Tattoos: just you, just your dolls, or both?

I definitely want tattoos later on in life. Not so sure about my dolls though. My one doll currently doesn't have any, but future dolls might. Haven't really planned that far in advance yet.

 

I have a pair of colored angel wings that span across my entire upper back. They are my only tattoo and have a very distinct meaning to them. I don't plan on getting anymore in the near future, not that I'm opposed to the idea, but there isn't anything else that has strong enough meaning to me that I want it permanently put on my body : / I have no plans to get any of my dolls tattooed. None of their characters suit the idea of a tattoo. However, if I did have a character that had tattoos as part of their back story, I think it would be neat to have it done.

 

I have five tattoos, but my dolls don't have any. : D They are usually very "over clothed" so I think even if they had tattoos, they would not be seen.

 

I wouldn't give my dolls tattoos and i don't have any myself, although i have thought about getting one before.

 

I've got 2 tattoos but I don't know whether this influences my opinion on doll-tattoos.
I'll definitely do it if it fits the dolls character, plus you've got the advantage that with dolls tattoos won't stay permanent

 

I have a tattoo, with plans of getting another tat or two in the coming months. However, none of my dolls have any yet. None of mines seem like their styles fit with tattoos. Actually, maybe one of them does, but the others don't. However, I plan on having an edgier looking one at some point with tats and piercings, I'm really excited for that.

 

I have a tattoo, and I'm really open to the idea of dolls having them. If it fits the aesthetic of the character, I think it's a wonderful thing

 

I originally voted that neither me or my dolls have tattoos, and while this is still true, I'm beginning to consider getting a couple of tattoos. I have two dolls planned, that I want tattoos for, but I haven't decided on what it should be yet.

 

I don't have any tattoos myself, but i love them and plan to give my dolls plenty~ i'm very picky with designs and placement tho xD

 

I have a tattoo (with several more planned) however this isn't the reason I intend to tattoo a few of my dolls, it's because the characters that they are for have tattoos. However there is a possibility that as well as a means to communicate aspects of their personality that some have tattoos because it's what I like.

 

I have a number of small tattoos and have aspirations for many larger, more complicated tattoos. In some ways, I'm living out my fantasy tattoos through my dolls. You can have so many choices that way. So, yeah - I'm definitely tattooing my dolls.

 

I just will do it at my dolls but now I just will do it to one of my wish list dolls and they are henna tattoos (I do myself henna tattoos some times)

 

I think tattoos are really cool, but hesitate on any for myself for several reasons - some of them legitimate, some probably more superficial or juvenile. I could see myself treating a BJD as an atlernate-universe [SIZE=2]version of myse[SIZE=2]lf and decorating her approp[SIZE=2]riately. Ooooh, concept.... ;-)[/SIZE][/SIZE][/SIZE]

 

I have a decent amount of tattoos, plan to get more, and I would like to tat up at least two of my BJDs since their corresponding characters have tattoos as well. I like tattoos a lot so naturally some of my characters have some.

 

I have tattered fairy wings tattooed on my back - I would *love* to have a bjd that had the same tat - or a better version of it Or just some awesome tattoo's in general - I also have multiple piercings and while that wouldn't work for most my characters I don't think at this point, I think piercings on dolls that are done well are awesome.

 

maddieredriddinhood - I adore henna, it's the only dye I will use on myself - I had been wondering how dolls would take to henna...Have you ever done this before? Does it stain just the sealant or go past and into the resin forever? And would that stain spread over time, or could you get crisp lines? If you have any answers to this I would love it! If not, it may be something I have to experiment on a super super cheap doll with lol.

 

I'd imagine it'd be a lot easier and safer to just mix the right color with acrylic paint and do the designs you want on the doll that way. No need to use the real deal on plastic imho, when the right look is all that counts in the end.

It's been 2 years since I last posted in this thread and a few of my dolls have gotten some new tattoos, while I'm still without any myself. Not for much longer though hopefully. Keeping myself busy until then with re-doing what I've done on the boys so far (also giving one or two the super bold blackwork I love but would never get myself, because it just takes up too much space, haha).

 

I have 2 tattoos, but my doll is not getting any since it's not her style. I've seen some gorgeous tattooed dolls though.

 

I've got quite a decent amount of ink on me, but no plans for a tattoo on the one BJD I currently own. It just wouldn't suit her. I think two of the dolls I have in mind in the future might end up with some tattooing, but nothing like my own tattoos in content, style, size or placement--- they're extremely specific to me, and wouldn't make sense on a doll unless she was a doll-version of myself. (Which I have no interest in doing.)
