned to do. Drat.

Only not really cause I bet I love them ;)

    14. I'd be alright with one, but Tripoli is quite.. Gregarious ;) nah, i'm sure i'll get some more. I have a list and I know what I'd call them. I only have £100 to my name atm, but eh... :sweat

    15. i think i'd only own 1. XD and i dun plan on owning more than that.

it took me 6 years to actually buy 1 XD im VERY picky. *imagine, 6 years? to actually found and buy a bjd that u REALLYYY like. so yeah..

i think 1 is enough. it'd be hard enough to take care 1 doll, and i simply dun have time for 2 or more. XD

*plus, maybe, i'd take me another 6 years to find another doll that i realllyyyy like XD

      hahahaha XD

    16. I can't possibly have more then one. Thats just too much money. Im even thinking of downsizing my SD to an MSD.

    17. And I suspect I lied....While shopping around for some clothes for my new boy, I discovered I REALLY want a DZ Shoyo.....Guess I'm saving for a third doll now >___<

    18. I guess the question has any one owned ONE doll only for more than 6 months would be a good one. I have noticed that many times people that only love one doll have only had the doll a little while or still waiting for it to arrive.

What happens is you get your loved doll and your happy and then a little space opens up in your heart or mind much like when you think you will only have one child LOL (not that I have any but its something I have noticed hee hee). Then another doll calls to you very strongly !! and you start thinking about that doll and before you know it you have two dolls and so forth :)

Not that its impossible!! I know there are a few long time members here who do only have one doll ;) and its the same one doll (not bought and sold swaping dolls)

Oh and somethings you think you found THE doll and then you see THE doll months later and it turns out you didn't bond with your doll as much as you thought you did. So you end up selling your doll and getting the new one or keeping your doll and getting another.

    19. I thought I might be okay with one. I first got a Volks msd. It lasted for a while, but I became hooked and needed another. So...drat...the one thing did not work for me. I became fascinated with seeing different kinds. Still... I think it is pretty good that I have stuck with only three for quite some time now.
      :)

    20. I never even considered having only one. And it seems now that I have over half a dozen I am enjoying them even more. I would love to see if there's one person that has been involved with BJD's for over2 years and only have one doll, without finaces mattering and be completly happy!
