That excitement you get when your dolly gets back from the face-up artist!!

Sep 21, 2015

    1. Hello lovelies,

I have a doll currently being worked on by Shallow Sleep Aesthetics (@asai_nemuri on IG) and another one on the way to her. I have never had a doll with a faceup, for these are my first two dolls :D

I am so excited to see them with their body blushing and face ups done.

So my questions to you are:
What was the face up you asked for?
Were you excited to see what the final product would be?
When you received your doll, were you happy with the face up or were you disappointed?

    2. Oh gosh I know that feel so well. I only have a couple of dolls with artist faceups (most have company defaults), but two of my faves have them, so..

What was the face up you asked for? In both cases I wanted pink and purple colors, good eyeliner, natural eyebrows, and pink lips. I don't remember if I specified anything else for Alexis lol.

Were you excited to see what the final product would be? Oh GOSH yes. With Alexis I practically vibrated with excitement for the whole month+ the artist had him. Natasha got her faceup all in one day, and I was just DYING to see what she looked like when she was done!

When you received your doll, were you happy with the face up or were you disappointed? I was THRILLED! :D

Of course, I need to share pictures, because duh lol. First is Alexis, whose faceup was done by Invie:

I literally can't imagine better faceups for either of them. They're PERFECT in every single way. :)

Actually, between my girlfriend and myself, we've only really had one disappointment with a faceup.. and that was because my mom decided to give my girlfriend's Dollshe Saint a beard without asking us first lolol. WHOOPS. He's gonna get a new faceup as soon as we can afford it, though.

    3. I usually do my own faceups, but last spring I sent Ben (Migidoll Ell) and Ay (Soom Ender) off to Buff for some work, since neither was turning out how I envisioned after several attempts. Both got faceups and Ben got an eye mod and wig, too. I chose this artist because I have another doll that I got in a trade who has a faceup by her, and it's only one of two heads I own that I didn't wipe and redo immediately upon receiving. That says a lot for me, since I usually don't care to keep existing faceups regardless of skill.

What was the face up you asked for?
For Ay, I requested blushing to help match his body (He's a hybrid whose body I love but the color match was terrible) and 18th Dynasty Ancient Egyptian Pharoah makeup.
For Ben, I requested a faceup and any mods necessary to make him look as much like Justin Bieber a possible.

Were you excited to see what the final product would be?
Although it only took about a month for ALL the work I requested, I was counting the days to seeing them again! I was more excited for Ben, as he was a doll I had been trying to get together for over a year, he'd been through two heads, four bodies, countless faceups and wigs, and still wasn't what I wanted. I couldn't wait for him to finally look 'right'.

When you received your doll, were you happy with the face up or were you disappointed?
THRILLED. I was so happy with both of them! I think I took pictures of Ben every single day for at least a month, I even took him on vacation with me. I'm still mostly doing my own faceups, but if I ever get another one who needs a new faceup that I can't handle, they're going to Buff!

EDIT: Pic of them together (though they'd never actually meet in character!)

    4. I am a bit of a face-up junkie lol. So I will only share a few. I love sending my girls away and seeing what they come back as. I tend to have some crazy ideas and am so thrilled when an artist puts there spin on it.

What was the face up you asked for?
Mirwen: Deer girl with spots and green makeup
Yrie: Chocobo body blushing and face-up
Appini: Thunder cats inspired Wily Kit, and ear blushing
Were you excited to see what the final product would be?
Absolutely. I think it is just as fun as getting a new doll in. It makes them new to me again!
When you received your doll, were you happy with the face up or were you disappointed?
I have been really lucky and have always been happy with the results. Both Andreja and Angeltoast were lovely to work with.

    5. Congratulations, and I definitely know those feelings! I commissioned Angel Toast to do a mod and a face-up. I did a picture of mock face up I wanted on my doll and sent it to her.

Here is the mock face up:

And here is the actual face up:

What was the face up you asked for? I asked her for something seductive and dreamy, but not over whelming.
Were you excited to see what the final product would be? Yes~ I kept checking my email every few hours for a message from her.
When you received your doll, were you happy with the face up or were you disappointed? I was very delighted, she did such a wonderful job on my doll's face up and mod. Though I do wish she added more blush to the cheeks, but I that's an easy fix.

Oh my goodness! Your dollies look so beautiful!

It seems like everyone was happy with the results :D That's fantastic. The girl who is doing my girls is super talented. I am so excited to see how the faceups turn out :)

    7. Thank you so much, MadMisery :) I love them very very much.

Artist faceups can be so much fun! Except for one (my girlfriend's poor, poor bearded Saint mentioned above), they've always turned out better than I thought they would :p

    8. Kurohitsuji that drawing is amazing *0* and the end result is dramatically accurate! I can't wait for this thread to fill up with awesome artists' faceups :aheartbea
