The Deciding Factor--What are you picky about?

Feb 1, 2009

    1. Wide mouths = turnoff.
      Amazing noses (that really differs from mold to mold for me, it's hard to explain but in my mind I can tell if a nose looks like it really belongs on that face, so to speak. XD) = YAY
      Teeth = it depends. A little teeth can be cute, but for me if they show from every angle and aren't subtle, then no.

    2. i think the two main things i look for in a dolls is

      1.great face up (i cant do them myself yet, and as of right now im at the stage where i want them all to come home with a face up. even if i plan to send them off soon to have it done the way i want)

      2. great lips. i've seen alot of dolls i would like but i dont consider getting because i dont like the lips. (i love the squishy lips on dolls like topaz/amber/heliot and i love the big longer lips like on sabik/dia/sard but there are dolls that have very similar lips that i think are just a little to squished for my taste's like vensuvia's.)

    3. Noses. I have a real thing about noses. I like them to be realistic rather than anime-type long and pointed :sweat So dolls like El i will never, ever own

    4. I find myself picky mostly on mouths. I perfer small to medium, but mostly small. And I just don't care for huge noses. I'm a bit picky about faces and I perfer rounder ones but it's not as big of an issue as the mouth.

    5. This would be perfect if it weren't for... the size.

      Example: She would make a perfect match to this character... if they were the same size.

      I am picky about the sizes of my characters being in realistic relation to each other. Sanyu is MSD, so Gael HAS to be MSD. Also, whenever I get Delaney, who will be a LittleFee, her older sister HAS to be an MSD so they don't have some tremendous height difference that doesn't make real sense.

      So yeah, the SIZE of the doll is my deciding factor.

    6. I'm so picky, I don't even know what I'm picky about! Seriously. XD The whole face must be like...perfect. The eyes absolutely cannot be closed! I like my eyes to be fully open and childish looking. ^^ I also like small/medium noses, and a neutral/semi-happy expression. I really don't like 'mature' looking dolls. I like my dolls to look childish, which is odd, because I mostly am drawn to SD dolls! Though don't get me wrong, the mature looking dolls are nice looking...just not what I'm into. Skin color is also a big factor (wow that sounds racist...). But like, I don't like those pure white looking dolls. o_0; I like a natural skin looking color, like peachy of tan. Because really, how many snow white people do you know? xD No one is pure white! I don't care how pale you are, you are not pure paper white. =w=;

      Size is a big factor too. I do not like dolls over the 60-65 CM range. I also do not like dolls under MSD size...unless they're those anthropomorphic BJDs...like Bao. ^^; Though it would be awesome to have an SD sized Bao!

      As for face ups, I won't even touch that because I'm so insanely picky with face ups. I do not like acrylic face ups that much...it must be pastel. The only acrylic things I like are eyelashes and eyeliner sort of thing. Everything else must be in pastel! I don't really like the solidness of acrylic.

      Though because I'm so picky...there's only about 5/6 dolls total that I truly want, out of like...thousands! o_0;

    7. It depends on the Mold...

      Usually, the deciding factor for me when i'm trying to decide between two molds is the Owner Factor...
      I mean, I research [Usually here or in DA] the mold i'm interested, but from owners

      This usually gives me a perspective of the potential of the mold, since I'm not that experienced with figuring out by myself...

    8. Their expression.
      I am very picky and will be turned off a doll if I see the nose too large or pointed in profile and it doesn't fit the look I am going for, or if the eyes are too large and wide. I tend to go for the grumpy look or the smirking look- something with attitude, whether its 'back off' or 'I'm up to no good'. Sweet, innocent faces don't generally do it for me. For example, I love how grumpy the DM Pado looks (at least he looks grumpy to me), and how mischievous the Leekeworld's Mint's narrowed eyes make her look. I guess mouths and eyes are what I look at the most then.

      Also, size matters. The character's have the be in relation to each other, which is why some of the larger dolls I love (like Chiron) I probably would never get, and the same goes with most of the small ones (like a Puki).

      Those are the things I generally look for when it comes to planning my doll family.

    9. hi! I'm picky about ears; I like elf ears but not too pointy and not to stick out to far or be too low on the head

    10. I've really taken to the moody boys lately, or so I've noticed XD;;; If he's got a bit of a pout, I'm all for it! Anyway...

      Ears :| If the ears look like dinner plates (looks like the detail is just sort of scratched on there), I instantly lose interest. And ears that stick out (unless they're elf ears) ;o; My DoT boy's got some big ears, but they don't stick out too much, so I just cover them with hair! ^ ^

      Big lips... There's full and then there's...awkward @__@ A few dolls look good with big lips; like they belong there. Most of the time, though, they just look so weird that I can't stop looking at their lips! Big/puckered lips; no. u__u Partially open lips tend to look odd to me, too. Works on a few molds, but for the most part...

      And then I'm super picky about bodies, but I could take up a page complaining about bodies XD;;; Ugh, I'm too choosy.

    11. Saggy odd-shaped eyes, fat cheeks, wide down-turning mouths and odd noses. I am very picky. Oh, and overly expressive faces like the Unao "O" and the Unidoll Ark, I am also not a fan of Notdoll dolls.

    12. It's the angles. The mold has to look good from all angles. A doll can have a face I absolutely adore from the front, but as soon as I see the profile and notice sunken in eyes or a droopy nose, I get discouraged. This is probably why it's taken me so long to actually pick a doll to save for :sweat

    13. Nose. I love noses. Noses makes people (and dollies) So the nose must be love, or else not buying.

    14. Nice shaped lips and eyes. ^^;
      I dunno why, but I've sort of interest in lips... ^^;; Don't feel comfortable with un-proportional lips...

    15. Hm... Ok, here it goes :)
      When I see at dolls, It is the body. How are the joints? etc.
      And I look at the eyes and lips aswell, if they have an spesific expression that I'm after I will consider them. Mainly I want neutral face expresions. :)

    16. The eyes:

      They have to be nicely shaped and not too small.

      The nose:

      I like dolls with somewhat strange noses.

      The legs:

      I LOOOOVE long, slim legs.

    17. The deciding factor for me is definately noses! I had fallen head over heels in love with the Soom Heliot teaser pics, but when I could see him better in all his glory, his nose was a little too small for my liking. Namu has a great nose, but just a little too much, and Heliot's was not big enough! Same goes for MNF Marcia, her nose put me off buying her cos it was a little too mousey! ;)

    18. The facial expression on a doll captures my attention first.The eyebrows play an important part for me as well as the lips. I like a little smirk on my dolls. ..in some cases a pout.I get put off by dolls that sad.

    19. The face-up and the face sculpt ^^; im really really picky with face-ups since i cant do them myself (ive never done a face-up and i dont have a doll to practice on ><) for example, Soul Doll's OSU, i love his face sculpt to death but i dont like the face-up SD offers, i like the version at The BJD Store website "Alchemist of the tartar colliery" but hes limited and there are only 20 in the world u_u oh well..

      Im really picky with noses sometimes too...the boy im getting is absolutely perfect..BUT..in the pictures his nose looks a bit....pointy? idk XD im sure once hes infront of me it'll look better :D i cant waaaiitt~~<3

    20. The Face in general.... Some BJDs are so pretty, and I would want them.... but the eyes, the nose or the mouth are just not what I want XP

      It really depends on the doll too...
