Tan bjds!

Mar 12, 2014

    1. I really like tan skin on ball-jointed dolls but they never seem to work out for me. For my own characters I much prefer natural-looking skin. White skin is just a little too pale for me so I tend to shy away from it. Who knows though, I might have a beautiful tan or white doll in the future.

    2. Unless we are talking about the brick-orange colour that is offered by one company or another, most tan colors for bjds look like natural skin...

    3. I'm not too big on tan dolls. Some can look very pretty whereas some don't really catch my interest at all. But, that's probably mainly due to the fact of how the sculpt is. I do not own any tan BJDs yet and I do not really plan to unless there is a fantasy BJD that looks amazing tan. Then maybe, possibly. x3

    4. Tan skin is gorgeous! I like it much more then light skin. My next girl must be in tan.

    5. They are so so lovely! I'd especially like to get a Crobidoll yo-sd in thei tan skin color one day . I love how rich their color looks and I think a pair of lovely green eyes would just pop against a tan skin and dark hair ! The only pity for me is that tan skin is usually more expensive and most times I can't afford it . But i will , one day , own at least 2 tan bjds and at leas one of them shall be dark-tan:D . One can dream, right?

    6. I love tan dolls I wouldn't own one I would never let it see daylight I'd be scared o him/her yellowing

    7. About a week ago we visited Mint On Card and then walked around Traverse City (MI).

This is my tan skin MNF Chloe with no face up yet. I had her out in the bright sunshine taking pictures, but I wasn't afraid of resin problems.

She's even in high heeled feet wearing flats and she stood solid :)

    8. Tan resin is great to photograph and there are so many options from a hint of caramel to a really dark chocolate color. One of my favorites is Iplehouse Special Real as it looks really natural.

      Warning topless boy!!!

    9. as a black girl I'd love to own a tan doll (even though the use of the word tan bothers me...I wish FL do another MNF tan event!) However because I'm black I'm VERY PICKY about the tan, iplehouse & dollshe have lovely tans but sadly I don't like their dolls that much...most tan dolls i've seen are either too light (almost NS) or too orangey :P one day I'll find the perfect tan doll

    10. I love tan bjds, they always look amazing but I have never had the opportunity to own one...hopefully one day^^

    11. I loooooooove tan BJDs so much. Out of my 7 BJDs, 5 are tan. :O

They are so much easier to photograph because the skin doesn't wash out so easy and they just look amazing all the time. I adore them!

    12. I have 12 tan or realskin guys here. They're so wonderful. :aheartbea

Iplehouse's colored resins are amazing. And they were even more amazing before just this year when they changed their resin formulas. ;; I can't really truly pick a favorite edition (every batch is slightly different)... but it might be Luo the Strongman from the early Noctarcana Circus series in 2009. His skin looks so real in photographs, it looks like he'd be warm to the touch.

(Either that, or the 2007 release of Tan Lion, which was Iples' second-ever tan doll... They got it SO right on just their second try!)

    13. I like some factories' tan dolls when I see them on their catalogue, and I find some of them really pretty, but for some reason, I do not bond much with them when they are in my hands.
The same goes for white skin dolls. They look so delicate and cute on catalogue, but then I see them too snow-white when I have them in my hands. So, natural skin is what is really nice for me.

    14. I used to be a normal skin only person, until I finally own a tawny skin Chalco from Soom, I love how natural and lovely tawny skin looks in photos, so now I had another tan doll from RSdoll whom is much darker but stilll lovely! I also like the brown skin that luts is offering as well! White skin is not for me because my country's climate and it yellow much faster.

Here's a photo of my Chalco

    15. I'm personally a big fan of the recent batches I've seen of Luts tan skin. I need me some tan delf boys asap because wow, that skin colour makes just about every sculpt look fantastic. As an owner of all NS dolls, I find myself wanting to explore other resin possibilities for the fun of experimentation!

    16. I think some company's normal skin is too pale.

I prefer tan. It's easier to photograph. I have three tan dolls, one gray dolls, and three normal skin dolls (well, three heads and two bodies).

And the yellowing is not really that bad minus a few batches from certain companies that turn green.

I've taken my Dollzone tan doll everywhere and he gets sunlight and everything and his yellowing is quite minimal and not an ugly color. He is like 6 years old now.

I want to get another tan doll next. @_@

    17. For years I couldn't see the appeal in tan dolls. More expensive plus I'm not a fan of actually tan skin on most people. Starting a month ago I suddenly developed a love of tan skin dolls, although not all sculpts. Seems I like my boys tan and the not so delicate looking girls. :) Can't figure out why.

    18. I love my tan dolls a whole lot! Of course I like them in any color but even so~ xP I think some sculpts have the potential to look so gorgeous in darker tones!

    19. Tan bjds will be the death of my wallet and I, I swear. :| I currently have none, but plan to get an Impldoll Tony in their Special Tan Skin (Anti-UV) to shell one of my OCs who holds a very special place in my heart and means the world to me. I'm counting down the days, and have given myself the deadline of Christmas to get him, and you can be rest assured when he arrives I will be spamming all of the internet with ten thousand pictures the moment his faceup is done and he is presentable :P

I would also love love loooove to get a tan SD girl, preferably with elf ears, for a very neat character design I would like to do! If Fairyland had a tan option for their Feeple65 Chloe, she'd be perfect. /wistful sigh

    20. I have the tan color Soom Ignim. I can't imagine her in any other tone. She is gorgeous in gold!
