Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Tan bjds!

Mar 12, 2014

    1. They're nice to admire, and I like how they look, but I don't see myself owning one. Especially after reading horror stories of tanned resin turning green. *_*

    2. I don't like tan BJDs. They look very strange for me:XD:

    3. I adore them, they're so gorgeous and elegant! :D

    4. I really like them! Having tan as an option opens up more possibilities and variety for dolls! Hopefully my second doll will be in Luts' Brown Skin :)

    5. I love tan dolls. I have several of them from different companies.

    6. I don't think I'd ever buy a tan doll (with tan resin that is), they look really beautiful but there are too many disadvantages for me... Can't sand/mod really, potential of discolouration...

I would like to try dyeing a doll tan someday, though! :D

    7. I love my Tawny skinned doll. She's so pretty and I having her next to my big paler boy makes it so much more noticeable.

    8. I love tan skin dolls! They are so beautiful. I don't know if I prefer them but I love to look at them. Three of my dolls have tan skin and I plan on buying more. Hehe.

    9. I love, love, love tan skin dolls! I own two, with another one on the way. :) I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, where I could not see myself owning any white skin dolls (the ONLY exception being a SOOM Clozel). I do like NS though. Tan so far, has always fit with the ideas I have had for my dolls. So it has always just worked out perfectly for me!

    10. I'd appreciate seeing photos if anyone has any of their discolored tan dolls. I would like to buy one, but it's discouraging to think that one may turn green within a few years. Was that just an issue with earlier dolls or just specific companies?

    11. I love tan skin! I just knew, even though there are some disadvantages, that I had to have a real skin brown doll for my first one. I just love her coloring.

    12. If dolls hide from the sun is the color will not change.

    13. I would love to own a tan CP Lishe some day if I could afford her. I'm so in love with her, don't care even if her tan turn green.

    14. I haven't seen any 'green' tan doll pictures so is this an urban legend or something? I want to see someone's green/tan dolls. Actually I think it might be lovely like a wood elf or something.

    15. I second this. I haven't seen or heard anything like this before?

I really love tan bjds, I wish I saw more photos of them around. My wallet REALLY in trouble because Momotree just restocked Tan Lucy!!

    16. Maybe it was just when tan dolls were first being made and they didn't know it could happen, or didn't know how to fix it. It sounds like most companies have figured out how to make a fairly stable color now.

I think when Fairyland has another tan event I'll be ordering a Celine and once she arrives selling the NS Celine that I'm currently waiting on. I missed out on the first event by a little over a month, but I'm kind of glad that I did. It gave me time to see owner pics and decide on who I wanted in tan, and it'll give me time to hear feedback from the owners of Fairyland's first tan line to see how the color goes.

    17. I LOVE tanned dolls. I have dark resin dolls and dolls that I tanned myself. Its great that the hobby is moving toward having more ethnically diverse dolls available, it makes for so many more character options :)

    18. I love my lightly tanned DZ Hal, and his lightness was actually a mistake by the company- he was supposed to be darker (I bought him second hand, so I knew what I was getting into). Now I've found I want even more dolls of different resin tones, to the point where I'd prefer not to have too many dolls of the same color because I'd want the variety. Of course, now that I've seen pictures of DollZone's older tan I'm in love with that too- just as it turns out they are changing to environmental resin! D: This makes things so much harder...

    19. Oh man would I love a tan doll! But since I only make dolls of characters I have I dunno if I'm gonna be able to get a tan doll any time soon (or at all :c). The only character I have that I really would love in tan skin is being shelled in a sculpt from a company that doesn't offer tan skin :( I'm getting him in normal yellow, but it's just not the same. Still a nice colour, though c:

    20. Not an urban legend, but it's not really something people should let scare them away from tans anymore, at least with the well established companies. Here is one of the main threads that started the whole fear of greening thing. Note that it's from 2006, so companies have had 8+ years to create better formulas. There are other mentions in that thread of different company tans going green but also ones that didn't have any issues. Then Iplehouse's first batches of real skin had some greening problems, but that was the only time it was really an issue I think. I honestly can't remember hearing about any big cases since and it's not uncommon for companies to mix some sort of UV protection into the resin now.

There's still the possibility of a tan doll getting a green tint over time due to how they age (exactly how white and normal dolls can start looking yellow), but I have Iplehouse real skin and light brown from 2010, two Soom bronze from 2011, and a Luts tan from 2013 that are fine. It shouldn't be a problem if you're not exposing them to sunlight frequently.
