1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Tattoo question. What does a pentagram inside a cross represent?

Jun 6, 2015

    1. In Christian symbology, the pentagram (when angled with one point upwards and two downwards) is a symbol of Christ. I haven't yet seen it combined with a cross myself, but the combination seems logical.

    2. It could also refer to what Pagans call a "Christian Witch." Not very common (and IMO not very consistent theologically), but they're out there.

If both cross and pentagram are upside-down, OTOH, it could represent Satanism.

    3. @ Little Lost Pixie and cleverLC: Thank you very much for responding. I have edited my opening post to include a link to a photo of the tattoo I am referring to, if you care to take a look.

    4. Oh wow, that is a nice tattoo. And the pentagram is upside down too. Interesting design to put them together. Most people would think that it wouldn't work, but I know that some use the upside down pentagram in witchcraft too.

Here is some info on the pentagram. It says that the upside down pentagram is used in some traditional groups as second or third degree status.

    5. @ ninjalovergirl: Thank you for the link. Have not visited the site yet. Perhaps it was a random design by the artist (unknown). That pentagram does give it a dark side vibe, though.

    6. Judging by the rest of the cross, I think it was just a aesthetic choice there - I'm pretty familiar with a lot of different kinds of symbols, and I don't think I've ever seen this sort of design before. It could have some vague theological meanings, but I'm pretty sure it was just to give it more of a Gothic fashion look.

    7. @ Mayhem: Thank you very much for your thoughts on this. The rest of the design aside, what does this particular version of the pentagram usually symbolise?

    8. It depends on where you're coming from, I think. In contemporary Christian and similar cultures, it's a symbol of the Devil if it has one point going downwards (supposedly making something vaguely like a goat's head), and can represent the triumph of evil over good. I'd suggest checking out the Wikipedia page on it, but I think the short version of it is that really a pentagram symbolises whatever the maker or the viewer of it says it does.

    9. my boyfriend says " nothing that I know of, Saint Patrick adapted rune symbols into church symbols, so maybe its an old celtic crosses has pentagrams."
he also said "Massonic Woman's group uses a reverse Pentagram, the cross shown resembles a Sword, and the pentagram in the center. could be related to either of those" or just aesthetic as said above.

    10. @ Mayhem and kpatillo: Thank you both very much. From the replies posted so far, it would seem that this particular tattoo is highly subjective art that is open to interpretation and not indisputably a symbol of good or bad forces. Ooooo, listen to me getting all deep! Leaving the Star Wars zone right now!

    11. As this has nothing to do with dolls, this thread is being closed.
