Tan bjds!

Mar 12, 2014

    1. I adore tan dolls, and I own six - four in SD size, and two MSDs. I'd definitely own many more if I could afford to (and if companies would make them more readily available!)

So far, five of the six were 'Free Choice' dolls - reissues of past LE dolls, only available in tan for a short period of time. The other was just a 'regular' LE released in tan. I already have 3-4 SDs I want in tan (Soom's Onyx, Vesuvia, Arkose and IO), and a mass of MSDs (all the Rosette School of Doll sculpts other than Marguerite and Delilah, the two I already have), and I'm sure more dolls will be released in future that I'll love in tan as well!

    2. I much prefer tan and darker dolls in general, though they always seem hardest to fine, at least in the sculpts I want :( but fair skinned/"NS" is just so common in the doll world, I love seeing skin tone variations

    3. I really love tan skin. The main reason I used to own a CP Tan Lishe wasn't because I loved the sculpt so much, but because her colour was so absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, I couldn't get used to her face sculpt, so I had to let her go.
Now I own a Iplehouse RS Kamau. Real skin might not be 'true' tan, but the darker tone is just so warm, I'd love to get more dolls in this colour!

    4. Well, I will soon have three tan dolls, one of which I dyed... Personally, I actually tend to like darker, deeper, richer tans, if I'm lusting after a tan doll, but these three don't really fit those criteria, which is interesting. My dyed doll is my Soom TG hybrid (all Soom, but different MDs) who is made of parts that used to be WS and snow blue, and she's a kind of rich, orange-ish tan, but she's not terribly dark and because it was my first dye job he skin isn't terribly even. My other tan doll who is at least partially home already is my floating Dollclans Vezeto head. I got him from the person who won the Philippines charity raffle, and he supposedly will match Spiritdoll tan, so I'm planning to get him a tan Spiritdoll Proud body... But the tan is rather light, kinda... chocolate milk color? But warmer in tone. It's very beautiful and looks nice and brown next to my other dolls, but on his own, most people who are not familiar with BJDs seem to not realize he is supposed to be TAN. Still, I'm happy I got the chance to get him in tan as opposed to NS! He's so gorgeous TT~TT Anyway, the third tan doll is my incoming Realpuki Aki, because I kept waffling over whether or not to get my NS Realpuki Roro a companion since I wasn't 100% in love with any of the other sculpts, but when they released the tan option, (and because of the event it wouldn't cost any extra to make Pukipuki and Realpuki orders tan), I knew I had to get another one. I will actually be sanding my Aki's fangs off and possibly opening the tops on his eyes a bit, but then he will be perfect! I've only seen the Fairyland tan in person once, and I remember it being not the darkest tan either, again, more of a chocolate milk color than a straight up chocolate color, but that's just fine with me. Personally, my favorite tans, though I don't currently want any specific dolls in them, are Aprilstory, Migidoll (the new one, not the old Volks-matching one), and Iplehouse's Light Brown. Mmmm, they look so RICH and CHOCOLATEY, in the non-edible kind of delicious way! I guess Crobidoll has a nice deep tan too, but I don't think I'll ever have any Crobis...

    5. My first doll is tan, a Soom Mini Gem purchased as a X-mas kit when there was no tan surcharge. My next three are all different shades of NS- Banji is more yellow-y, Fairyland is pink-y, and DIM is pale peach. I await my fifth, a tan Puki Puki from Fairyland. Three of the dolls on my wishlist are there partly because they come in tan!

    6. We're big suckers for tan in our house, which probably makes it sad we have so much "normal" resin. :( Most of the dolls we love don't come in tan. But we did manage to sneak in a Volks Irvin, Iplehouse Evan and Lati Bayer in tan. And I may possibly have another tan guy coming in a trade soon. Finally the tan resin is starting to catch up a little bit here. XD

    7. I like tan dolls and my collection of tan dolls is growing this year - I have two new boys on their way. I'm really excited to get them because my little collection will have more variance.

    8. I love tan skin, and wish every company offered it. I've had several Resinsoul dolls in "coffee", which is a cool-toned light tan and one of the prettiest resin colors out there, in my opinion. I also have a light-tan Impldoll Akasha, and I just got a Lumedoll Bellatrix in "bronze", which is a warm reddish brown:

    9. I like having a variety of colors in my dolls, but as others have noted I have been a bit concerned about problems with some of the darker resins. I was thrilled Friday night to catch a Kaye Wiggs Dark Tan Tobi through the JPop extras sale. I look forward to adding her to my growing collection.

    10. In my opinion it all depends on the doll
Some dolls look amazing in tan =)
      But I prefer white skin

    11. I love tan dolls. The color can look so rich and beautiful. I don't have one yet, but I hope to get a Soom Phonolus in tawny skin in the future :)

    12. It really depends on the doll. Tan does look gorgeous on certain dolls! I'm just wondering what the skin tone looks like when they "yellow" (or how the resin ages for tan dolls)

    13. I feel they are a fad and a bit overrated. I'm not really a fan of tan in the brand I shop for. (fairyland) I would actually like darker shades, I'm looking to buy a dyed doll. I love the super dark skin. Tan just looks too jersey shore for me to get behind, especially on dolls with duckfaces like Mirwen.

    14. Same here, really like the colors. If it had been an option at the time, I would have started with ebony. But it wasn't, so my first was light brown, also nice and very versatile. With dark eyes/hair she looked Eurasian, with lighter colors she looked like she just spent a few weeks sunbathing. The more colors the better, so let's hope dark resins become available more often.

    15. I love tan dolls, but I do get a little worried seeing the extra info about them. Some companies warn they they have seam lines, or that when they yellow, they turn a greenish color *_* Plus, tan dolls (and other darker colors like grey) are always a lot more expensive than pink or white. Is it more difficult to make a tan doll and why?

    16. Dark doll fans: a new incredible one has been created by the oh so talented Lidiya Snul. Check her out on Flickr, but be warned: once there it's hard to let go...

    17. I have two tan dolls. Doll Leaves Another Me Kira and Dollmore Suntan MoMo I adore them. I'd love to have one or two of the tan fairyland sculpts. I really like how it sets them apart from other dolls.

    18. I love the tan dolls. I have one now and plan to get more.

    19. Is there anyone out there with a tan/darker doll, that can solve this spooky greening mystery for us? What does happen to the color in course of time?
(By the way, seam lines were pretty invisible with my light brown Iplehouse)

    20. Though I like tan resin, I don't see myself owning a tan doll. Darkest I would go for is probably Iplehouse's real skin.
