1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

The Dollshe side of the Dollshe/Dollmore copy issue *translated statement page 27*

Nov 21, 2006

    1. Gayle, repeating yourself does not a good debate make. Either bow out or come up with something other then "But he's a dollmore model doll, I know because I've touched him" =|
I think the only one who is getting overly emotional is you, so can we go back to being rational people here?

    2. is there a serious concern that there will be no more Dollshe boys or is this just people getting stressed over this news? Because personally, and this is just imho, I think that all of us getting this excited over this is really just taxing to ourselves, we won't know much until there is a legal verdict reached.

    3. That is of course what Tensiya will say to you.

    4. Why lock it? Nobody is acting "heated" and I think Dollshe needs to have this, if not the "fight" will not be fair...

And I'll just open a new one...it's as simple as that

    5. Hey no stabbing! Why are you pointing fingers on who is emotional?

    6. After reading everything in this thread . . . I still don't stand firmly on either side. I just feel very sad about the whole situation in general, because I like both dolls in question very much. The evidence on the insides of the doll does make it undeniable that Mr. Dollshe has a right to be suspicious . . . but I agree with Gayle that he has not acted in a very professional manner about it. I understand he must be enraged by this, but maybe it would have been better to have resolved the matter more quietly.

Whether it is proved that Dollmore has produced a copy or not, their reputation has been soiled and many people will think twice about buying from them after this whole affair- which is a bit aggravating, because they offer so many other wonderful dolls. I was planning on ordering a doll from Dollmore soon, and even though that doll has nothing to do with this debate, I know somewhere in my mind I will wonder if any other supposed dishonest practices are being carried out by them. I hope this will blow over though, and that Dollmore will stay afloat even if they are proved to be "in the wrong" on this one.

    7. Right on Hyon. You tell the REAL truth.

Hugs my friend, that took coutage.

    8. pls let's not get this locked. this is very important news :D

i think in general we understand the top layering is pretty different but mr. dollshe is just saying that, this can be done by adding a layer of putti and then recasting. i believe

it's just that it's a bit strange to see that the inside is the same. it just sorta is good evidence that it was a modded dollshe.

again. i admit, dollmore body is heavily improved its posability making it a whole new body. what a few of us are saying is that, it looks like it's a heavily improved dollshe never the less?

i think that's what everyone is saying. it's not an exact COPY. a copy meaning, the top body is the same as well. a few joints were created or taken away to make this new body. but the inside sorta proves, it is improved upon from an origional mold of a hound

i think that's what everyone's sorta trying to say.

    9. I think at this point, it is more an argument about what is considered copying... clearly they've taken parts and recast them... but if they alter/add to the outside to change the body figure, using the dollshe parts as a base, is that still 'copying'? Yes, the body is disctinctly different in several ways, but if another doll's parts have been used to create it, is that infringement of creative property?

I do a fair amount of sculpture work, mostly using rubber molds--in essentially the same style as the ones used to create dolls... if I saw those core imperfections duplicated in another piece, regardless of the exterior of the piece, I would without a doubt say that they had been recast. If those photographs are accurate, then in my unobjective opinion (well, relatively... I mean, I have no interest in male or 70cm dolls... XD) they have stolen creative property of the dollshe artist.

Personally, I think it's over-the-top when people make a fuss about dolls 'looking' like other dolls or having similar body features, because obviously all these companies look for good ideas and incorporate certain aspects of them into their creations. But literally using another artist's work to create your own is something else entirely. If I had to pick one, I like the dollmore body's aesthetics better, but improving upon someone else's work does not make it your own... :sweat

In the art world, it's a really controversial issue, but in the commercial world, that's pretty finitely illegal...

    10. I hope this all gets resolved soon. I wish for only the truth to come out. And whatever their decisions will be, about legal action or not....
I hope that somehow, as doll lovers, owners, and collectors... we don't lose out in the end.

    11. If this thread is locked and you open an identical thread, not only will that thread also be locked, but you will be personally issued a warning from the moderators.

Let's keep this on topic and avoid getting overemotional.

    12. Naw, I don't do anything that is hugely original. AND, I price my stuff on discount. Competetion is welcomed.

    13. Yes. I am concerned. About there being Dollmore boys! I would probably buy a dollmore boy from here or If I bought one from Dollmore I would want to be able to resell him here if I couldn't bond.

I really wish someone would answer my question!

    14. Well in that case...lets just hope everyone will stay cool ^_~*
      Anyways...it's 4am time to go to bed~!!

Be good everyone!! I don't want to come back to a locked thread :aheartbea

    15. actually i agree. competition on 70cm dollfies would be lovely.... for my wallet ^^;;;;

    16. *sigh* I said this before.
Mr. Dollshe DID try to handle the matter privately but he was blown off. So he took it to the fans for them to cast their own judgement on the matter.

      People complain when we don't hear anything...and complain when we do. >_>;;

    17. Well, that is the point. They acted as a distributer of the Dollshe dolls, then modified the body and resold it as their own. I'd say Dollshe has all the right in the world to be mad at Dollmore.

victin, last I checked, I was allowed to have an opinion based on the fact that Gayle did not provide a satisfactory response to my inquiry. :)

    18. And of course, Gayle would know the "real truth". Being such a close personal friend to everyone involved and seeing both sides of the story. *eyeroll*

Anyways, Dollshe just seems to be acting like a tempermental artist to me, whereas Dollmore is acting like a company. HOWEVER! That does not make Dollmore right. I am not a fan of either line of dolls and even I can see the blatant copying. But since Dollshe (apparently) does not have a patent, taking this issue to court could end up costing more than it's worth.

    19. Okies, I will:

      TO THE MODS and AIMEE:
I am not trying to be rude or mean. Just asking what I feel is an important question:
Does this mean we can not buy or sell or trade the dollmore 70cm dolls here anymore?

Forever doll has been banned and I know that people here go freaking crazy when they see one on ebay and harass the people to the point where they must pull the auction.

Also, when someone here accidentally purchased copies of Yo SD wings not knowing and tried to resell them (because it is not what they wanted) the thread got banned.

So, will the same happen to these boys? Will we be unable to buy, resell, or trade them him? Can we advertise auctions for them or will those get banned?

I really would like to know because I feel that it is important to those of us who wanted to buy one or those of us who have one we may want to sell.

    20. Let's all listen to Hyon. PLEASE.

She will update us all as this progresses.
