It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. The age of your dolls?

Dec 27, 2012

    1. I can see the association with sculpt sizes to ages, but to me it depends on the body type for the age range then the character for anything specific.

    2. Sculpt and body make all the difference. For example, I have tinies in the 26cm range, but they have adult bodies and faces. I would never consider them infants or toddlers. And I have three Kaye Wiggs sculpts, two MSD and one SD size. The MSD I consider young children, because both their sculpts and their bodies are childish. The SD I consider a young teen, because while her face looks young, she has developed breasts and hips. At the same time, I have two minifee, and I consider them both adults because they are both developed like adults and have older faces.

Then there are my Trinity girls. My Elysia I consider an older teen, maybe sixteen or so, because of her more mature face. But Lumie has a rather childish face so I consider her age to be closer to twelve or thirteen.

My Littlefee I consider to be around four or five years, and my Kid Delf twins are around twelve. Whereas my other Kid Delf is sort of immortal so has no set age.

It really all depends on the character. :)

    3. My eldest doll is around 4-5 years. He is yosd size and came from BG Doll, which is a Chinese small brand. Even though he turns yellow right now, I still love him the best. Cause he standed with me for that long years, and even supported me went through some bad things.

    4. I go by the facial sculpt and body type.

My two LTF girls are about 5 years old, and my MNFs are from about 18 for Mimi and Nina, to about 20 for Coco.

    5. I can't really say yet, as my bjds have yet to arrived, but even though they're 41cm I'd say perhaps in their late teens or early twenties. Size doesn't play such a big part- it's how they look, the face-up and clothes that weigh the most.

    6. I have an Aod Juli she is an SD doll I haven't quite gotten an age for her, but I'm thinking between 21-25.

    7. To me it's not the size, it's the face and body shape that determine the age.
I've got two minifees right now. Even if 1/4 sized dolls are often viewed as children, to me their body is not childish and their proportions don't even work as realistic children next to an SD doll. So mine are teenagers around 15-16.
But I used to have an SD doll that was also a teenager. So they're about the same age, but wildly different in sizes and proportions. Solution: they don't belong in the same story / don't photograph them together! :-D

    8. Same as many here, hard to tell an age by size, all depend of face and body to me.

My Chiron is supposed to be 27, my Amber 22 and my DZ cat something around early thirties.

    9. My Doll Leaves Maya, Eisai is 13-14. My characters ages range from like 7 to 27(hopefully my future dollshe saint)
But yea I really don't think sculpt size matters! Like Iplehouse JID's look so mature for that size.

    10. Most of my dolls are some form of supernatural creature or other non-human. My four Soom SuperGems are demi-gods. I have a family of half-fae vampires an AS Charm who is an adult, 2 MNF who are tweens ( the Hobbity version, somewhere between adolescence and true adult)and a PKF, who might be the oldest, they haven't told me. My DZ Yuu and Mo are weres, my Yuu is older than my Mo. My DZ Hid and RD Shao are AS Lucifer and FPL Anu are Infernal/Celestial....maybe. My Soom teenies are all sprites; my Pipos Cheshire is the Cheshire Cat; my LTF Shiwoo and 5Star Aiden are definitely children, though demonic. Then there are the Autobots. And the Jellicle Cats.
The only human character I have is based on one of my favorite DnD characters I've ever played and is an Illusionist; thus can look any age she wants; but is somewhere between adolescence and death.

I guess I determine age/maturity by how the sculpt looks.

    11. What's interesting for me is that how old a particular doll looks depends on which doll they're sitting next to at the time. They can look older or younger - depending. But mostly my bigger dolls - look like teens or young adults.

    12. Ro is 28 and Berwyn is a newborn, technically, but developmentally she's kind of like a precocious 2 year old.

    13. Well I have three elves, so they're ageless, really. My KDF has the newer body with slightly bigger breasts, and a sweet, youthful face. She looks about 12, but she's an elf so is ageless. My complete Angel Elf Soo is on the Delf girl body, so looks like a young teen, but again, elf, ageless. My Leeke Sweet is 4. My Delf Miyu is 17. My Leeke Noella is undecided, because I don't like her body. Her face is young, but her body doesn't match her face. My MNF Liria is 22. She definitely has the most mature body of the dolls I have.

    14. Most of my dolls are in between 18-30 years old. I don't care so much about the height they are when picking their ages, but how old they look or can pretend to look. For example my doll Ezekiel looks 18, but he is actually 23 because he is supposed to look younger than he is. My other doll Ethan is 25 and he looks his age, so I picked that number based in how old the sculpt looked and if it could pass for that age.

    15. I haven't really thought about age when it comes to my dolls. They just are what they are. I've seen people using young looking MSD's in situations that aren't suited for children, but I characterize the doll as whatever age fits into their personality traits, so it doesn't seem awkward to me. Your dolls are whatever age they are, I wouldn't get too caught up on height unless you're planning on putting them in stories with bigger or smaller dolls.

    16. I see my MSDs as young adults or adults, which doesn't sit well with some people in my immediate community but you know what, who cares, that's how I think it is.
