1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

The dreaded C word CUSTOMS!!!!

Mar 23, 2014

    1. My delivery from Junkyspot has just reached uk customs last night... At the moment, I'm just inpatient and want it delivered tomorrow! (Ha! As if)

Not even thinking about charges at the mo... Ugh...

    2. I don't know if this has been said here, but just so ya'll know - despite Jpopdolls writing all over their site they wont under value items- they do. I guess that's to protect themselves/us but its pretty awesome. No customs charges from them :)

I was, however, just charged £21 customs on 2 items of clothing from tata's paradise :doh

    4. Fingers crossed guys!!

Though, I don't think anything will happen now it's the weekend? :...(

    5. Oh gosh, for me in Ecuador is a crazy thing
To get dolls for me is Kind of complicated, because everything has to be less than $400 and less than 4kg, and sent by EMS/regular airmail(cheaper fees, nice service ^^) other way there is a Hell of procedure and money to take them from costums really u.u.

    6. Customs fees are such a bug bear! It is always a delight to be able to buy a doll within the EU. I don't mind the tax alone in principle, it is the handling fees that really get me. I try and factor in the charges which are normally around the £60 mark for a $500 purchase. Luckily my next two dolls will be customs free which makes the third that is coming with fees tolerable.

    7. Ugh~ one of my girls is currently at the customs. They're supposed to clear her out from the customs and then forward them to my local PO, but they're really unreliable, so I'll have to travel all the way to the big city on Tuesday. I'm kind of nervous about the customs charges, too. I ordered from legenddoll, and Erica was kind enough to under declare the package for me - she even marked it as a gift. But let's see what will happen...

    8. Just had my first interaction with customs on an order from Mirodoll - got a text message form DHL directing me to go online to pay, it was only £16.00 which on an order of over $300 was not bad at all! My Resinsoul order last year didn't get stopped at all, so will see about next delivery from them.

    9. Oh, lucky! And on a Sunday too? Where did you order from hat came via DHL (if you don't mind me asking)? My current customs-prisoner and my soon-to-be-shipped bjd are via Parcelforce

    10. I just checked and it's DHL Express - I ordered from Mirodoll in Hong Kong. The text message was yesterday but the shipping status has been updated a few times since then, last was saying it had arrived at sort facility this afternoon. My Resinsoul was brought by Parcel Force, if I remember right.

    11. Oh, interesting! I don't know how international shipping works with which carrier you get. Good to know DHL are up to date with technology and send you texts!

    12. Gah!! My doll has left customs! Now to wait till it gets to the depo and I can find out how much (defo paying, tracking said customs charges raised).

Aghhhh, just give me my doll! :...(

EDIT: paid a fee of £16.80. Bargin!!

    13. Oh, hello past me!

This time, custom fees for my Leekeworld Nicole come to £25.50. Still not bad, I think.

    14. Could I nosy and ask how much it came out as? It probably won't be for a really REALLY long time given the price, but I want a fashion-size Dollshe eventually. Given how costly they are, and how customs is supposed to work here, I can imagine it coming out as a very large sum of money...

    15. @nattherat That's alright luckily I only ended up paying £33.02. Dollshe marked the doll down. I was so relieved lol! XD I hope you can get yourself a Dollshe real soon! :D

    16. Customs held mine for ten days, though they only dinged me forty bucks. It could have been a lot worse..

    17. Last time I got a notice from Finnish customs they wanted the shopping list which I had attached into the customs clearance already and they wanted to know how much is the shipping fee. I took a screen cap from Fairylands shipping policy which says if the order goes over $820 the shipping is free and also that I did already add my shopping list for the clearance notice I had filled in their internet site earlier the same day and added the same document in the email too. I was prepaired to call them also, but they sent me the bill from my order to Fairyland, it was whopping €313 which I was quite prepaired to pay becouse I KNEW I couldn't get anything without custom fees. My bill from Fairyland was about $1280 so I had saved the amount of custom fee. I did think I will not buy anything as expensive from them anytime soon until I saw the new Feeple 60... x'D

    18. Ugh. I just had one of my girls sit in customs for over 4 days. Luckily I didn't have to pay anything on her, but still. It kind of put me off buying a doll internationally ever again.

    19. I feel for you, our customs office in the Czech republic is very strict too - we have to provide all the needed documents - screenshots from Paypal and original order and specification what exactly is shipped. The only thing we can do is to count with the horrendous fees prior to ordering :sigh.

    20. I live in Germany as well, and it really is customs hell... Once I had to pay €70 for a €100 order because the company thought they would do a nice thing for me and send it as gift - they didn't buy it and I had to pay a fee for attempted fraud. Fun times...

That's why I usually buy from sellers that are located within the EU: It might be cheaper somewhere else, but at least it has saved me from unpleasant surprises so far.
