1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

The dreaded C word CUSTOMS!!!!

Mar 23, 2014

    1. When i first read the title I was like WHAT?!! Women hate the C word....OHHhhh Customs lol. That's better.

But wow, I feel for the rest of you guys around the world. I don't know if I'd buy bjds if I had to pay the customs fees you guys do.

    2. As living in Europe I expect to have to pay the custom fee from anything I order outside EU areas. All together I've paid so much custom fees already that they don't come as a surprise (and I could've bought SO many dolls and accessories with that money that I don't even want to think about it!). Usually when I concider buying a new doll, I do have to think about the custom fee also. At the moment I have a quite big order coming from Fairyland (when they do eventually ship it out someday) so I expect to pay about third of the total price (including shipping cost) for the Customs. :P I'd rather not, but as I can't avoid it, I have to be prepared to that. SO, my current order is about $860 so I have to pay around $286 for customs. That is 24% VAT + 4,7% for dolls = 28,7%. Ouch. That's going to hurt. I usually have a little bit more than third to cover the fee, becouse they converse the full price to EURO here in Finland and it is not always the same since there are difference with the converting USD to EURO.

    3. lol, fellow Brazilian?
Just to complement this, if the combined price of purchase + shipping is higher than $500, you don't have to pay 60% (plus other taxes, depending on your state)... Because other taxes and a fee will have to be paid as well, and you can end up paying over 100% of the purchase value in customs... And you will have a lot of headache to get your package, anyway...
So it seems Brazil wins this round.
Take that, European countries... You got nothing on us :) /cries

    4. Wow, I am not sure I would buy any doll with such custom fees :o.

    5. Holy hell in a handbasket, Brazil really takes the cake when it comes to ridiculous fees! :o

    6. Brrrrr, thats why I buy second hand.
I paid them once for none dolly stuff, and never ever agian.

    7. GAH! I hate customs so much!! It annoys me that they hold up the doll for an extra week and it annoying me I have to pay £30 each time I want my doll home. I used to go pick them up after work or not he weekend but now the depot closed it's awkward to get to, so I have them bring it to my house, which takes and extra day to process. Very, very annoying!!

    8. Holy Mozes, Brazil really takes the cake. I didn't think I'd say this in regards to the topic, but I'm glad I live in Europe.

If you're living in my country and buy outside the EU, that won't change a thing. Even second hand items get charged with taxes.

    9. Oh my goodness! @A@ I'm so sorry for everyone who has to deal wit these fees!
      Yikes!

    10. Wow, Brazil, I feel for you guys. O_O I'm glad I live in Europe, wouldn't like to pay double the price of a doll. But the amount I do have to pay is definitely ouchy too.

    11. Okay, Brazil wins the customs crazy cup!

I am expecting a hefty charge for my FL Mio fullset...

    12. With America to UK, I've never been hit with customs ever. For dolls though, you'll unfortunately get hit with customs. The worst customs I've ever had haven't been with dolls though, actually to do with lolita clothes from Japan. @@
(Also, if you're in the UK, I recommend Angelesque if you want to avoid customs!)

    13. Wow I was going to complain about NZ but some other places have it really rough! :o

Here we get customs duty tax added, which for toys/models is 5% of stated value, and then on top of that goods and services tax, which is 15% of the new value + shipping. If the amount owed to customs is under $60NZD/$50USD then we don't have to pay anything.
Not looking forward to my Leonard arriving though, from that perspective! The worst I got hit ever though was a pair of shoes, they're taxed at 10% and they were an expensive pair of shoes ahaha :XD:

    14. I got handed a £55 customs charge 6 years ago when I bought my first doll, but then only got a £20 charge a couple of years back when I bought my latest. The first I bought in from the company, the second was a second-hand doll so I guess it depends on what the seller actually puts on the customs label.

    15. Customs fee is something I who live in Germany can't runaway from :D Until now, just for BJD hobby, I think all customs fee which I have paid, can buy at least 2 new standard SD size dolls. Scary and painful but can do nothing.

    16. Amen to Belgium being cursed! The C-word sends shivers down my spine. I nearly died when I heard the custom fee for my Feeple60 Moe Miyu. My partner got mad as hell and I nearly hyperventilated. Nevertheless I had to pay the full sum or she would have been sent right back to 'where it belonged' according to customs. They're just thieves protected by the law. If I could purchase dolls in my own country I wouldn't be ordering them online you know...

      *sigh*

I really want to purchase another doll but I dread having to deal with them every single time. I'm usually very patient and docile but I nearly hit someone in the face last time. Shame on me...

    17. I'm expecting massive customs fees :( But I understood that when I ordered. Thankfully 2 of my bjds won't be due until end of the year (Loongsoul doll Antje and IOS Ciel) so I can save for those and spread the cost out. I wouldn't ask for mark downs because they'd be issues if anything went wrong - missing, broken etc. I have heard a few occasions when people have had issues with refunds due to it. Not worth the risk.

    18. I thankfully live in the United States, so customs fees do not affect me. I still despise customs however just because it takes an eternity to update tracking numbers! I don't mind that packages will take time to get from one country to another, but scan the freaking packages! My last EMS order stated it was still in Tokyo, Japan when it arrived on my doorstep. Grr. >__<

    19. I really feel for those who pay customs fees >_< and here I sometimes complain about paying $80 for shipping:sweat never in my life I have paid customs fees! if I ever move to another country in Europe or South America I think I will stop buying dolls:o I wanted to move to Switzerland in a few years...anyone from there?

    20. The worst I've paid so far has been... about 120 euro... or the cost of a small doll... *sob* well, still not as bad as others but then you have to consider we also pay an additional 15 euro for express shipping plus whatever they ask as a handling fee (last time I paid that it was another 20-ish euro)
