Tall BJD owners and doll sizes

Nov 29, 2012

1. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
I'm 186cm :) I have dolls in puki-size and the doll in 60cm.
No, I think so...
But I'm dreaming in big Dahlia and Trinity Dollmore dolls ^_^

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
I'll chose a very large SD... Meha Angels from Sooms is my dream too..

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
Maybe)

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
Perfect is 30cm for everyday using... But I like 60cm dolls.

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
Doesn't mater)

2. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
I'm about 183cm, depending on which boots I'm wearing. I have all different sizes of bjd, and wasn't really thinking about my height when picking them. Even my 70 and 80 cm dolls don't seem awkward to move around, though.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
Large SD-size, please. I want another Mecha Angel girl. The one I have isn't even painted yet, and she's already magnificent.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby?
I like having more detail on the things I make for my big dolls, but I also like the instant gratification of finishing tiny clothes quickly. I can crochet a full outfit for a tiny in one afternoon; it would take days for a bigger doll.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
70+cm, probably.

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
Volks MSD F-12. I would love a tiny-tiny of her to live in my handbag. :D

3. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
I'm 5'10", so even big dolls aren't overwhelming to me. I actually really like 70cm dolls because they're so heavy. I wouldn't say that my height played a role in getting bigger dolls, but it has never made it difficult for me to have the bigger guys. I don't really like MSD or smaller, but that may just be my aesthetic preference, rather than to do with my own size.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
I'd have a large SD. They're heavy and cuddly, and more fun than the tinies to me!

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby?
I think really the only thing that affects my love for bigger dolls is that I like to get more boys than girls, since big girls are hard to find clothes for. That being said, I also just prefer boys, so it again it isn't my only deciding factor.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?

I like all different types of sizes, for different reasons. I do love the big boys, but I also like 65 cm, and even the 60cm dolls. I have all these sizes, so I guess it depends on what my mood is for the day!

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
I want a FP60 Celine. I'd love to see a big Celine girl, so cute!

4. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?

I'm 183 cm (6ft) tall, and I have 1 yoSD, 2 Minis, and 2 SD (though I'm going to sell one if not both of them). Height didn't really play that much of a role, really, it was more of trying out the size and seeing if it felt right.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
Neither :sweat but if I really had to choose, then probably small.
3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
I keep on wanting to get SD sized dolls, but then I remember that I don't really like them that much.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
26cm or 44cm

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?

Pretty much I wish that a lot of Volks SD dolls came in MSD size, or even a mid size. I'm liking the SDC line because of that.

5. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
I'm 5'2" (So pretty short!). I have 3 SDs, 4 MSDs, and 3 Tinies. So I'd say that was pretty balanced.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
I guess my favorite size is MSD, but if I had to choose between a tiny and an SD, I'd pick tiny because I live in a one bedroom apartment and lack space!

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
I think it does. I think I can do more with my smaller dolls because they're more mobile. That doesn't mean I love my larger dolls any less, but they definitely don't fit on my bookshelf so they spend most of their time in a drawer away from the predators (aka cats)

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
40cm. MSD :)

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
I'd like a KDF Lolly in SD size because I love her so much I want her in all sizes. LOL <3

6. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
Well I'm considered tall at 5ft 11" for a woman. I have two small tinies, one MSD, majority of SD's, one Lusion and one Trinity ( both 80cm and over, so large dolls). I suppose I did think that as I'm so tall the larger dolls wouldn't be so much of a problem for me to work with, and I do in fact love their size as they don't intimidate me which I think they might do smaller people.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
Definitely a very large SD. Funny though I haven't really been into EIDs but I have an EID Dexter for my Fiance I have yet to style and would really like an EID Luna, rather than the SID size.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
Yes, in a way it does. My larger dolls are much more fun to dress and style, because it's easier to adapt adult clothes for them. Also when I've been photographing my larger dolls, when I then pick up an SD, they feel/look like tiny dolls next to them.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
I don't really have a perfect size as such, but I am not at all keen on MSD sized dolls, and don't think I will be keeping mine long term.My two tinies are more like pet dolls for my larger ones.

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
I suppose I'd like to see Supia Rosy in a larger SD size, but apart from a IP Luna, I don't have any more dolls on my wishlist....yet!

7. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked? Iḿ 150 cm and like SD ( i like big dolls :D) but i have 3 sd, 1 msd 3 yosd and a tiny(waiting for Elyssia she should arrive in may <3)

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two? SD ofc...

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
I take much more photos of my yosd girls outside/bring them on trips and so on, its kind of hard to carry around a huge chunk of resin vs putting a smaler one in your handbag..

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres? 59-70 cm, but if you want to travel with them alot i would say 25-30 cm

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size? Trinity Doll elyssia ( i want her in lusion doll siize..., around 80 cm)

8. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?

I am 5'10- and to be honest most of my dolls are 70 cm or over. I think my height does play a factor- I only liked 60- 70cm for many years and greatly admired those of my friends who had so many beautiful MSD's. Then came a time about a year ago that I discovered Unoas and the now discontinued citron bleu. Once that happened I started buying MSD's. I have three Unoa's now and a Citron Bleu from Notdoll. XD

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?

Very large SD- just because I would be afraid of loosing the tiny or misplacing parts.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)

Well, I find it eaiser to make a larger doll into a character. It is usually the MSD's take longer because 1. the clothes I have in mind are harder to find 2. I don't have as many items for them as I do the larger dolls 3. The MSD's in my stories are very specific and it takes longer to pull together a series of looks for them.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?

70cm or a taller. Or a MSD about 45- 50 cm

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?[/QUOTE]

Sooooo many. Unoa's came in larger versions- especially Lusis. Sard and Heliot came in an MSD. Bory Unicorn version came in SD size. Judith dolls came in SD size The list like goes on forever. XD

9. the next an probably last bjd im getting is Dollmore Elysia and she it 2/3 my height (she is 105 im 150) it scares me a little -_-

10. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked? I'm 5'6" so, not terribly tall. Most of my collection are in the 70cm range with the exception of my two MSD girls. Did my height factor in? I don't *think* so? I chose my dolls because I thought they had presence.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two? I would go with the SD.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?) I think big dolls are probably easier to photograph. Storage can be an issue though. They're sort of taking over the house.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres? 70cm is my favorite. Though I like MSD's too.

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size? There are a few mature boy sculpts in the 50cm that I wish were bigger.

11. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
I'm quite a small girl, 5'1" (156cm) and 97 pounds (44 kg.) I got MSD and Yosd size dolls. I love SD so much but it would be hard for me to carry dolls which sized almost half of me. Even when I hold a MSD I still think it is quite big.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
SD ^_^ even it is big, but I love mature doll

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
No

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
Around 45cm-50cm

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
souldoll : Shiva
Dollzone : Tulip, Stramonium

12. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?

I'm about 5'9". I've never really considered my height in relation to my dolls, I just buy what I like.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?

Very large SD. They're easier to sew for, easier to photograph and I like how substantial they are.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)

Like mentioned above, I find larger dolls easier to photograph and clothe. But smaller dolls can be easier to pose, and of course they're easier to carry around. I tend to bring tinies on trips with me.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?

62 cm is a nice size to me. :)

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?

I'd love to see Dollshe MSD boys!

13. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
-I'm pretty tall at 6'0" (183cm) but all of my current dolls are 42cm's or shorter (the smallest is 11.5 but I'm starting to think she's too small for my tastes) I do have an Iplehouse JID guy on order and he's 46cm so he'll be the tallest doll when he arrives.

Previous I've had 2 SD+ size girls and they just didn't work for me, but I'm really tempted to get a Dollshe Saint (I absolutely adore his face <3)

I do have a floating Volks four sisters head, so I will have 1 SD once she gets a body :)

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
- right now I'd pick a very large SD and get a Dollshe Saint or maybe a Lusion Dahlia.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
- I tend to sew, knit and build more props and clothes for my tiny's and my Yo-SDs, but my MSDs have more of a 'story line' and I like bringing them to doll meet more.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
- no idea, I like a range of sizes :)

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
- Most of the larger Supia girls (especially Muse!) I'd want them to be around 40-45cm. and while I'm wishing a shorter Dollshe Saint would be great (maybe around 50cm, but still with the same proportions as full-size :) )

14. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?

I'm 6' tall and most of my dolls are SD. I had zero interest in MSD's though I now own a couple. I don't think my height really influenced it wanting SD sized dolls.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?

Large SD for sure.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)

No, not really. I think I thought an MSD wouldn't fit it with my larger dolls but they do fine. I got into the hobby due to my interest in art dolls which are larger, closer to real scale so I would prefer them at larger sizes.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?

How about a ratio? I would like 1:2 doll but something large is cool. But I want it to something that looks aesthetically interesting so to me so the Lusion's are out because they look like a "doll" and not a "BJD". I remember D-Storic had a 1:1 doll but that was $5000 I think and it was also a little "too real" for me. I am very interested in Circus Kane's Stadnik which is 82cm, looks interesting (reminds me of Bellmer's dolls) so I think that would be awesome.

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?

I would prefer all dolls to be available in a 70cm version or 80cm. Sort of the way that FL's Chloe is available in a 65cm version.

15. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked? I'm 5'8", I have a Dollshe Hound and Doll Chateau Agatha. My height didn't play into my choice for dolls, but I am glad that I'm a bit on the tall side (at least for my area). My dolls sit very comfortably on my lap without making me feel small or big in comparison. They're good sizes!

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two? Very large SD! They're more comfortable for me overall.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?) I only have the two different sizes...I don't think there's a difference between what I do with the two of them. Maybe in the future when I've got more BJDs...

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres? 70 cm

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size? I'm not sure there are any sculpts I wish were different sizes. I think I'm good with the ones I'd like to get in the future being the size they are normally. :)

16. I am 5 feet, seven inches tall. I have two SDs and a tiny, a tiny on the way, and am considering an MSD. My size did not affect my doll choices, but I do different things with different dolls. I cuddle with my SDs and take pictures and do pretty much everything with them. My tiny is primarily for pictures. If I had an MSD, she might sit in my lap and would be used for pictures. All of my dolls are on display in my house. They sit nicely on a purple chair in my room. I would much rather have a really big doll than a really small one, I think. I find my 60cm SDs to be a really nice size, so I guess that's my perfect size? I have yet to meet a BJD that I didn't like, so I don't think I'm too terribly picky.

17. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
I am 5'5" and consider myself to be a pretty average height. I have all SDs, ranging from 63 cm to 72 cm. My height never played a factor in which dolls I bought.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
Large SDs all day long!

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby?
I don't think I would do anything differently if I had smaller (or even larger) dolls.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
Probably 65 cm and above, I don't have an exact preference.

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
None, I guess! :)

18. I'm 173cm (about 5'8) and my doll is a 42cm Luts Kid Delf Darae ^_^ I don't really think my height affects how I choose my dolls, but I do have a preference for larger dolls over tinies (though I looooove Yosd size dolls). My next doll will be larger (I plan on buying a F60 if Fairyland re-releases them!) but that's simply because of her character ^_^ good question!

19. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
I'm 1,48 cm... So, I'm pretty much of a small person but even this I don't really mind if my dolls are half my height or so so :) And I like big ones :sweat it may be because our height difference is not that big and because most of them look way more mature but I don't really know

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
A very large SD, as I said I like big dolls <3 I can't with tinies, they're beautiful but the size is not for me :(

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
Well, as I'm not that tall it may be difficult from time to time to handle with my SD guys, but I still enjoy it a lot <3

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
60 - 70 cm :)

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
I love my MSD but I wish he was bigger sometimes, he's a Migidoll Mir. But that's the reason why I thought of buying an 'adult version' of him in SD size of course which will be a Migidoll Ryu. So I don't really wish any sculpt in other size by the moment

20. 1. How tall are you and what sizes of BJDs do you have? Did your height factor into which dolls you picked?
I am 5 feet 4 inches and I just ordered an MSD. Height had nothing to do with it.

2. Would you have a very small tiny or a very large SD if you had to chose between the two?
Very large SD. SD was the original size that I am drawn to and still am, I just wish for different sculpts in that size.

3. How do you think the specific sizes of doll affect how you participate in and enjoy the hobby? (Ie, does what you do with your dolls change depending upon size?)
I have heard from people that photographing and posing is easier with the smaller dolls where sewing for clothing can be easier for the larger dolls. I think it all depends. Personally I can definitely see both of those being true for me.

4. What is your idea of a perfect sized BJD in exact centimetres?
60cm. Thought I may change my mind once my MSD comes :P

5. Which sculpts do you wish came in a different size?
Practically all of the Kid delf and Minifee scults. I really love the larger eyed sculpts with the MSD's. I find the SD's can look too realistic for my taste.
