Successfully Own Only One?

Yes someone who is not not buying due to short on finances, has the same doll and also comes here frequently right ! temptation for sure! and not swapping out the doll

thinks... I know there is someone who has a sexy boy and has had that one boy for a long time, does regular photo shoots ....tries to remember the name of him.

I'm not sure I'll be happy to own dozen of dolls. I used to love few things... too many are dispersive for my love. Still, I would like to try to have another doll, at least, of another size. maybe I'll discover it's not what I'm looking for, but I'd like to try.

 

I have only one doll, though I want a few more. I want to design certain "image characters" (if you will). I want a gyaru/ganguro (I know it's outdated)/manba style girl (Supia Minisup Tanned Yan), a cyberpop style girl (Peak's Woods SKY), an Edward Cullen (Delf SHINE)...
I'm really into these fashions, and vampires as well. ^_^ I want more distinct members of my dollie family!

 

When I was first introduced to them and got my first doll, the excitement of the first doll began to wear off and I wanted to buy at least three or four different dolls immediately afterward. I managed to fight the urge, and I'd say it's probably most dangerous after the six-month mark, but a year's gone by and I successfully own only one doll....well, plus a floating head, for practice before working on my one doll. I'm not really planning on getting any more, except maybe a pipos curo because they're very rare and completely different from my SD. That, or unless there's one of those very special, unique dolls (I was so sad I couldn't get a SD13 Williams) I might reconsider. But for now, just the one doll, as of 2.5 years...

 

Treelore--this is so very true and insightful. Generally we all started out with one doll and then that "little space opens in your heart".

 

Wow... haha, having only one doll hasn't even crossed my mind yet. The first time I was introduced to this hobby (WAY before I was actively thinking about even buying them seriously) I wanted tons of them. I dreamed of owning a whole room/gallery full of dolls. Now that the prices are actually real to me, and now that I'm actually buying them, I've limited myself to about 20 or so for now... (whenever I get enough money for that... XP) and when I actually have a secure job and stuff in the future I plan on buying more and realizing my dream of a gallery of dolls. I've also gotten interested in actually making them myself... so I'll have even more!

Yes a little space opened in my heart 13 times and I love each one, I treat each one like she is a birthday girl. I don't find having more than one makes them any less loved. I get a chance to see the uniqueness of each compared to the other.

 

Personally I only ever plan on owning two. I've had my first one about a month and its already taking a lot of thought working out when I can afford to buy things for him..
I have a second one that I want to get, but as I've had these two boys planned out for literally years and have never thought of any others that I'd want as much I think I should be able to stick at two, we'll see huh?
Just because I'm not planning it doesnt mean the addiction wont get me as well from the way I see things...

but i can totally live without them xD

I only have one doll and plan on keeping just one. Then I can just spoil him rotten X3

 

I think that they are like potato chips, you can't have just one. I got one and before I got it, I ordered a second one. Now I'm thinking of a third.

I'm planning on getting one as soon as I get motivated enough to do my tax returns, I want to buy a DOD/DOI Luke.

I don't really want to get any others, but at the same time...I would love to create a second one for one of my other characters. >w>;;; The first one is going to be my red-headed baby Damon, the other will be either Tobin or Caden if I ever do get a second.

I think it is possible. I would like to have "the perfect couple". I think that would be better for me. However, sometimes I think that I would like to have a little girl. so, that would be three. Then, when I ask myself if I need more than one the answer is no... So, I think I will try to have one or two but no more. Not because I can't have more. It's because there are other things that I want to have like a gamer computer that I've been dreaming for years to have and I feel that now it's time for it. Make sense?

 

hum, interesting! i have only one for the time being and so far am totally satisfied with just having her. someday i might be interested in a boy doll but not for a LONG time.

 

Sadly, I never considered one doll. Well, I kind of did... When I bought my first, I figured I wouldn't be able to afford another one. But I wanted her boyfriend, who WILL appear as soon as I can find a suitable mould. And she came with a floating head, so at the very least I would have ended up with two dolls, as the head I started out keeping for faceups is now a character, and needs a body so I can have two dolls to play with. ^_^ And I'm planning for a Puki Piki... and I kind of want a second one, but I think I may settle with one Puki unless another mould comes from them that I REALLY love.

And I want a BF Olive... Um... 6_6; Yeah. So no, I am not, and will not, be successful in getting only one doll. I also thought I would only buy dolls whose characters already existed, but my Puki Piki and Zra I actually had to create characters for. Therefore, I think I might just craft a new world solely for my dolls and call it a day. ^^;

Not that I plan on giving my Miep away, but I think I now understand what you mean by opening your heart to another doll calling. I may have to edit what I had earlier posted about having just the one - I think I may have contracted the Nariponis bug. Anyone know of a cure?? I went to their website to purchase some eyes and a wig, and I had a tiny attach herself to my shopping cart...needless to say, it took alot just to remove her. But now, I keep thinking about her... What to do???

 

I bought my first MSD girl with intention of buying her a MSd bo. that was my plan. I now have both, and well I saw a puki and really wanted a lil cat friend for them and the puskia seemed to fit.. so basically it is just a couple and their cat friend.

I think its going to end there for me but I feel it is mostly financial that keeps me constant with my lil family (I think if I had the $ that was needed a Kara Klum would have been joining my kids). what keeps me in check is that I atm dont have a job so that every dollar I save needs to be put to very good use. I feel more at ease purchasing clothing wigs and eyes for my couple that I have now (well can make more of a reasoning in my mind to spend for them).

But I do admit... after a bit its not necessarily that you fall out of love its just another comes along that just catches your eye and seems more like your style. A lot of ways to help with that:
1. for your old doll.. try a new wig.. new set of eyes.. change her/his costume could be just that you havent found what really looks the best with the character. Did this with Pinkie just to make sure that she can have all the potential that I feel she has.

2. is to go to doll meets.. and see the doll you've been craving up close and personal. It can tell you right off if you are going to love the new doll or if its just the good photography that caught your eye. *Happened to me with Uni Doll Ark... really wanted one.. then saw one from personal photos with a comparison of another doll that i had seen in person. Discovered it was way too big of a doll for me*

 

at first i only wanted one, and now im up to 8 with 2 on the way XD. planning 23 total. I fail this mission miserablly lol
