Survey, sort of: What do you like/hate about your dolls?

Nov 26, 2009

1. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
1)Volks F-34 SD13 girl
2)Volks School C SD13 girl
3)Volks Heath
4)Volks MSD Schulze
5)Volks Liz head (will be SD10 boy)

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
1)F34 - The promo pics from Volks showed a sweet, demure girl and I had to have her!
2)School C - has been growing on me for a very long time and I finally fully realized how beautiful she is.
3)Heath - was the cheapest Volks boy doll I've ever seen!
4)Volks MSD Schulze - has my favorite MSD face of all companies.
5)Volks Liz head (will be SD10 boy) - was my favorite SD girl.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
All my dolls are from Volks because I love their body sculpts, their thickness and sturdiness, and the smoothness of their resin.
1)F34 - Has a coquettish look to her eyes, even when eyes aren't in the sockets!
2)School C - Beautiful melancholy face with adorable overbite.
3)Heath - Long face, slender cheeks, and full lips! Heath was one of my least favorite boys when I bought him and now I love him and think he's sexy & gorgeous.
4)Schulze - Sweet round face with large eyes and wide mouth that remind me of both School A and School C. I have a lot of sewing patterns for MSD's and he's a convenient size. He's big enough to hold onto and not drop but small enough to be easily carried around.
5) Liz head - Delicate egg shaped head, softly upturned nose, and all other facial features.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
They don't pose very well because their joints don't have a wide range of movements. Their headcaps also don't stay on very well, even with magnets.
1)F34 - Looks much older than the promo pictures and has an oddly shaped nose that's terrible to photograph.
)School C - nothing!
3)Heath - His head is TINY and squarish and is a difficult fit for wigs. One eye is sculpted at a different angle from the other and placing eyes can be challenging. His pouty-kissy lips have to be caught from the right angle or he looks like a dweeb. :XD:
4)Schulze - Face can look too round from certain angles. All my favorites were modded to have teeth and I wish mine had teeth, too. I also wish he had a girl body.
5) Liz head - Liz can sometimes look mean or cranky from certain angles. The head isn't tiny but the shape causes wigs to slide off easily.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
1)F34 - I would never have bought an F34 if I had waited for owner pictures. She doesn't have the look I wanted her to and she doesn't seem to fit with my other dolls. Even though I love her, if something happened to her, I wouldn't replace her.
)School C - Definitely! I looked at her for years before buying her and I'm very happy with my decision.
3)Heath - Definitely! I only bought him because of the awesome price but now I really love him. If something happened to him, I would absolutely buy another Heath!
4)Schulze - Definitely! The Schulze/Maria head is too adorable and I'm looking forward to the challenge of finishing him and giving him the look I want him to have.
5)Liz head - Definitely! I would have bought Liz as my first girl if I had known Patience was going to look so mature and worldly.

2. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?

Volks WS F08, CH Yeonu, AR Ren, AR Ren [Volks Hybrid].

I've previously owned: CH Hyun, Mythdoll Leroi, CP Chiwoo [AR Hybrid].

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)

Usually the prices.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

Their characters I suppose. I'm not too fond of any of my dolls before I work on them.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

Usually the proportions. Especially on my AR Ren -_-

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

I wouldn't have bothered with my AR twins or the Leroi. I shouldn't have bothered with the Hyun either due to his size.

3. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
CP VDES Head - Volks Dollfie Dream Hybrid (my first "Bjd")
SoulDoll Paris
DollZone Mo-Wen (white)
Limhwa Limho Mano (beige urethane)
DollZone BB July (white)
SoulDoll Bebe Aku
+ 4 differnt (style-wise) MNM heads, and a SoulDoll Iso floating head.

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)

The primary factor was my loving the sculpts. If I like a sculpt that's that,
I'll probably stalk the web-site/store that sells it but I'll probably won't buy it.
If I love the sculpt then it will probably come home with me (that's why my
collection is relatively small, because I don't fall in-love with every doll I see). ^ ^

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability,
access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

Mostly their sculpts. XD Redundant as that might be, I'm mostly about aesthetics,
not only when it comes to my work, but also when it comes to all my hobbies,
and most aspects of my life. So, what I love most about my dolls is how they look
physically, mostly their facial sculpts and details. I also like their resin to have a bit
of texture, it adds a lot of depth when photographing them - I'm not particularly fond
of DollZone & CP resins for that reason, they are ultra smooth (despite that I liked
DZ sculpts enough to buy from them again. ^ ^;;.).

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability,
access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

I think the size of their eyes, in relation to the rest of their faces, at least it sometimes
bother me in my Paris, if it weren't for the massiveness of his eyes, he would be perfect.
Still he remains my most beloved one - the first bjd I feel in-love with.
It also sometimes bother me that their heads are a bit bigger in proportion to
the rest of their bodies, than I would like. I think they are not as out of proportion
as other dolls, but it sitll bothers me. It also bothers me that m Paris' pecs are short,
awkardly short, though it is something that most male dolls suffer from, it bothers me
that my Paris' pectorals are short. >_<;;

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it,
would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

Yes, I would have. I knew that these dolls were stylized from the begining, and still
I love the ones I own. I would probably have thought it a bit more about getting my
one and only girl, had I known it was such a pain in the neck for me to make clothes
for her. But still, I think I would have still gotten her, just maybe not with that body. >_<;;;

4. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?

It's getting to be a laundry list. Let's see, in the order I got them: AoD 1/4 Wang Zi & Rao, OrientDoll Tae, Resin Soul 1/6 Bei & Bao, and my crown jewel, a Luts Senior Delf Blanchet.

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)

The first two I bought because I liked the sculpt for the price. Now that I think of it, all of them except the last (which was a gift) I bought for that reason. I know there are better looking, more expensive dolls, but I wanted to be really sure I was hooked before investing in the REALLY nice dolls.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

The AoD's and Luts dolls have nice poseability, the OD has a lovely delicate sculpt, the Resin Souls have quirky, charming expressions.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

The AoD head sculpts aren't as fine as I've come to like. The OD is in the same scale as my other 1/4's. He looks more like a jumped up, pissed off Ken doll. The Resin Souls have rather sucky bodies in terms of posing, pretty but limited in certain ways. I haven't had the Luts long enough to find a flaw.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

The only one I consider a mistake is the OD Tae, because I can't pose him with my other dolls. His scale and proportion are too different from the others. If I could have seen that in his auction photos, I probably would have saved my money. Though some of the others I've bought are buggy and very much WIP, I'm learning so much that's it's a good thing.

5. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?

a) Luts KDF Ani
b) Felix Brownie Tobby

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)?

a) Her sculpt mostly. She has such an intense look on her face, and she's absolutely adorable!
b) The price hehe. I really wanted a tiny, but I needed one that my boyfriend could afford since he was gifting it to me. Tobby came in at a shocking $78 + shipping, and was super cute.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

a) My favorite thing about Mira is her size. She fits wonderfully in my arms and is just the perfect little angel. Her resin too is wonderfully smooth and I hardly even notice the seam lines (they are there =3).
b) Sheer poseability andthat to die-for face. I was actually quite unhappy with how Felix had done her faceup. It looked nothing like the site and they even ran out of the wig Bee was supposed to come with. But as time went on, the faceup grew on me and the wig was actually even better than the original.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)?
(physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
a) I would have to say her 'upset' look. I would've liked if she had a bit of a smile, with higher eyebrows so she didn't look so upset all the time. And her kicky limbs. She's tough to pose x.x;;
b) Her head is super floppy and comes off too easily. Her hands have a tendancy to come off really easily with the slightest tug.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

Definitely! They are well worth the money I paid for them. I love them both dearly and wouldn't replace them for anything in the world =3.

6. What types of dolls?
I have mainly SDs grom a variety of companies but also a Troop Tiny most of which are the mature ones except for a couple of Pukis & Brownies (which seem more like little magical creatures than actual children to me.) The only real child doll I have is Nor Doll Lab's Lucy.

What factor made you buy that particular doll?
Because I fell in love with it & occasionally I can get a good price but the sculpt & face-up are the deciding factor for me.

What do you love most about your dolls?
Their sculpts, face-ups & changability.

What do love least about your dolls?
When I get a doll that doesn't look like it's promo pic & when they're super kicky.

If you knew what you know now about the doll before you purchased it, would you have still purchased that doll or would you have chosen another?
For the most part I would still have purchased them. There were a few that I wouldn't have bought if I'd seen the actual doll in person first.

7. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
Right now I only have a DollnDoll Loren. But I'm shortly gonna order a Crobidoll Ys B Type! <33

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
I fell in love with both of them instantly. They both hit me hard. I love 'em! > u<

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
I love both of their appearances. They sculpt. They're both amazing. I wish Citlali (D&D Loren) were more possible, but I'll live. Ys should be pretty poseable. I just hope his appearance turns out the way I want it to. Lol. Citlali turned out well, so I'm hoping he will. But all in all, I love everything about them! <33

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
Other then Citlali not being that great of a poser.. Not much. XD

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
Definitely without a doubt would've still bought Citlali. And am still gonna buy Ys. I love Citlali to death! ^ u^ <3

8. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
I have one Pullip her name is Pippin and one Felix Doll Brownie, her name is Whisper. And on the way I have Littlefee Ante, whose name is Whinny.

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
I'll just count Pippin out since she's a Pullip (but I loves her anyways). But Whisper was bought for the amazing price, and Whinny is coming here because I think she is the most beautiful sculpt I have ever seen :fangirl:

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
I dunno about Whinny yet, but I love Whisper because she's so posable and cute! And it's nice that Kelly clothes are somewhat easy to find and look good on her.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
I don't like that she gets dirty easily. But that's my fault, not hers. And I don't like that Kelly clothes aren't really sold in stores anymore. And I don't like that she's so hard to do a face-up on, but that's just 'cause she's small.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
I would still have gotten her of course!

9. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?

Minis: Dollzone, Dolkot, Minifee, Lati (head), DoC (body), Souldoll (body), Mythdoll (body); Tinies: PukiPuki, Resinsoul 27cm; 60cm: Delf heads on Fdoll body

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
I have to love the sculpt and have or be able to quickly come up with a character for it before I will buy it - price has little to no bearing on head sculpts, but I will compromise and have a head share a body or use a temporary "cheap" body if needed. A couple of the bodies were bought initially because they were cheap, but also because they suited the character. The only "cheap" body I have plans to replace is the Fdoll one. I will be replacing one of the "expensive" bodies with a better one, though. One doll I did buy because I was buying in person and it was the only one they had in the size I wanted. Luckily it turns out I LOVE the head sculpt - glad I saw it in person because the company photos are horrible and I wouldn't have bought her otherwise.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

Well, of course I love the head sculpts on all of them. Other than that, I love the poseability of my Dollzones, and my Minifee A-line body especially (but NOT the B-line), I like the resin texture of my Dolkot boy. I really love how easy it is to switch out and remove heads with the Minifees. I have had little problem finding clothes that fit for any of mine (finding clothes I like and/or can afford is another issue entirely), but I especially like how easy it is to find clothes for my Resinsoul 27cm girl. She's easy for wigs, too. Dolly retail therapy is easier and cheaper if you can just run to the nearest store if you feel the desperate need for a new outfit or wig. I love how easy it was to mod open the eyes on my Dreaming El, since he was dreaming but not "sleeping".

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)?
(physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

The poseability of my Minifee B-line body is really lacking. The sculpting is gorgeous, resin is wonderful, but the lack of an upper torso joint drives me insane. It's annoying one of my most expensive doll bodies can't pose as well as my super-cheap ones. I love the resin on my Dolkot boy, but I cannot trust him to stay standing for long. He easily makes gorgeous natural poses, but is not a rock-solid stander. I'm spoiled my my solid-standing out of the box Dollzones. I hated the constantly buckling knees on my Fdoll body, until I wired them to the point that they only bend with some force applied. Now I just need to fix the button-nipples and it'll be all good. My Lati head-DoC body hybrid has little head poseability and a wonky ankle, which is mildly annoying. My Puki is an excellent poser depending on how restrictive her clothes are but is top-heavy, especially with a wig on. The hip caps on my A-line Minifee are mildly annoying, but easy to adjust. I like well-posing dolls, but with some work I find very little that can't be fixed on any doll.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

I would have. I have bought all mine because I love their faces, and that would not change. The Lati/DoC hybrid I probably still would have bought even knowing about his minor head poseability issue, because his price was unbelievably good and he works so well as a character. The only thing I might NOT have still bought was the B-line Minifee body for one of my Minifee heads - but again, the price was good and it got one more head off the floating head shelf. I'll keep it until I can afford to replace it, then sell it on.

10. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?

KEFRI - laidoll lily, KRYSS - Latidoll hunter, RAT - MNF Ruth/AOD hybrid, FAE - DnD Romi, FLAME - Dnd Rumi, OYUKI - MNF Shushu, PIXIE -Unoa hybrid, Nobility Dew awaiting face. OPALLO - MNF El modded elf. JINKUSU - FD Glen, unamed puki Piki, ADAM - Narin

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)

Sculpt first, then whether or not I could afford it.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)Mostly I love their look and their 'personality' Kefri being my first is always going to be just that little bit more favourite than the others. I love her face, so expressive and it changes all the time. Kryss is so mysterious, Rat can pose the best of the lot and lets hear it for AOD bodies! Everyone I have I love.
I'm a total convert to Luts bodies although I'd have preferred to get the better posing ones.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
Kefri if she has a 'fault' is that her posing is limited in her arms, I like to pose her holding her horse and she can't without having and elbow propped on Gala, Adam can't sit up properly no matter how I try (haven't got to sueding yet tho) Kryss has this habit of looking miserable ALL the time - but we love him for it lol.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
Absolutely not.

11. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have? LeekeWorld Leina, Kawainino Dreaming Iz, DollZone Reiko, 2 floating MsDoll heads, A.I.L Fiona floating head

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?) The sculpt.I fell in love with each one instantly.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
I love, love love their sculpt, also how photogenic they all are.I love the posiblity of my DollZone Reiko, and the faceups of my SD dolls, which they came with.I just love them, plain and simple c:

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
My LeekeWorld Leina cannot stand on her own at all unless I suede and maybe wire her, she is strictly a sitting doll. But she sits cutely c:
I don't really like how stylised DZ Reiko is compared to my other dolls *I still love her though*
Also the fact that I have to find bodies that match the resin of my floating heads.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
Looking back I probably would have ordered a blank DZ Reiko head so that I can give her my own faceup.I hate the idea of wiping such a gorgeous default faceup ><

12. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
dollmore kid aiden named lucan
bobobie an named oliver

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
Lucan: he was the first doll that i saw that i wanted to buy, he was affordable and has a really sassy/snarky look about him that i adore!!!
Oliver: i traded him for a SD head and i thought that he would fit in with my other doll.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

dollmore kid aiden: his resin, nose, expressive sculpt and the fact that he's a really sturdy stander.
bobobie an: his resin is really smooth and his skin tone makes it easy to do face-ups on him.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

dollmore kid aiden (with modded sanded down cheeks): when i got him and before i modded him i was upset that he looked so young, but after i sanded down his cheeks i like him alot more. his poseability isn't the best but i plan on modding him one day to fix that.

bobobie an: the initial floppy-ness....his big eyes (they don't go with my other doll)....him being really skinny....he's most likely going to end up being sold since he doesn't really mesh well with my beloved dollmore kid.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

dollmore kid aiden: HECK YES!!! despite the minor flaws listed above he was worth every cent i paid for him and i cherish him

bobobie an: ehhh nope, had i known that he would not have went well with my first doll then i wouldn't have bothered trading for him.

13. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
A couple of Dollstowns, a couple of Volkses, and a Bambicrony.

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
For me it's all about the sculpt! If I don't like a doll without paint, I don't like it at all.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
For my Dollstowns it's how quirky and almost repellently homely their faces are... their bodies are sublimely sculpted. Okay they're painfully thin, but so beautifully rendered they're just heartbreaking.
For my Volkses it's the opposite! They're healthy, robust and adorably stylized. I love a set of extremes, I does. My Skyblue Kiera is almost too cute for me, so I dyed her and messed her up really good trying my best to give her a much needed dose of pathos. We'll see if it works! I love her bug eyes most of all, and her dainty hands. Okay, just about everything!

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
My Elf Soph has too short a body, and her feet are too small.
My Mari's feet are too small and her clawlike hands remind me of a piano player's hands that are cramping with fatigue. Gawds I wish the poor child could relax her hands!!! She also has a bit too much of a scoop to her nose bridge, but of all the 7age girls, she had the most natural-looking nose.
(Soph has a scoop, too, but hers suits her, so I don't mind it!)
My Volks' Swarrico bodies drive me nuts, they always want to collapse into the 'cute kneeling' position. I should have ordered regular bodies!! >_<
My Bambicrony could use a bit more definition in her lower torso, and I loathe the thin spots in her back where her wing magnets were.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
If I'd have had serious issues with any of these problems I wouldn't have been able to keep these dolls. One of these days I might try to get Mari new hands if I can find something in the right color... I also consider offering up my NS MSD girl's Swarrico body in trade for a standard. That way I'd have one of each, at least!

14. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
Obitsu 60cm with Haruka head
-waiting for 2 RS dolls Mai and Rongbody/Mei head

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
Got her on ebay the price was right and I couldn't pass her up.
-Directly from RS..the different colored resins attracted me to them and the price was good, and I think the dolls are beautiful

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
Havent had much time with her but she seems to pose very well and I love that she has the magentic feet to keep her standing!
-I'm hoping that poseability will be good with the RS we will see, I'm sure I will love their coloring!

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)?
(physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
I'm still on the fence about her soft vinyl torso, but I'm thinking it will be great when I start making her clothing and can get things to fit
-we will see about the RS dolls when I receive them

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
I think I may have chosen to buy a RS first, but I don't have any regrets. As I mentioned she hasn't been with me long I bought her about 2 months ago andshe is went out for her face up over 2 weeks ago. So only time will tell if I am happy with her.-I think the only thing I may regret is the size, I was indecisive about get the 43cm RS or 58/61cm, I have only seen BJD here online and not in person so was uncertain about what size to get for my little girl and boy.

15. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
I have a Leekworld Mihael, a Migidoll Miho and a Souldoll HP Celina (not counting my floating head right now)

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
With Mihael it was definitely the sculpt, he is still my absolute favourite sculpt out of every doll I've seen. With Miho, I really love Migidoll dolls and he was gorgeous - simple as that. Celina was because she has gorgeous blue resin and I wanted a dark elf character from the game Oblivion.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
Mihael, I love his resin colour, it's creamy and soft unlike other more yellow-based resin tones (which I also have and like the dolls with them) but I love the clearness of his skin. I love his mouth as well, just his general expression. He's awesome. My Miho has jointed hands which I adore and he came with a gorgeous face-up (he was bought off the marketplace) and he's without a doubt the best at standing of my dolls, he's the only one that hasn't needed restringing. Celina's pretty good at standing too, and she has a gorgeous body shape, plus the Souldoll body is great at keeping poses so she's very impressive.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
Mihael's body!! He's absolutely terrible at posing, his joints are too heavy for him to hold and he can't stand for anything, even after hot-glue sueding and restringing twice. He's awful. Miho... nothing really - oh no, wait. Yeah, his headcap is a nightmare. If you push against it at the bottom - even gentely - it pops off. I think he's going to need a second magnet fitting at some point :| and Celina... since restringing so that her head can fit on it has been almost impossible to get her to stand - I've acheived it now but one of her legs twists around a bit. She also seems to be slightly alergic to wigs, even with a wig cap so it looks like she might need velcro instead. Also, finding a wig colour that goes with her blue resin and red eyes is proving to be problematic.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

Hmmm... I would still have chosen all of them. I couldn't be without Mihael, despite the arguments we get into trying to get him to stand. Celina's gorgeous and none of her problems are that bad. It's not my favourite sculpt in the world, but there aren't exactly an abundance of elf dolls with that rich blue colour resin, and she's not ugly at all. As for Miho, fixing his headcap is a small headache that will be easily sorted and once he has eyes and a wig I'm sure I'll get so attached that he becomes irreplacable, so I'm not worried in the slightest.

16. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
Volks Dollfie Dream OH01, Volks SD Megu, Volks SDC Kurt, Volks SDC Kurenai, Volks YoSD Yuh and Camellia Dynasty Wong (although the Wong is off-topic for DoA).

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)

Dollfie Dream – Momoko was a project doll, her body was intended for a resin head, but I didn't like the look of resin and vinyl together, so I got an option head for her instead. She's the doll I photograph the most and transport the most pretty much because she is one of the easiest dolls to carry. Dollfie Dreams are very light, but when set in a pose they'll also stay put. I'm a big fan of the DD internal skeleton.

SD Megu – Mafonwen is my most recent doll and she is also a project doll, she's on an oldskin 'crazy legs' body which is proving to be an interesting challenge! I bought her because I've always wanted a Four Sisters/F01 and I managed to find all the pieces I wanted for the price I was willing to pay. Even though a lot of people are unflattering in their dislike for the oldskin body, I quite like it.

SDC Kurt – Ahh, my only boy, and my first Volks *huggles* I bought Rupert because he's Volks' LE frog boy! I love frogs and collect frog figurines, so Rupert was a nice bridge between one collection and another.

SDC Kurenai – My second Volks doll, I bought Melangell because I really liked the SDC body and I wanted a girl with one too. I found her at a really good price on the MP, the bonus was that I could buy her on layaway and she was also within the UK, so I wouldn't have to pay customs fees.

YoSD Yuh – I traded a MiniFee Rheia for this little beauty. I'd always wanted a Yo as a handbag doll I could easily transport around, it was an awesome trade from my point of view, because as much as I liked the MiniFee, she didn't really go with the rest of my collection. Mari-chan is so expressive and one of my favourite dolls.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

Dollfie Dream – very easy to carry, easy to pose, elegant lines of the body, never a problem finding clothes, stands for weeks at a time unsupported

SD Megu – never a problem finding clothes, I like her comforting weight, she's strung loosely so when she sits on my knee she actually snuggles closer to me

SDC Kurt – awesome poser (I love the three-part torso), love his resin weight and texture, easy to carry

SDC Kurenai – awesome poser (I love the three-part torso), no problems finding clothes or shoes, easy to carry

YoSD Yuh – very easy to carry, never a problem finding clothes, eternally cute

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
Dollfie Dream – staining!

SD Megu – insane legs, won't stand without a lot of attention, quite heavy for her size, wish her back wasn't as arched as it is

SDC Kurt – difficult to find the clothes I need for him in his size, I always find perfect outfits for Rupert in SD13 size I love his froggy hands very much, but I get nervous of breaking them when I'd find it difficult to replace them.

SDC Kurenai – I wish Volks made more optional hands for SDC girls, Melangell's splayed fingers can make it difficult to put clothes on her, and I'm a little afraid of her breaking a hand and not being able to replace it.

YoSD Yuh – posing is a little tricky because she's quite top-heavy, she can pitch forward on her head if you don't pose her securely.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

I don't think my dolls have that many issues, or at least the issues aren't really a big deal to me overall. I like research, so I knew a little of what I was getting into before I purchased my dolls, I knew Dollfie Dreams had a tendency to stain and that Volks' oldskin bodies were heavy and had insane legs, but I decided that the good of owning these dolls far outweighed the negatives.

I also don't mind very much about yellowing, it's a natural part of the aging process of resin and unless it's particularly uneven or bright, I don't mind it. My dolls that have yellowed have gone a creamy colour rather than a banana or sunshine yellow, so I can live with that and I don't consider it to be a negative or a defect.

17. This is for my current crew, though #2 and #5 also applies to future dolls.

1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?

1. DOC Elf Petsha
2. Dolkot Junior Day
3. Brownie Zeppelin GoGo
4. Dollzone Jake
5. MNF Rheia
6. Bobobie ♂ Ariel (incoming)

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)

The deciding factor on a doll I purchase is the face sculpt. When I'm on the prowl I have a certain look and expression in mind, so when I find what I'm looking for I pretty much know. Price is not really a factor to me - I'd rather save for months/years for a doll that fits the character it is intended for than settle for one that only fits him/her "so-so".

There are certain exceptions to the "face first" rule, however. EX: My most recent acquisition needed to have gray or purple skin (like his OC), and since I'm not brave enough to dye a doll I was limited to the BBB/RS sculpts. It worked out wonderfully though since I happened to fall in love with multiple sculpts there, two of which (Ariel and Sprite) fit the character perfectly!

Out of my current crew, the one I fell hardest for was DZ Jake. I don't know why... his sculpt just called to me and I couldn't get him out of my head months before I even ordered him.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

1. Petsha: Face sculpt (especially eyes) and resin color. Her pink skin with blue undertones is gorgeous!
2. Day: His skinny body and sheepish grin.
3. GoGo: That face! Oh goodness, that little open mouth of his is so cute!
4. Jake: Everything - poseability, price, face sculpt.
5. Rheia: Her eyes, lips and legs/body sculpt. She's my sassy minx!
6. Bobobie ♂ Ariel: He hasn't arrived yet so I can't say for certain, but his droopy ears, fantasy resin selection and affordability.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)?
(physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)

All my dolls have faults. I'm not afraid to admit that.

1. Petsha: Poseability, elbows and the default face-up she came with (which she no longer has).
2. Day: His triple joints are overwhelming. His company also has customer service issues, and even though my experience was wonderful it makes me depressed when others have problems.
3. GoGo: He is so small he is difficult to dress.
4. Jake: If I had to say.... his lower lip. Looks a bit odd, but I love him anyway.
5. Rheia: Honestly I'm not as happy with her joint-system as I thought I'd be. She doesn't pose as well as my DZ who was half the price. At first I was put off by her cheeks too, but in time I learned to love 'em. <3
6. Bobobie ♂ Ariel: When he arrives I'm sure there will be something. I'll have to wait and see.

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?

Yes, I would have still purchased the doll. I only choose a doll if I love its face sculpt and can visualize the look I am going for. If I receive a BJD and it doesn't fit in with the set/group it is intended for (due to proportions, realism/style, etc.) I'll sell him/her. Even if that happens I don't regret the purchase: I mark it up as a learning experience.

18. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
Minifee A-line Ruth girl

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
The beautiful design of the joints. They are so cleverly integrated into the body and look so natural, and the body shape is so graceful.
I chose the head sculpt because it had a cute smile.

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
Her posing, her beautiful body, her cute face.. but I was most impressed by her ankle joints. XD; It's hardly noticeable unless you unstring her, but they're not just round balls. They're carefully shaped to give the impression of ankle bones. Such a careful, subtle detail!

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
Um.. her head cap does not stay on by itself. But that's really about it. XD;;

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
I would still have chosen her. :3

19. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
Littlefee Ante Elf, Littlefee Leah, Littlefee Bisou

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
Sculpt most definitely. Ante elf was my first and she pretty much screamed at me "BUY ME, I'M THE ONE!" Size was also a big factor. They were the absolute perfect size for the creatures in my story, and I liked the versatility that Fairyland allowed through all their wonderful dolls. The price is a bit higher than some of the other Tinies but it's SO worth it for the AMAZING posablitily. Fairyland is so amazing that I plan on several of each size (excluding the new chic-line).

3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
All of the sculpts are really lovely. I ADORE my Ante<3 Personally, I don't really gravitate toward the lifeless, delicate "porcelain doll" look so I really love how much life and character Fairyland dolls have. Also, aside from their obvious attractiveness, they pose in mind blowing ways. I honestly can't get over how well they balance and pose (and they're joints are beautiful to boot! Fairyland has geniuses working for them, I swear). Fairyland dolls are also really popular so I have easy access to pretty much anything I need through the Marketplace/ Seamstresses.

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)?
(physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
There isn't much I DON'T like about my fairyland dolls. I love them to pieces and I'm happy about each one of my purchases. The most I can say is that I hate waiting for them to release new sculpts haha... and that they soak up all my money. Can you tell I have a Fairyland addiction?

The only thing I guess I can say I 'dislike' is more about the restraints of the size. My LTF aren't children, but have child-like body types... More like an impish non-human being. However, the size (in a world that is largly Mini or SD) doesn't allow as much for evolution. They are seen as children, and portraying their stories as anything but often comes off 'weird' in relation to the other dolls on the forum. (I will never, however, upgrade them to Minifee size, because that just isn't their body type).

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
Nope, I did my research... and I wouldn't change a thing. I love my Fairyland babies.<3

20. 1. What kind of doll(s) do you have?
bobobie Mei&Song
Luts YDER

2. What factor made you buy that particular doll(s)? (sculpt/price?)
Price,
sculpt
3. What do you love most about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
They were just too beautiful. :D

4. What do you love least about your doll(s)? (physical aspects - poseability, access to clothes, patterning, mod ability, resin type, etc)
bbb mei: the way she poses, its just not good, and she doesn't fit mose clothes cause shes 'small' >: (
bbb song: posing, there are bubbles in his resin :'(
luts yder: Posing (type 1 body) and hes yellow -_-;

5. If you knew what you know now about the doll before you had purchased it, would you still have purchased that doll(s), or would you have chosen another?
I'm not sure, probably not. I would have tried to save up for a better doll. :/
