Gayle: That was amazingly said. I didn't try for Heimdal either because he was WS, but kicked myself afterward because I also loved Hwa Rang. I was very upset at how that was handled. ._. I'm so happy for you that you managed to get your Bermann! It always warms my heart to hear stories like that, and that you could avoid the mess of recent Tensiya releases.

I wish also that this release had had a set price. I know that it was my own stupidity that helped lead me to not winning this Bermann either. The way Anu's note was written I thought that you could offer _any_ amount between those two and it would be considered, not just the top bidders. I should have realized that wasn't very realistic. ^^'

I think blind-draws would have been best. One of the reasons that the Volks one-off drawings or Sei-tenshi don't create drama like this is because they're so fair. They draw your name out of a box for the one-offs, and for Sei-tenshi it's either a random number draw or you play bingo. It has never left me with a sense of 'what could I have done better? Was there more I could do?' like the Bermann releases have. With the CP elf releases, it's just a matter of getting there on time and being fast. Both these methods, I think, would be far better than what has been happening.

 

I have no idea what a Fendi bag is, but none of the other items you mentioned are LIMITED. If people can afford to buy one, they are able to, since they are cotinually produced. You cannot compare a very limited item to something with a (theoretical) unlimited supply.

No, no one has the right to tell people what to buy, and no one particularly has. Certainly people have expressed dissapointment that there are so many winners who already have a Bermann and won again (5/7 already owning at least one) and less first time Bermann owners.

There are more people saying that they don't agree with Tensiya's selling practices, since they seem to be biased in one way or another. Such as the fact Tensiya said they would consider all offers and "Tensiya spokesman", Sabrielle, stated that they only chose winners who bid the maximum. That is a biased selection process right there (even if you excluded how she chose from those 2000$ bids).

I've been pondering the strange way this offering went, and see that the "application" and the statement about the highest bid not necessarily being the winning one, was an outright statement that it would not be a lottery process at all. it would be a selection process.

the questions in the application also indicated the selection would be slanted. at least to the degree that anyone foolish enough to say Yes to the will you sell him before his arrival part is concerned.

it seems obvious that Tensiya didn't believe 11 people would bid the top allowed amount. I thought this was naive and bid accordingly.

let's think about that $2000 a moment, please. if Anu wanted, she could put these lovely boys on YJ and make three times what she asks from us. no complaints, no dozens of emails afterwards.

if we create enough fuss, perhaps Luis Doberman will be even more out of reach.

Il Milione is not just a doll, but an entire wardrobe with accessories that Anu offered us for less than a naked Bermann would get on Ebay. or even if sold privately from friend to friend most likely.

Anu's heart is in these boys. she is finding them homes. not making business decisions. whether this is "right" or "wrong" seems beside the point. it's not illegal or immoral. it goes back to kittyaz' point about artists.

let's not forget that for many Asians, the dolls have spirits. we do seem to be forgetting the dolls themselves. are we just collecting or do we truly believe there is magic involved? is it lip service when you say your doll has a personality? or, do you believe Kim ki Young's energy and Anu's creative spirit embue these Bermanns with life?

well, I'm just trying to make sense of it. not knowing any more than the rest of you, except that Anu has said many times that it breaks her heart to see her boys sold.

Tensiya has made some questionable choices how to handle things in the past - like the Heimdal fiasco. but, they were decisions based on emotions.

from that, we can see that Anu is an artist foremost and decided this time to use a more unconventional approach to choosing winners. what that method was was might never be known and I suspect it was accompanied by frustration, tears and a sense of surrealism.

if there were 1,000 (or thereabouts) entries/bids, it must have totally overwhelmed any system in place. it's extraordinary.

I know this is an old point here, past tense and all that, but I really feel what she did
for that sale was the right thing to do considering so many people got screwed on
that server blowup on the prior order in the first place. No one expected that to
happen, it wasn't Anu's fault, and in her position operating a business with a whole
bunch of upset customers at that time, she did the right thing taking responsibility
and bending over backwards to appease and satisfy those angry customers. I think she
deserved HUGE kudos over that, and I even lost out on it, but I was impressed.

*Finished the last few pages* My opinion is ... I do NOT agree with the way how Tensiya sell Bermanns since they abandon the web system. Emails or Bids are all possible to be biased. If it is the e-shop system, I m not as fast as others and lose my chance, I m ok with it. The methods Tensiya uses cannot avoid speculations on the possibilities of them being biased...of coz if u dun trust the Co , dun buy from them ... Anyway, I reli like Bermann , and Tensiya is the only shop selling them , so...what can I do about it?

I think in America you can choose to sell to whomever you choose, and can do it in any biased fashion you choose. I t may be unscrupulous, but it is not illegal.
( I do agree on the majority of your other points though)

Guys can I ask you something, it's a bit off-topic but since you know so much about Bermanns I'm sure you can help me!

I've been in love with Bermann Heimdall for such a long time but it was far too late when I found him 'cause he was sold a long time ago ! I'm thinking if I try to post a WTB thread in the near future (let's say within a year) , how much would it cost me? Around 3000-4000$ and would it be possible to find one ? Would it be better if I tried for the last release of Bemranns and then trade the new one for a Heimdall ( if I was ever lucky enough to find someone who would do like to trade ) !!! I just really looove the Heimdall Bermann , I couldn't find a Bermann that I liked more than him!!! He's the perfect doll for me but at the same time the doll I can't have....

Do you have any idea when the very last release of Bermanns will be? Hope it will take some time 'cause there's no way I can raise that much money in less than 3-4 months, hope they will take much longer for the last release....

 

This is hard to say, honestly, though you're probably looking at the accurate figures. The market could drop or increase however at anytime within a span of a year. I believe at least 2 Heimdals have been resold since their release, so it's definitely possible one will become available in the future.

^^ You could try it? I know I saw a WTT once, I believe it was someone with a Heimdal or Fogg wanting to trade for a Hwarang.

Nobody knows but Tensiya! It could be years from now, or it could be tomorrow. (But hopefully neither of those! ^^) Anu doesn't give much warning when she springs a Bermann release on us, and I imagine Luis Doberman's release is going to be an utter fiasco. ^^;

 

well nobody really knows when the last release will be but it would be safe to say not very soon especially since it is the last release tensiya will have no reason to hurry his release. i haven't seen a heimdall on market for some time now and bermann as general is a tough boy when it comes to finding him on the second market. considering heimdall was released some considerable time ago, probably the owners would have sold him by now if they didn't bond with him, so i'd say they would sell only if they are in a financial trouble or seen something they like better. however, i would suggest keep on saving and if you don't come across a heimdall until the last release you can try your chance on the last DO boys^-^ and good luck!

 

Yeah you are both right, I will try for the last release and hope I'll be lucky enough to to be chosen if they use the same method for ordering like the did with this release! I'll try to ask them if they can estimate the next release and hope the next Bermann will be something like Heimdall 'cause I don't think they would choose me to have one if they knew that I want to trade him for another...ohhh too difficult....Hope the next Bermall will be my type and that I'll have enough money...

 

.......this is tough....I'll do my best, I really want a bermann anyway even if it's not heimdall...bermann's mold is pure perfection ...the perfect doll, but I wouldn't be able to sell my dolls to get one though, each of my dolls is special to me, I have some limited ones that would make me good money but no way I can part with them...and finding a job is no option either ...here in greece things are not that easy with finding job and especially not for me now that I'm starting my last year in university that is really tough ....maybe prostitution would do. work at nights only ...sell my body for a doll ....not good...

 

As for when the Bermann will be released, I actually asked Tensiya to give me an estimate...; They have no idea or even an guess (the assistants, at least), and told me that Il Milione took two and one half years to make.

I also looked into the highest bidding thing, since there seemed to be quite a disturbance going around, and this is what Tensiya told me:

Sorry let me qualify- if an artist decides to sell their art to their friends only- I dont think that is illegal. If you wanted to persecute the artist because none of their friends are white, it would be very difficult to prove. But you would have a case, since that is a federally proven class.
