1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

The Dollshe side of the Dollshe/Dollmore copy issue *translated statement page 27*

Nov 21, 2006

    1. so very sorry, i just don't know that much terminology XD

but yeah even if i don't know anything, you can put layer of putti to change the top but you sure can't explain that stuff in the inside... but hopefully dollmore has some realy hardcore proof. stuff i just couldn't translate.

    2. haha, I've been reading through my friend's translation and he pretty much left out all the funny bits! your versions are much more accurate and entertaining!

I don't think you need to worry about translating all their randomness...Shame it's the only Dollmore defence so far....Maybe those that sent a polite e-mail to Dollmore will get a reply/provoke a statement.

    3. actually THAT probably has to do with the fact that I'm a comic book translator XD

but duuude these guys are REEEKing with sarcasm!! YOU HAVE to carry this correctly on the translation man!!!!

though i may not understand the terminology, i can sure see the heat in these discussions, and that's what i wanted to point out. (since i suck with terminology, i better do the other job correctly right? XD)

    4. wow did i just killed the thread coz everyone got tired of my squabble translations??????? XD oh man...

*will continue to spy this thread XD*

    5. Excuses are being made everywhere. Excuses excuses. People are saying Mr. Dollshe over reacting. I don't think he is. After trying so hard to deal with this awkward situation in a private manner, he has no choice but to do this publicly. Dollmore behaved in a manner of a guilty person, they acted (as I read) flippantly to Mr. Dollshe's claims. Are they the one who gave Mr. Dollshe the Kyle Reese or did Mr. Dollshe go out and get one (either buy or borrow from someone)?

I always thought the Dollmore model body was a Dollshe body....with the flaws, fixed. The legs are better, the annoying popping torso piece removed and made into one piece. Just because it's better, doesn't make it right... I think Dollmore took bits and pieces of the Dollshe body to make their own. Ahah, a frankendoll. The hands...he's right about the hands, the lines on the inside are the same. The joints are the same and limbs can be swapped. Mr. Dollshe isn't angry at competition (in fact I'm surprised he came back from acting school just to do all this..) but angry at the copying.

I'm sorry I just can't take Dollmore's side on this one. They probably based their model doll on hound (or whichever dollshe) because he was the closest size to what they were going for.

I've always said that just because a person/company is nice to you or has great products....doesn't mean they can do no wrong.

...and I LOL'd at the debate going on. XDDD

    6. I had both of these dolls in my hands...kyle does not FEEL like a copy.
Like a jet is different from a prop-plane....still a plane but some people prefer the jet.

Kyle handles completely different...even if the sculpt turns out to be a resculpt...the engineering is totally different. He poses and STANDS on his own. Everytime I have ever picked up a Hound, he flops like a rag doll unless he's been wired and sueded. I didn't do any of those things to my Kyle.

I am NOT going to get into the debate about who did what to whom. I can only tell you what I know about the doll that is now living in my house and answer reasonable questions about him. I once owned a Hound so I can make some comparisons about handling.

    7. I'm interested in seeing how this plays out in court, if it ever does.

While the interior marks are pretty compelling evidence that a Dollshe body was used as a base, the exterior is so vastly different from the sculpting shapes, joints, and proportions in the legs that it'd probably fall under the significantly altered portion of US copyright law. Photoshopping out the hip joint in the Dollshe torso, they still aren't the same shape, so significant modification would have had to have been to produce the Dollmore torso. Dollmore appears to have taken the basic Dollshe design and improved upon it. That puts it in the moral grey area I suppose of whether or not this is right.

    8. Yes, Dollmore OFFERED him a doll and he took it.

    9. After viewing all the threads here, I stand firmly -- in the middle.

The similarities shown in the pix above, particularly in the hands, look far less obvious in the set of pictures in PamSD's comparison thread of the Kyle body/Hound body. The positioning of the fingers is similar (you have no idea how I DON'T like those two pointing fingers on the left hand!), but in Pam's thread, you can see that the overall look of the fingers is more delicate than the Hound fingers. And the elbow joint is identical, but the knees aren't. And the feet -- marrone....

Yeah, it sorta looks like they got so familiar working esthetics on the Hound bodies that they used one to work FROM, and made various changes/improvements to it. But they also made significant changes, especially in the torso area, and the relative sizes of the two parts of the leg, and at several other points.

Now, if both sides could get past the growing animosity - Well, in a perfect world (for us, the consumers, anyway), a peace offering would be Dollmore allowing Dollshe to use the improved legs, shoulder rotation joint, and finely crafted six-pack on future Hound bodies!

However, we do demand more meat on the upper arms from both companies -- Oh, and speaking of m--- , the Dollshe *package* must remain sacrosanct.

    10. Does anyone know the Korean laws about copyrighted material?

    11. I dunno that could still have been a psycological move. Offering him a doll with confidence to make him doubt his own. But if it's one thing I know, Mr. Dollshe like most male artists....he is stubborn.

    12. Both North and South Korea are signatories to the Berne Convention governing international copyright law.

    13. I know I might be getting into this too late and please excuse me if I sound lost, but when I was looking at PamSD's photos I thought that the arm joints, the hands, and the width of the shoulders looked the same. And now looking at these photos, I think the Hound body was for sure used as a base and copied in some parts/ways.

    14. Dollmore did not copy molds. Look at the comparisons.

      Just look.

    15. It is sad to hear dollmore did that but.....I thought that if you changed art atleast 20% then someone could not take legal action agaist you for copying? Or is that just in the US?

    16. Looks at what? What are we looking at gayle? Be specific.
YOU look at the comparison photos done up by Mr. Dollshe and tell me why you think they are not a copy.

    17. That's US copyright law. It's Korean copyright law that applies here.

    18. TO THE MODS and AIMEE:
I am not trying to be rude or mean. Just asking what I feel is an important question:
Does this mean we can not buy or sell or trade the dollmore 70cm dolls here anymore?

Forever doll has been banned and I know that people here go freaking crazy when they see one on ebay and harass the people to the point where they must pull the auction.

Also, when someone here accidentally purchased copies of Yo SD wings not knowing and tried to resell them (because it is not what they wanted) the thread got banned.

So, will the same happen to these boys? Will we be unable to buy, resell, or trade them him? Can we advertise auctions for them or will those get banned?

I really would like to know because I feel that it is important to those of us who wanted to buy one or those of us who have one we may want to sell.

    19. I'm completely disapointed in Dollmore, this is just so shameful :< I really like their dolls a lot and respect them as a company, but wow.

    20. But Dollmore didn't copy the molds, I have had Kyle in my hands. he's a DOLLMORE Model type doll.

He is not built like a Dollshe (again, I own 3 Dollshe boys so, I know what I amntalking about)

Kyle IS a Model, and he has the strengths and flaws of that engineering.

I will say again, no one ever thought. or professed that, he, was a Dollshe boy
