The Deciding Factor--What are you picky about?

Feb 1, 2009

    1. Noses weirdly enough. I try not to pay attention to them xD but i also take note of the eyes and face shape.

    2. i agree with this one...I'm really picky when it comes to eyes...
especially when taking pictures...i'd like them to be the ones who can express many expressions even they don't have any...
:sweat sorry not really that good at explainations..

    3. I'm a big fan of lips and eyes. :3 If the eyes are a shape that doesn't seem appealing to me, then that mold is pretty much ruled out for good to me. xD; And if the lips have that adorable little smirk, then I'm like "Awwww~ *wantwant*" XDD

    4. Well, they need to be SD sized or they just aren't coming home, no matter if they were perfect for the character or not.

Aside from that, they need to look like the character in my head, or I'd need to be able to mod them to fit the character. But a real deciding factor is the body- if I don't like the body (wrist joints in particular) then there is no way that I can keep the doll, and I dislike hybrids for the most part.

    5. The nose area tends to make-or-break dolls the most for me. But most important for me is the doll's expression. It doesn't matter how breathtaking I find a sculpt to be if the expression isn't what I would want for the character that I'd want to give that doll.

I'm pretty much like kokoryta is about the body, too. I'm all for hybrids, but for me personally I am so picky about matching that I usually don't consider hybrids an option so the body is very important too.

    6. Very well said, and I feel exactly the same. The sculpt can be quite varied from anything else I have...I'm truly open to anything that falls basically within the MSD size range and I do not focus on a single "look" or asthetic. But I need a sculpt with a strong level of emotional complexity that can portray whatever multi-dimensional character I'm looking to embody at the time.

    7. Eyes and lips.
If the eyes aren't to my liking, I won't even consider it.
But if everything else is great, but the lips are not what I want... I've had many sculpts that I really love everything about them -- except the mouth. It kills it more times than anything else.

But I always seem to start with the eyes. If I don't like the eyes, I go no farther. Or rather, I keep going farther, looking elsewhere.

    8. the eye shape and the nose

    9. Oh my, this is a great question...umm...Everydoll that I look at I run past my bf. He is a sculptor and helps me alot when making my decisions. What always seals it for me are the ears. I don't know why, but I like to look at the ears on a doll! =o)

    10. Face shape is number one. And then eye shape, then lips. I like stylized dolls rather than realistic dolls. Realistic molds have eyes that are too small and I find the features bland. Probably why I'm such a Volks junkie.

I'm forever in search of just the right male doll- Volks Williams is close to my idea as is IOS Mezz (but try finding either one)

I like open moths that have some expression, and eyes with emotion. I like a doll with some attitude. Some I find to be very blank and lifeless although a good face-up can fix that.

I'm picky about elf ears too. I don't like them droopy or really long.

    11. Actually, I'd like to amend my answer.

My big things are noses, eyes, skin tone, clothing options, and how photographic the doll is.

Nose - I like two kind of noses. The cute adorable noses (i.e. Volks Luna, or Volks Emma), or pointy profile noses (DOT Lahoo and Lucas/Chris).

Eyes - I like expressive eye shape.

Skin - I like a doll that glows, and feels good in my hands.

And the last two points basically keep me in the Volks SD13/SD10 sizes.

    12. For me it is the shape of eyes and the mouth.

    13. The face is important, but the real deal breaker for me is the body. Sometimes, I'll love a face mold but find the body sculpt too gaunt or not proportional. I've been looking for a second doll for another character but while I've been finding lots faces that fit, the bodies always seem too frail and wispy for him... :(

    14. I'm really anal, I like them to be cold-tempered, with almond shaped eyes and full lips. I don't care what company or size they are, I just want them to have a certain personality.

    15. The eyes and the lips!
If the eyes are to small or someting I tend to not like them...

    16. Eye shape...I like smaller and asian-shaped eyes more than big anime eyes X'D

Noses. I like them natural, rounder. Not too small and not too pointy.

      Adult molds...I don't like childish molds ^^'

Lips. I like lips natural, not too big, not too small and upper and lower lip should look good together X'D (DZ Hid as example is horrible. Upper lip anywhere?)

The body should suit the character.

Overall look. The mold must speak to me, I must now what to do with it, which clothes may fit e.t.c.
I hate good looking but "dead" dolls. Big problem with DOD, all their dolls may be pretty...but they all look like dead fishs to me.

    17. Even though I'm super picky, I don't have one particular area that I pay close attention to. I take a look at the face on the whole, and I point out what about the face is good or bad. I don't like fat puffy lips, and I don't particularly like it when artists paint dark colours in the corners of a doll's mouth because I think it makes them look like they have crud in their mouth. I don't like eyes that are too far apart, or dolls that have droopy or irregularly shaped chins. Noses can't be to fat, and while pointy noses are usually okay, there is a point where I can say "that's just way too pointy for my tastes" I also look at the joints go too, because I don't like joints that look too bulky...
      I'm really picky ><

    18. shoes....i'm weird like that...aren't we all though..

    19. Eyes, definitely eyes. Then lips, cheeks, and well... knees

    20. Just about everything actually. :XD:
But I think eyes, nose and lips are the most important. ;)
