Tan bjds!

Mar 12, 2014

    1. I LOVE tan skin! I know that Dollzone does a darker tan on request (I think it's them) and it looks gorgeous! I actually own a tan MNF Celine and her skin is so pretty...
She's the only tan doll I have and the only one I see having for right now. I'm not seeing any other dolls I like that would be tan skin material to me...except Iplehouse's JiD Daniel, I want him in special real skin.

    2. I only have one tan doll, an SD13 F-21 in sunlight skin. I love his skin tone; he looks like he needs to be hanging out on a beach. I really like Island Doll tans as well. Something about the semi translucent Island Doll resin looks great in tan :D

    3. I bit the bullet and bought my Migidoll Ryu because I couldn't resist the tan, the limited time event scared me into doing it when I know I would have quibbled and backed out otherwise! Though I'll be honest, he wasn't as dark when he arrived as I expected him to be.
Tan dolls generally make dolls stand out, I think it's a lovely tone. I find white skin dolls too ghostly and sickly looking.

    4. I love tan also! Most because it does not get yellow :)

    5. I have two tan Yos, also my only full dolls, I really like the FantasyDoll tan skin of my Ono but BBB light tan looked a bit zombie-ish until I got some blush on my March. Did that, now it looks great, I'm very happy with them both! Tan skin was a requirement for their characters, I'm glad I stuck with that. :)

    6. I LOVE tan dolls! They are my favorites though I don't have as many of them as I'd like. (Compared to my collection as a whole that is.) If a doll comes in tan, I'll always choose that color for it. The different shades are great & they seem to retain color better than white or normal skin resin. I guess I just like diversity in my gang.

    7. Most doll companies are switching to "environmental" resin (some call it "French") to make their tan doll, because it reduces the sanding marks.

    8. I would love a tan or brown bjd,I have a few brown skinned OCs. They're more costly than light skinned dolls but I plan on getting one later on

    9. I am absolutely in love with Black Camine from Dream of Doll, but they haven't released that version in ages, so I can do nothing but stare at the pretty steampunk pictures. :( I was anticipating new Black version dolls for the spring, and I was really really hoping for a return to Black Shall, Lahoo, or Camine. Although Black Code 02 is a darling, he's just not the type I'm looking for. And Black Tahlia....ehhhh...she doesn't look realistic to me. Even Ony would've been better. :|

    10. To tell the truth I HATE tan skin. I got Kamau from Iplehouse that came out in 2009 (i think) he has turnd GREEN in his face brest and arms - everywhere his body was not covered with cloths. I spent like more than 1200$ on that doll inclueding shipping and taxes and he is ruined! i dont suppose he is worth anything at all now....
ofcourse he was on display. Why else have doll if you cant display them? Exposed to sunlight?... well that is very hard to avoid, if you dont live in a bunker! But it only took a few month before he was totally green all over.
This was such a big dissapointment to me that I totally lost interest in BJDs.

So I really want to warn everyone against buying dark colered BJDs...

    11. I wasn't impressed with tan dolls, thought they looked too yellowish, until I saw Souldoll's Emilia when she came out in 2010. I loved her shade and ordered her right away even though I hadn't planned on getting either any tan dolls or any more mini-sized dolls.

Since then I've gotten two more tan dolls, Souldoll's Gana in sandy brown, which is a different shade than Emilia. And Sseiren's Van in copper, which is like a lighter version of Emilia's tan.

    12. I've never owned a tan doll. Honestly, I was intimidated by them for a long time. I'm not planning on buying any more dolls this year, but I've allowed myself one exception for a possible tan release of a sculpt I'm very fond of!

    13. I love tan dolls. I have two RS "Normal" dolls and they're great, but I have plans for tan twins in the future.
      They just photograph so well.

    14. My most recent purchase was a Tan doll! A tan littlefee Ante! I loved seeing her so much that I couldn't resist and got lucky when I found one on DDE. She has this lovely purple undertone, which i think works great with tan skin. I think i'd get another tan skin doll in the future if I have a character for it

    15. I only have one tan doll now, a Pluto Dolls limited Millicent. I love her and haven't had any problems with greening.

I definitely wouldn't mind more tan dolls in the future - a tan Impldoll boy is on my wishlist for now.

    16. My beautiful tan Ringdoll twins. The one on the right is Ash and he is 1 year 4 months older than Evz , he is darker tan but not green or yellowed at all. Their joints are sanded, no sign of them anywhere. I would buy another tan Ringdoll at the drop of enough cash to do so.

Below I have these three tans to show, I bought the Dikadoll(2) tan jointed hands but they are really not the right color for the Ringdoll (1) and the wrist is huge in comparison too. I did carve into the Dikadoll wrist to make it smaller and the tan coloring is consistant all the way down. It is the same color as the untouched parts, even after carving and sanding.
The head cap is a pale tan Dollshe (3). It is much darker than the Ringdoll and very different from the Dikadoll tan and the Dollshe gate sanding shows badly.

    17. I am more of a fan of white and pale BJD's but some tans are really nice I plan on getting a few tanned dolls even though I would prefer the white and pale resins the tan just suits the characters more that I am creating

(Left to right: light brown, ebony, light brown, real skin)

Here are my Iplehouse real skin, light brown, and ebony dolls. I have a peach gold girl but not a group shot with her. My iple resin is very stable. Adia is the ebony girl and she's older than all the others. Iple's real skin had trouble a long time ago. Leda (real skin) and the rest have been outside and stay in a cabinet with glass doors for display.

    19. I have just bought my first tan doll on the secondary market. The Fairyland tan is such a beautiful colour and has completely won me over. I personally would not choose to put bright reds and dark colours on my fairskin bjd but the richer colour of the tan works really well with the berry reds and darker colours and has definitely livened up my colour palette.

    20. I really like tan dolls a lot.
